I am an experienced, qualified teacher and tutor of 20+ years. I am educated to master's level and have expereince teaching and tutoring primary and preparatory school pupils (ages 6 - 13). I can provide home learning support in all primary subjects as well as specialist English tuition. I have had success preparing pupils for SATs and entrance examinations for independent schools, particularly in Cambridge, (United Kingdom), though I am also familiar with Cheltenham schools. I tailor sessions to the individual child's interests and needs, and work with pupils and parents to meet their desired goals, whether these be to build confidence, to develop creativty or to begin entrance exam preparation in earnest. I usually set a short piece of homework at the end of each session and review this with the pupil in the following session.
I am currently working only online via Skype and Zoom to deliver lessons but will also consider other mutually agreeable, secure platforms.
My basic rate is £30 per hour but this may be adjusted up to £35 or down to £25 depending upon the age and number of students, the work involved and any fees charged to me to facilitate tutoring.
Return to School or Transition Support - I can provide educational support for children returning to school in September after a significant time out of a formal educational environment. I can also support those children making important transitions between key stages or who are adjusting to the pace of work in a new school.
Manuscripts and dissertations (master's level) - I offer a proof-reading (typing, spelling and punctuation) and basic editing (grammar, consistency and clarity) service and quote for this on an individual basis.
SCIENCE COURSES - I'd like to recommend the highly successful and talented 'Andrew B'. Contact him via intensivegcsecourses.com. Please see my gallery for his up to date group and 1:1 course list.
Most of my work comes to me by word-of-mouth recommendation but in April 2020 I also created this page on TutorExtra and so currently have only one review.
I can be easily and quickly contacted via this site or by email: info.cambridgeprimarytuition@gmail.com. Please simply send me a message if you'd like to find out more. I'm very happy to discuss an arrangement that will work well for you.

I tailor my tutoring for each pupil and discuss their needs and requirements with them not only during the first tutoring lesson but on an ongoing basis.
i have expreience tutoring pupils who excel at maths and pupils who struggle with their maths. I also have experience with SEND pupils including Autusim, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia and ADHD.
I prefer to travel no more then 20 miles from my home address but am happy to provide online tutoring if that is easier.

Hello there,
Raising the academic attainment of students has been a deep passion and successful achievement - as a founding former headteacher of a school for 4- 16-year-olds (ten years), a teacher, and a tutor. I have recent English teaching experience at a school (and remotely), in addition to marking GCSE English Language and literature papers. Therefore I am at ease in teaching both key stages three and four students. Over a ten-year period, 98% of my tutees have gained entry into the elite Grammar Schools (a few students gaining scholarships each year too). During the last two years, 97% of my English Language tutees have achieved levels 7-9 in GCSE English Language and 96% in GCSE English Literature.
I am well resourced in teaching face to face or online. An initial consultation with parents, the tutee, in addition to a view of the school reports enables me to gather necessary information about each student. Importantly, the tutorials enable me to get first-hand knowledge of each student enabling me to plan my lessons for the individual.
I look forward to working with you to raise the attainment of your child.

First of all, I am a passionate tutor d I enjoy passing my knowledge to others. I find it very rewarding when students tell me enthusiastically about their good results at exams.
Secondly, through my long medical studies and via my job as GP, I have become very patient and a good listener. This helps me to adapt to any student`s background.
Thirdly, being the mother of three teenagers has taught me how to deal with the variable commitments at this age.
I believe firmly that tutoring should be tailored to match each student needs.
Moreover, I take into account that tutoring sessions are extra works added to the student’s busy day at school or at the workplace. Consequently, I endeavour to make my lessons diverse and lively, to avoid students being bored or tired and at risk of giving up after the first sessions.
I make the session as interactive as possible to retain the student’s attention. The student reads the lesson and we point out together the main ideas. After that, he /she will write summary notes under my supervision. Then comes some sample exam questions. Finally, I end the session by a quiz about the topic that we have studied previously. However, when the exams are getting closer,we work on past papers .
As the holder of a Baccalaureate in Sciences and a Doctorate in Medicine, I am conversant in maths physics and chemistry up to GCSE / A level. In addition, Biology is amongst the basic topics in medical studies therefore, this subject is one of my strongest areas of expertise.
With regard to French, although I am not a French native, I am a fluent speaker as all my studies have been carried out in French, from primary school through to university. Consequently, I master French at all levels: from casual conversation to academic reports. Additionally, through my French husband and his family, I have acquired a strong familiarity with the French culture, history and customs.
I am conversant with the curriculum, through my involvement with my sons’ studies and previous tutoring. I am familiar with the different exam boards and their distinctions. I regularly check on the Internet for the latest updates on the syllabus according to each board.

