I have been babysitting for 3 years and working in childcare for 2 years in a breakfast and afterschool club. I am currently a student, but love working in childcare. I love helping them develop in their early years and watching them grow as people.
My teacher training has equipped me with dynamic and flexible approaches which are holistically developed to meet the needs, interests and preferences of the learner. Wherever possible, I like to keep learning active and creative - I particularly like to use a cross curricular approach such as using art as a tool to develop descriptive and creative writing skills. I believe that at the root of any good learning, is a positive relationship between the learner and teacher therefore I am passionate and skilled in creating rapport with my learners to help them feel supported and comfortable throughout lessons. For the past 10 years, I've taken care of 4 nephews and a niece, ranging from the age of 2 to 10 years old. When their parents are busy with work, or otherwise occupied, I'm the first they call. I have changed their diapers, bottle fed them, bathed them, helped them brush their teeth, dropped them off at the nursery, and then at the school when they were older. I've cooked for them, I've tutored them, helped them with their homework, given them life advice, etc. I'm very proud to say that all 4 call me their favorite aunty.
I understand how hard being a parent is. I understand how difficult it is to get a few hours for yourself when you've got a baby to take care. I understand that sometimes, no matter how much you adore your little person, you just need a break.
