Hello and welcome to Mr S. Maths!
I teach solely GCSE Maths. I've been teaching and tutoring Maths now for 10 years!
I own Mr S. Maths and I have a unique way I love to teach and tutor. Here's how it works
Step #1] Pre lesson videos. I record prelesson videos the prepare the students for the lesson. This is to get them up to the standard of our live lesson
Step #2] Weekly live lessons. I teach weekly live classes. I have lessons for foundation, for higher (grades 567) and for higher (grades 789). Each class focuses on a topic of the week going over as many exam questions as we can fit in!
Step #3] Weekly test. You will attempt a 10 mark test following the lesson.
Step #4] You will watch the video walkthrough of the test. This will allow you to mark and correct any mistakes
Step #5] You will log your scores to your personal log (that I provide) and this will now become your revision guide!

I am an enthusiastic and dedicated tutor, currently finishing my Master's Degree in Computational Neuroscience, Cognition & AI at the University of Nottingham. My academic journey, anchored by a Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience, has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the intricate connections between Neuroscience, Cognition, and Artificial Intelligence, shaping the trajectory of my educational pursuits.
Additionally, I have had the privilege of serving as a tutor to numerous students for over 6 years, facing the challenges inherent in subjects like GCSE Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Maths, as well as A-Level Chemistry & Biology. My tutoring philosophy is distinguished by a steadfast commitment to creating a supportive and engaging learning environment. To this end, I leverage innovative tools, including online whiteboards and past papers, and complement these resources such as detailed step-by-step guides, often resulting in extremely positive outcomes with pupils sitting summer exams, be it A-Levels or GCSEs.
While the pursuit of academic excellence remains a focal point, my overarching goal transcends examinations. I am dedicated to instilling a profound understanding of the subjects, and empowering my students to not only excel in their studies but also apply their knowledge in a range of facets of life, including their future careers. I do this partially by drawing inspiration from my background in Neuroscience, as I always aim to integrate neuroscience-backed methods into my teaching practices. Such methodologies not only optimise information retention but also contribute to the ongoing development of cognitive skills, fostering a continuous process of intellectual growth.
Aside from academics, I am an avid reader, keen Badminton player and love to travel! I love to share experiences with students, as it creates a bond with them, and gives them space to be able to feel relaxed, and wanting to contribute themselves during lessons too. This to me, is pivotal in any learning process.
I firmly believe in the transformative power of education and aspire to be more than just a tutor; I aim to be a catalyst for academic achievement and the cultivation of skills that extend far beyond the confines of the classroom. Through a blend of passion, innovation, and personalised attention, I want to provide my students with a comprehensive educational experience, equipping them for success in academia and beyond.

I have taught Chemistry at a large Leicestershire 14-18 School for over 30 years. I have been Head of Chemistry at this school for 20 years. I teach AQA GCSE Chemistry and AQA A-Level Chemistry. I have also taught Nuffield A-Level Chemistry. I have tutored AQA, EDEXCEL, OCR and OCR(Salters) A-Level Chemistry and AQA and OCR GCSE Chemistry. I have tutored students outside of school for 26 years with much success. Many of my A-level students have achieved 100% in A-level Chemistry modules and I have tutored many GCSE students who have achieved 100% in all their GCSE modules for GCSE Chemistry. I am also a Principal Examiner for IGCSE Chemistry. I have marked both Foundation and Higher IGCSE Chemistry papers. I have been an Examiner for Singapore A-level Chemistry. Both these roles have helped me to recognise the difficulties that students have with both GCSE and A-level examination questions and the way to answer them successfully. I use this knowledge to the students advantage in my lessons. I tutor online using Skype, Zoom, Teams and FaceTime which works really well. I have had many students who have gone on to study medicine and other medical degrees. I also write multiple choice GCSE Chemistry questions for an exam board.
My approach is variable depending on the ability of the student and what they are struggling on at the time. However I believe that the practicing of past paper questions is vital for examination success. It is the attention to detail which counts in an examination and I make sure all of my students know everything in the syllabus and have practiced lots of different styles of examination question. I tutor online using Skype, Zoom, Teams and FaceTime usually texting, emailing or messaging students examination practice questions which works really well. At the moment all my tutoring is online. Please get in touch with me if you are interested. It is a very successful way of tutoring.
I tutor students from all over the world. As well as tutoring many students in the UK at the moment I tutor students in Dubai, India, Italy, Australia and New Zealand.

I have over four years of experience tutoring both online and face-to-face. During this time, I have taught piano to children as young as three and worked intensively on exam preparation, including English tests and the ISEE, often with only three months’ notice. I’ve also helped students exceed their grade level in English writing, reading, and comprehension. Additionally, I have worked with children with autism, ADHD, and anxiety, focusing on building trust and creating a fun, engaging learning environment where we can grow together.