Hi! I am an experiecned university lecturer in biomedical and nutritional sciences. I really enjoy teaching GCSE and A level Biology and chemistry online in addition to my part-time role at university. Each year I have a small number of students who I work with over the year ahead. I make time for each of my students, and get to know their individual needs and learning styles. I am passionate about teaching, sharing knowledge and watching young people develop skills and building confidence in their own expanding knowledge base. As students enter the university environment we find an increasing number of students who have not retained their knowledge from A level and GCSE beyond their exams. As a university lecturer I am expected (and trained) to have a really strong skill set in helping students to understand content and retain information. I use modern, unique tools and methods to support understanding, retention and exam techniques. it is so important that a tutor has these skills to help accelerate learning and ensure a strong academic so that knowledge can be retained.
I also write exam papers and coursework and can help you with revision techniques and exam preparation and how to break down each question. If you are thinking about going on to university I can also help you decide which uni to apply for, UCAS applications and Personal Statements.
Here are a couple of comments from my students:
"any young person would be fortunate to have Juliet as part of their journey, she is kind motivational and incredibly knowledgeable"
"Juliet inspired me to focus on my studies and pursue my career goals"
"Juliet always approaches everything in a warm and engaging way. She always listened to my concerns so I knew she understood"
I am also, apparently quite funny and very friendly! Thank you for thanking the time to read about me.

I am a professional maths physics and engineering tutor with over 4 years experience (500 hrs +) tutoring online and in person. I am a chartered civil engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers CEng FICE.
I am a part time lecturer in civil engineering at a local regional college in Belfast.
I have extensive experience tutoring children from primary school, age 9, through to 11+ Transfer Test as well as GCSE, AS and A Level. I also tutor adult learners in civil engineering and maths.
My approach to tutoring is to work at the pace of the student and bring the topics back to first principles so the student gains a thorough understanding of the basics. Once that is achieved, he or she can tackle the more complex problems with confidence.

I am a qualified Maths Teacher and an online Tutor. I use a variety of techniques and resources in order to teach and inspire minds. I am fully DBS cleared and have taught through the changes in education over the years and am fully knowledgeable in the current 9-1 GCSE specification. I am comfortable teaching all walks of learners and try my 100% best to make sure that learning is relevant, engaging and fun.
I have a plethora of resources so that students hit their target grade or beyond. In my experience, students tend look at questions as a big problem rather than thinking that questions are made up of smaller steps within a problem. Each student will receive an individual plan at the start of lesson one.
I am also a GCSE Expert Examiner for Edexcel, marking both Foundation and Higher Maths. I also teach at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 2.
I am able to teach online and comfortably at your home, however, due to the current situation with COVID, I prefer to teach online. I use a Huoin pen and tablet with an onscreen whiteboard. I will provide full resources; questions, answers, solutions and exam papers relevant to your exam specification. I teach all topics in Maths and keep up to date with any new developments with exam boards.
I have been a Middle Leader, a Lead Practitioner, a Director of Learning, and have led successful STEM classes and am passionate about the subjects surrounding Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. I also run a debate team at my current school; have been a finalist at The University of Leeds three consecutive years with “Solutions for the Planet” programme and have taken students as finalists at The Houses of Parliament with a solution on sustainability.

