I’m a Master’s degree graduate with a strong passion for the social sciences, offering tutoring in History, Religious Education, and Sociology. My experience as a supply teaching assistant has equipped me with the skills to support students of all abilities in the classroom. As someone with dyslexia, I understand the importance of accessible learning and use inclusive strategies to help students—particularly those with learning differences—build confidence and succeed.
I am currently Head of Sociology at an Academy school in London and have 6 years experience teaching AQA GCSE and A Level Sociology. I also have 2 years experience as a Sociology examiner for paper 3: Crime and Deviance with Theories and Methods. I take pride in supporting each learners needs, whether that is through stretch and challenge or differentiated activities. I use a variety of sources such as mark schemes, examiners comments, Tutor2U and Hectic teachers to gather a vast array of resources to help students learn, which has helped my students achieve A*s in their exams.

With zero prior knowledge of sociology, I started learning sociology with Meliz a month before the AS sociology exam . Meliz is good at teaching exam techniques and concepts .Not only did Meliz make sociology an easier subject to learn and understand , she also helped me with building my confidence . I really enjoyed my lessons with Ms Meliz and they were very productive. I had taken sociolgy as a 4th subject in the last 6 months of my A2 course and joined Ms meliz 15 days before my exams. So I had to cover a 2 year course in a very short time and initially aimed for getting a B but because of her effective teaching style and precise notes I was able to aim for an A/A*. I had tried studying sociolgy from other tutors but didn’t really understand it and if it wasn’t for Ms Meliz I wouldn’t have even thought of getting an A.

Having initially met Meliz in person in her home, it was obvious that her passion, knowledge and willingness to help my daughter would be worth giving Skype lessons a try. My daughter looks forward to her weekly hour lesson on Skype with Meliz. She is patient, friendly, clearly explains and Meliz has been able to discuss the subject in a way that has built confidence. Meliz has been very accommodating to help my daughter with changing lessons around exam dates, she is absolutely fantastic with my daughter and I would highly recommend her.

My situation was quite a unique one, I had contacted Meliz a couple weeks before my final A level exams and I was self-teaching both AS and A2 Sociology in 1 year. Due to my inability to travel, I was still able to get effective sessions via online lessons. From the beginning Meliz was very professional, she was able to work around my complex situation with a more intense approach. Furthermore, she dramatically condensed both AS and A2 in a concise way and helped me tremendously with exam practice. Without her help, I would have no clue on how to answer the questions in the exams. Not only that, but she was able to boost my confidence for the exams and calm my nerves. Overall, a great tutor and one that I`d recommend to anyone struggling with sociology :)

Meliz is an excellent teacher. When our son, who tends to be very sensitive and picky about his teachers, said he really enjoys working with Meliz and that he feels that he gets a lot out of the lessons. He says that Meliz is able to communicate the concepts to him in ways that were different than those that his regular teachers used, and that this helped him understand the concepts much more easily. In addition to this Meliz helps him to revise with different techniques. We highly recommend her.
