Every child deserves an opportunity to reach their maximum potential. In addition to focusing on a child`s academic progress, I always look for opportunities to boost their confidence and self-esteem - as these are crucial for a holistic development. Difficult concepts are broken down in smaller ones through scaffolding using different techniques differentiated according to each child`s individual need. It is important to push each child past their comfort zone, and I do exactly that with the students I tutor by challenging them in different ways. I tutor children across the primary phase, all the way from teaching how to read and write in English, to solving complex problems in Maths, to preparing them for their upcoming SATs or 11+ exams.
I tailor my lessons to cater for each child's individual needs. I have a gentle and friendly approach towards children and I always look for ways to help them make connections between the things they learn and for them to develop a love for learning. I believe that every child is truly special and unique. I have successfully tutored children with specific learning needs, as well as children that have English as an additional language. All my students have made excelled progress in their studies, therefore most of my students come from personal recommendations of happy parents :)

Kate is a British teacher & author. She attended an all-girls grammar school & graduated with a BA in English Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Kent. She went on to receive a Post Graduate Diploma & a Masters in Education.
For 10 years, Kate worked in Hong Kong as a NET (native English teacher), aiding Secondary Schools in establishing an English rich environment, promoting the love of reading & writing through language arts, as well as speech festivals and debate training. She is currently a freelance writer and private tutor.

My name is Mariam and I am a Professional English Tutor. I have over 10 years experience and have dedicated my career to teaching both children and adults, helping them develop their language skills and build confidence in their abilities. Throughout this journey, I have refined my teaching methods to make learning an engaging, interactive, and effective experience for my students.
One of the key techniques I employ in my teaching is the use of presentations. By incorporating visually appealing slides, structured lessons, and clear explanations of grammar, vocabulary and much more.

I am an experienced, qualified teacher and tutor of 20+ years. I am educated to master's level and have expereince teaching and tutoring primary and preparatory school pupils (ages 6 - 13). I can provide home learning support in all primary subjects as well as specialist English tuition. I have had success preparing pupils for SATs and entrance examinations for independent schools, particularly in Cambridge, (United Kingdom), though I am also familiar with Cheltenham schools. I tailor sessions to the individual child's interests and needs, and work with pupils and parents to meet their desired goals, whether these be to build confidence, to develop creativty or to begin entrance exam preparation in earnest. I usually set a short piece of homework at the end of each session and review this with the pupil in the following session.
I am currently working only online via Skype and Zoom to deliver lessons but will also consider other mutually agreeable, secure platforms.
My basic rate is £30 per hour but this may be adjusted up to £35 or down to £25 depending upon the age and number of students, the work involved and any fees charged to me to facilitate tutoring.
Return to School or Transition Support - I can provide educational support for children returning to school in September after a significant time out of a formal educational environment. I can also support those children making important transitions between key stages or who are adjusting to the pace of work in a new school.
Manuscripts and dissertations (master's level) - I offer a proof-reading (typing, spelling and punctuation) and basic editing (grammar, consistency and clarity) service and quote for this on an individual basis.

I have been working as a tutor for the past 6 months, throughly enjoying being able to add to an individuals life. I am a dedicated teacher who has grown in all aspects of teaching since embarking on my career. I have risen to the challenges of teaching and believe that all children can reach their learning potential.

Tutor Experience
I am a 1 to 1 and online tutor working with students in preparation for Independent School Entrance examinations at 7+, !1+,13+ along with the 11+ Examinations for Grammar Schools. I teach English language and music. First, my experience of teaching music. I have extensive experience of working with students at all levels. I have undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in music. I have taught music for the Open University and currently teach music for Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance, where my specialty is the history of opera. I am also a senior member of the examinations team for music at the International Baccalaureate Organisation, with particular responsibility for the extended essay in music ( a subject I have written a guide on). I am a trustee of the Society for Music Analysis, the UK's leading learned society for the promotion of the study of music analysis. Second, my experience of teaching English language. I have extensive experience of teaching adult students. I have taught corporate clients for the past 10 years and for the previous 4 years was an IELTS instructor for Aston American University. I taught students online worldwide and helped many students achieve the result they needed in the test. Lessons were usually conducted on zoom or Skype. I also wrote a PTE Academic Test of English course for Aston American. My tutorials are well prepared, structured, and adapted to your child/ren’s learning style/s. The first Zoom call is an opportunity to discuss their learning objectives; these might be goals such as developing their spoken language skills in French/English, or something more specific such as providing additional support for students with dyslexia.
Whatever your child’s learning needs may be, they will be given a structured learning plan targeting the aspects that they would like to work on (speaking, listening, writing, vocabulary, grammar etc).
In my classes, students benefit from language acquisition as well as learning, which is essentially the process of identifying sounds > associating those sounds with meaning > imitating the sounds to convey meaning.
This process takes practice, so I focus on overcoming obstacles that might inhibit fluency in speech or coherency in writing. For example, many of my students struggle with spoken expression at first due to a lack of confidence. To help with this, I create an interactive learning space where students feel comfortable making mistakes, empowering them to make progress.
Homework and in-class activities are used to target the areas where your child/ren may face difficulties, which we then work through together in class.

I have a BA (Hons) degree in English Literature and a Certificate in Education qualification. I have also passed a TEFL course. When I taught Functional
Skills Englsih at the Isle of Wight college, students belonging to one of my classes were the first in the college to pass their examinations in that subject.
I have been teachin, online, for over three years and, in so doing, I have taught students from all over the world. I have helped some students to improve
their predicated GCSE English Language and Literature grades and I have taught English as a second language to students in China.