My teaching career began over two decades ago. I spent six happy years at the ArtsEd Drama School in Chiswick, where, rather serendipitously, I assumed the reins of responsibility from MY drama teacher! I worked for a further 15 years at a highly ambitious and educationally driven institution, Ibstock Place School in Roehampton. I still teach part-time at Ewell Castle School, near Epsom. I am a highly experienced practitioner of Drama. I have directed countless productions, small and large scale. I have Production Managed almost every single one, so good organisation and the requirement to be 'people-friendly' and an effective communicator, are skills I acquired quickly and retain today. Most of all, I am proud to say that former pupils have gone on to study at a host of vocational training institutions: RADA, Guildhall, Brit, London Contemporary and Laines, and are themselves now successfully working professionally as actors, singer, dancers and stage managers. Some have even gone on to play leading roles on Broadway, the West-End, the RSC, Regent's Park and film and TV. I have taught both GCSE and A-Level Drama with a proven track record of outstanding results, year on year. I know what exam boards require and what pitfalls to avoid. I understand different learning styles and appreciate that young people do not necessarily fall into the same learning mould. I am happy to accommodate everyone. I have examined Drama GCSE and Expressive Arts GCSE for AQA. In pastoral roles, as a former Head of Year 11 and Sixth Form Tutor, I am acutely aware of the physical and mental pressures our teenagers can experience as they try to navigate the choppy waters around public examinations season. You will find me empathic, patient and interested in helping learners challenge their perceptions of learning, helping them shift from a 'fixed' mindset to a 'growth' mindset, thus repairing a bruised self-confidence in the process. I have taught LAMDA Examinations in Acting and ESB (English Speaking Board) Public Speaking Examinations, each to Grade 8, Gold Medal Level, once again, with a proven track record of success. Throughout my career, I have always held a managerial role. I have been Subject Leader for Drama, Head of a large Creative Arts Faculty and also on the Senior Leadership team at ArtEd. Latterly at IPS, I was on the Building Committee, advising on constructing a state-of-the-art Performing Arts Complex which included a Proscenium Arch Theatre and fully equipped Studio Theatre. Crucially, my teaching work has been underpinned and informed by my early career working as a professional actor and Stage Manager. I studied a Performing Arts degree at Middlesex University, after which, I spent a decade performing in the West-End and National Touring large-scale musicals. I have worked extensively in the recording studio and on the radio. Until Covid hit last year, I was the Stage Door Keeper of the Noel Coward Theatre, working for Sir Cameron Mackintosh.

Selecting the right tutor is an important choice to make for any parent or carer- does the tutor teach the subject? Are they an examiner in that subject? How experienced are they? These are the questions I ask when I look for support for my own children.
Please have a quick read of my background and feel free to contact if you think that I can provide you with support. I can send many positive references from those students that I have taught online and who have benefitted from my experience as a senior examiner of over 20 years should you require. I have included a typical response from a delighted family at the bottom of this section. Other references from equally satisfied families can be seen from my website www.onlineeconomicstuition.org.uk
I have worked for other tutor organisations and have only recently joined Tutor Extra - hence the lack of reviews yet. Already I have published an article with them on the benefits of online tuition - why not take a quick read and become my first customer? I will provide some free resources for the first 5 students!
I have taught Economics and Business Studies at both GCSE and A-Level for 23 years within the state sector, holding a range of positions: Head of Department, Head of Sixth Form, Assistant Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher and Acting Headteacher. For 22 of those years I have examined in both subjects for UK & International examination boards at a senior level. This includes the International Economics papers for students who study the subject around the world and the Singapore A-Level papers - set solely for students of that country. I have delivered training to teachers on behalf of examination boards and asked to support schools develop their teaching of the subject. Before training to teach, I worked within the UK Government Economic Service and a City of London Investment firm. I have Qualified Teacher Status and hold an up to date fully enhanced DBS certificate
I am an experienced professional and have faith in the quality of my work and how it is delivered, so you also have the added reassurance of my ‘No Risk Satisfaction Guarantee’, whereby if a student is not satisfied with the first tutorial then I will not charge you for it!
As already said, I have many examples of references from satisfied customers that I can forward you. Here is an example of just one:
“Sean helped my daughters through their AS level Economics and has been a brilliant tutor. He is very good at explaining difficult concepts and is highly knowledgeable of all areas of economics. By making extensive use of exam questions as a teaching tool he rapidly assesses understanding of a given topic, and addresses any areas of difficulty. Tutorials are therefore individually tailored. He has a relaxed and easy-going style and so easily builds rapport, while at the same time challenging the student to reach their potential. His experience as an examiner brings another aspect to the session which you won’t find with many other tutors so he can explain to you exactly how you should answer each type of question and what you should include. Being in Dubai was never an issue, as he has also created a great platform for the tuition to take place where my daughters can both write and Sean can import questions which you can still look back over in between sessions. Both girls will be continuing with Sean for their A Level Economics. Sean is an excellent tutor and I would highly recommend him."

