Having completed A level Physics Maths and Chemistry and being an avid musician, I have experience in tackling a variety of subjects within these fields.
My ethos with tutoring is to work alongside my students, understanding each of their unique needs and tailoring their lesson to be as productive as possible.
When studying for my own GCSEs, I witnessed many of my peers struggling to comprehend some of the abstract concepts being taught. Consequently, I began to lead a revision group for several of my subjects; sharing my own knowledge and methods with my peers. These sessions showed to me how fulfilling teaching students can be, knowing you've helped someone reach their full potential. As a result, I was able to achieve an A in several of my subjects, including Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Studying music formally and singing for 4 years has provided me with a wealth of experience in singing, performance, songwriting and the mechanics of the voice. I encourage my students to find their own style in a safe yet engaging manner whilst improving their formal technique.
I believe when introduced to a new concept the student needs to tackle a problem in a way that they understand. By providing my students with as many tools to face the problem at hand, I believe this is where I make an impact.
Let me help you achieve your full potential!

Over the last two years, I have been at Currie High School and have just finished a year of teaching English at George Heriot's in Edinburgh, teaching S1 to S6 students. I thoroughly enjoyed both experineces interacting with pupils, acknowledging the criteria for success in the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence (no matter what that means for each individual) and understanding how best to help the curriculum become more accessible.
It is important, i feel, to overcome an attitude of "I can't do this!" and to work on tools that enable a student to feel more positive about his/her/their abillities. I would start the process by building on existing skills and progressing to strategies to make the project or task easier to complete.
At the centre of all this is the individual - in a non-threatening and encouraging environment, i believe that confidence can be developed...leading to competence. I like to get to know my pupils in a working relationship and to move on from there.
I can assist with English and American literature, poetry, grammar, creative essay-writing and literary essays, oral preparation and improvement of vocabulary or conversation classes, any project or assignments on GCSE or Scottish Curriculum for Excellence.
Description: (work) I really enjoy tutoring and the interaction with young people it affords me. To work together to overcome a challenging aspect of the curriculum is enormously satisfying. Despite the seriousness of the task that needs completing or the skill that needs to. be mastered, a bit of fun and laughter is also important though. Learning needn't be dull!
Description (of me): I am young at heart, enjoy (cheesy) puns and sometimes the silliness (and oddness) of English. Obviously, I thoroughly enjoy reading, particularly historical novels and more literary works and despite selling all my books from South Africa, I am well on my way to creating a new, personal library here in Edinburgh! My lovely dog, Lucy, is 15-years old and a very important member of the household - she is actually in charge!
The history of the UK is incredibly rich and my partner and I are working our way through all the interesting and significant sights - so much to see, so little time. My Scottish grandfather was born in Kelso, and it has been emotional coming back here to explore "his" country.

I have over 20 years of experience in education. My specialism is maths and science but I have planned and taught English lessons as part of my daily job. I am based in Dunfermline, Scotland but have extensive experience working with online programmes and tutoring individuals and groups.
If you have heard of or used Sumdog, you will have seen my work. I designed the progression for the more than 3000 questions for mathematics and 3000 sentences for spelling. I can confidently find where a learner's strengths are and build on them and determine the barriers to progression and work with you to remove them.
I have designed GCSE exam materials for online platforms like Maths Made Easy and have contributed to a range of in person services so that they have a consistent approach to lesson delivery.
I look forward to hearing from you and working together to improve the attainment of your children and young people.

I hope this Message finds you well. My name is Michael Reda Riyad, and I am a senior computer engineering student currently on an exchange semester at the University of Edinburgh. I am writing to express my strong interest in potentially joining your esteemed Website as a chess coach for children. I would like to share some of my accomplishments and experiences in chess that I believe make me a suitable candidate for a coaching role: National Tournament Success: During my chess journey, I achieved a significant milestone by securing 4th place in the national tournament for youth under 16. This experience not only honed my skills but also instilled in me a deep passion for the game. Open-Section Tournaments: I have consistently performed well in open-section tournaments, demonstrating my ability to adapt to various playing styles and challenges. University Competitions: At my home institution, the American University in Cairo, I actively participated in chess competitions and secured first place in several of them. These experiences enhanced my strategic thinking and leadership abilities. African Universities Chess Competition: As part of a chess team representing my university, I had the privilege of competing in the African Universities Chess Competition held in Kenya. This international exposure expanded my understanding of chess at a global level and allowed me to learn from diverse chess cultures. Given my experience and dedication to the game of chess, I am enthusiastic about the possibility of contributing to the Magnus Chess Academy as a coach for children. I am confident that my skills, passion, and commitment to nurturing young talents align well with your academy's goals. If there are any coaching opportunities available or if you would like to discuss the potential for me to contribute to your academy, I would be delighted to arrange a conversation or an interview at your convenience. Please feel free to reach out to me via email or phone. Thank you for considering my application, and I look forward to the opportunity to discuss how I can contribute to the continued success of this website. Sincerely, Michael Reda Riyad

I am a Uni student currently studying drama at Queen Margaret University with hopes to pursue a Musical Theatre career afterwards. I have loved singing and performing since I wqas a young child and have achieved my Grade 8 Musical Theatre singing award with distinction. My teacher was a huge inspiration to me and I would love to be able to teach what she has taught me to others. I specialise in Musical Theatre (broadway) singing which is all about the performance and is a very unique and exciting style of singing. Theatre is a huge passion of mine and I would love to be able to share this passion with others!
Every tutoring session will be personalised to YOU. If you need to learn some music for an exam or need help putting a repertoire together then I can help. If you want to practice singing but not sure what songs to do then I can focus on that. I can also do general singing classes where we go over warm-ups and exercises and how to practise singing safely and how to not damage your voice. I also can help you work on your confidence, this is a key part to performing and if you need a hand or support I can teach you techniques to use to combat nervousness and stage fright. If you're just looking for a bit of fun and wanting to practise your singing then we can do that too and I can advise on what pieces I think would suit your voice!
I also did my National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher Music which is the equivalent in England to GCSE and A-level Music. Therefore if you are doing singing as your exam ( I also did this with my exam and passed with all As) I can help with your repetoire or just general singing for that and if you needed help with the written exam side of things then I can also help with this.
Overall my lessons will be fun and exciting and we'll discover together what songs suit you best and have a great time doing it together!
Please email me your interest at ***@*** and we can discuss from there.

Personal Description: Ciao! My name is Giampaolo. I have recently moved to Edinburgh from Sicily, Italy, where I worked as a music teacher for 13 years. I have been teaching the flute since I was 15 years old, both privately and in primary and secondary schools. I also have experience playing the flute in numerous orchestras in Italy, including as the second flutist in the National Orchestra in Rome and as the first flutist in the Meditterean Orchestra in Sicily. I would love to continue teaching students here in Edinburgh, and welcome students of all ages and abilities, whether you are a complete beginner, studying for exams or an audition, or looking to pick up the flute again. Tutoring Experience: I have been teaching the flute privately for 13 years since I was 15 years old. During this time I have taught students of all ages, from children to adults, and have also taught at primary school (for one year) and secondary school levels (two and a half years). Tutoring Approach: Most of all I think learning music should be enjoyed. While it is a challenge to learn a new skill, for beginners, or to master a new piece, for the more advanced, I aim to make this challenge enjoyable at every stage. I enjoy teaching students of all abilities, from teaching beginners the basics to helping more advanced flutists play new styles. If a student has a technique that they would particularly like to improve, I tailor the lesson to fit the student's needs, so he/she feels happy they are working towards their own goals.