Born and bred in Paris, France, I came to the UK 25+ years ago to work as an animator and graphic designer. I am hence fluent in English and, beside art, I have always been interested in foreign languages: English, Spanish, German... In fact, languages were among my choices of career when I was at school. I started my career in animation with an internship in a studio in Barcelona, where I could also polish my skills in Spanish. Being particularly enamoured with English, I did all I could to learn it from an early age: reading books, listening to songs, watching films in English... Coming to the UK to live and work was a dream come true.
I worked as an animator in the videogame industry first, then for TV and film. I am also an author and illustrator, with a comic book (involving cartoon animals and motorbikes, among other things...) and a bilingual (French-English) children's book published so far. I also got into designing graphics for t-shirts and the gift industry.
Working on my bilingual children's book, which I wrote, translated from French to English and illustrated, not only made me realise the same story will never be articulated in the same way from one language to another but, led me to think about teaching my own language to others.
So here I am: while I don't hide the enthusiasm and sheer joy I feel in the process of transmitting my knowledge to my tutees, I am also a friendly, patient tutor with a calm and gentle demeanour, always making sure that the words, phrases, and grammar are understood correctly.
I teach children, teenagers, adults, seniors... and will adapt my teaching style to each person's ability, goals and interests. I can teach in person and online on Skype, Zoom, Messenger or anything else that I may not be aware of but that you use yourself.
So feel free to get in touch if you need lessons, I will be delighted to hear from you and, looking forward to working with you in expanding your knowledge of a beautiful language.

I am a fully qualified (DBS checked) English teacher (I semi retired in September 2019).
I've taught English at secondary level for over 35 years. I am fully up to date with exam assessment critieria and, having worked as an AQA exam marker, I know exactly what the exam board looks for.
Over the past few years I've also worked as a private tutor with students from Years 5 to 9, successfully helping them to consolidate any aspects of English needed (including Verbal Reasoning for the 11+ exam). I have also had success as a tutor with a number of students at GCSE (AQA exam board English Language and English Literature) and A Level (AQA English Literature).
I tailor tuition to the individual student's needs and by working with them one to one I am able to help them realise their potential.

I have a total of 4 years of tutoring experience, with both tutoring agencies and in private tuition. I have taught GCSE and A level students across a variety of exam boards, namely Edexcel, AQA, OCR and JWEC. My students have gone to excel in their chosen subjects with significantly improved results.
As a tutor I use a webcam via Skype or Zoom to communicate with my students and a virtual whiteboard to write and explain as I go along. As part of my teaching many of my students have given me positive feedback of how homework and lectures aid and reinforce their learning outside tuition classes.
I usually correct the homework and highlight the corrections before starting a new subject material to ensure my students feel confident that they have mastered a topic before moving ahead. I also make PowerPoint lecture slides and handouts for my students which I am always more than happy to email. After covering the syllabus content, I usually leave ample time to discuss past exam paper questions and how to answer them.
The core principle of my lessons is to first and foremost lay a foundation for the subject material for my students and then to build up the complexity. I highly encourage understanding scientific principles rather than rote memorisation to my students.
I believe learning should be tailored to every students’ individual needs and requirements and they should enjoy the learning material.

The Key to Success
Everyone deserves the very best chance in life and providing your child with additional opportunities to learn, reinforce and extend understanding is key to developing confidence and the motivation to succeed.
I am an independent private tutor in the South Manchester area, teaching Primary age children. I pride myself on being able to assess quickly, determine next steps and deliver my lessons in a creative manner adapted carefully to the needs of each of the children I teach. Rebecca K. Testimonial August 2020
I first met Rebecca K. nearly 20 years ago when as Headteacher of an exceptional private independent school I needed to employ a Head of English.
Rebecca stood out against other well qualified applicants.
Not only did she have excellent subject knowledge but showed real passion for enhancing children’s love for learning and excitement.
Over the years she demonstrated this repeatedly and not only in English, her ability and passion for other subjects was amazing and she could readily be asked to teach Maths, IT, Geography to name but a few.
As my career extended to becoming an Executive Headteacher over several schools I could call on Rebecca to advise and recommend about various up to date teaching and learning materials and techniques.
Apart from her professional knowledge she is warm caring person who really cares about the children she teaches of all abilities. She is patient, understanding and quickly appreciates the way a child learns and adapts her teaching to that individual. She has a good sense of humour which she readily uses to get the best out of her pupils without putting too much pressure on them to succeed.
If you require additional support for your child, I would thoroughly recommend you talk to Rebecca, I’m sure you will not be disappointed.

Having recently completed my PGCE in Primary Education and gaining my QTS; my knowledge of the curriculum, teaching strategies, and methods and my experience puts me in great stead to be an excellent, motivating, thorough and positive tutor for children at the primary level.Further, I have an excellent understanding of the 7+ exams and can focus my teaching towards any areas of learning towards this.I have many strategies for making learning accessible for children, being dyslexic myself, I understand the different difficulties and struggles children can have in school and ways to overcome barriers to learning.I have a passion for education and enjoy making learning fun and engaging. My specialism is computing and I, therefore, love to use computing as a cross-curricular tool in learning.Additionally, Astronomy is a strong passion of mine and something I am keen to spark and promote in children where it can lead to many interesting thoughts and questions and relates to so many schemes of learning.I believe in learning from one's environment and exploring the world around us and therefore ensure that when I teach the curriculum, I make the learning experience as enjoyable, relevant, and accessible as possible.
My first experience in teaching was working in conductive education, with children with cerebral palsy. Further, I worked as a teaching assistant at a large school, working with years 1, 2 and 5. In the mornings I worked with whole classes and in the afternoon I ran group or 1-1 sessions with children that needed extra support, such as children with special educational needs. Additionally, I ran an Astronomy club for year 2 and year 5. I planned, taught, and assessed each child in my class and shared my passion and enthusiasm for the subject with them.I have since completed a PGCE in primary education at the Institute of Education at University College London (UCL). During my placement, I worked primarily with a year 5 class, planning, teaching, and assessing up to 80% of the timetable. On this placement, I taught consecutive lessons in year 1 and 2 also, mostly focusing on Phonics and Maths. My specialism is Computing and I ran a Computing project with my year 5 class on this placement, collecting and subsequently presenting my findings to my colleagues at UCL. This project investigated the ways in which Computing can be used to promote cross-curricular learning and was thoroughly enjoyable, successful, and interesting.I was also lucky enough to gain valuable experience on placement at Brooklyn New School in New York, where I taught year 2. My main focus at this school was Literacy and Numeracy, as well as Philosophy for Children (which is now on the National Curriculum) and I have a broad and well-rounded knowledge of a variety of teaching strategies and methods.Additionally, I run a YouTube channel providing lessons in Astronomy for children and adult beginners. I plan and prepare the lessons most relevant and accessible to children, where it can link to the national curriculum.
I would love to share my knowledge and enthusiasm for Astronomy with adults, as well as children.

I have 1000s of hours in helping students achieve success in A-Level biology as a tutor and biology teacher for over 18 years. A-levels are high stake exams with future university places and careers dependent on good grades. If your child is struggling with:
•Understanding biological concepts
•Understanding exam questions
•How to write answers that gain full marks
•Exam technique
•Applying their understanding and knowledge
Then as an experienced A-Level biology teacher, I can help your child improve in these areas.
I am able to tutor all UK exam boards, have decades worth of past papers and tailored notes specific to each exam board.
I can tutor online where I use zoom and a digital whiteboard to teach students. I provide a video recording of the lesson and digital exam papers and notes that students can access via the student portal. Students find the videos particularly useful for revision and reviewing their understanding at a later date.
If online tutoring is not the option for you, then I can offer in-person tuition in either my home or at your home within the Bridgend County Borough, South Wales.
My Approach To Teaching A-Level Biology
I use lots of different teaching strategies. The strategies used are specific to each students learning needs. One of the most important strategies I use is to explain complicated biological concepts simply and clearly. Here are some more specific strategies that I use.
1. Socratic Questioning
Written or verbal questions cannot be overstated. They are a powerful way to find out if a student understands the concepts. questioning also gives the opportunity to allow the students to think about the concepts, recall facts and make links between concepts. Simple questions that start with: how, why and what are very effective.
2. Feedback
Without feedback, students will never make progress. Feedback has the highest impact factor of 8 in helping students learn. I give detailed feedback on students work so they can improve.
3. Exam Technique
Without being taught how to answer a question, most students will not achieve good grades in their exams. This is a skill that I take very seriously in preparing my students for. I teach Comprehension skills, Word analysis, the meaning of assessment objectives and how they relate to the difficulty of the questions, the meaning of different command words so students can understand what a question is asking them to do. I have decades worth of past exam papers and I make these available to all my students. I work through many past questions to make sure students have excellent exam techniques.
4. Making Links
The highest grades will only be achieved if students can apply their understanding to different situations. Through questioning and tailored activities, I prepare students to master this vital skill.
5. Retrieval Practise
We learn by making links to knowledge we already have. Retrieval practice forces students to actively recall information from their memory. When this is done the memory is strengthened and information is forgotten less. This is a very important thing for students to do. I produce tailed activities and puzzles to help students with this strategy.
6. Maths & Prac
Maths make up 10% of the marks in a question paper and 15% of the marks are practical based questions. It is so important that students have good abilities in these areas. I always ensure students can achieve in these areas.
