I am a Team Leading examiner for GCSE History and A Level Politics and hold an Associate membership from the Chartered Institute of Educational Assessors. I hold my Advance Skills teaching from Warwick University (BECTA) and my teaching certificate from the University of Lancaster. I have written research papers on education and history, published under BECTA (2005/6/7) that analysed the way that students learned. I am an experienced middle manager and have been a School Improvement Advisor for BECTA. I have taught for at The Harrodian school and currently teach History and Politics at The City of London School.
I have taught both AQA and Edexcel A-level Politics (examining for the former). I have a real passion for politics in the UK and the USA. I use current events from the week to highlight the course and allow my students to connect to what they are focusing on.
For History I have a passion for US history and have also taught French Revolution, Mao`s China and Germany. For GCSE I examine for AQA - paper 2 Elizabeth, though have taught both AQA, Edexcel and the Cambridge IGCSE. I can cover most areas.

I am a dedicated and experienced tutor with a strong academic background in Macroeconomics, Media Studies, and Political Science. I recently graduated with a triple major in Economics, Media Studies, and Political Science and am currently pursuing an MSc in Politics and Communication at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), ranked among the top institutions globally for media and social sciences.
Throughout my academic journey, I have consistently excelled in these subjects, achieving A and A+ grades in media and marketing communications courses while honing my expertise in economics and political science. My diverse academic training equips me to provide students with in-depth knowledge and a multidisciplinary approach to learning.
I also bring hands-on experience in teaching and mentoring. As the Media Director of my undergraduate campus media house, I guided students in developing creative and analytical skills. Additionally, my professional experience, which includes working on media campaigns, political communication strategies, and research projects, allows me to offer real-world perspectives that enrich the learning experience.
I believe in fostering an interactive and engaging environment that encourages critical thinking and makes complex concepts accessible. My approach is adaptable to each student’s unique learning needs, ensuring they not only achieve academic success but also develop a deeper interest in the subjects.
With my strong foundation and passion for education, I am eager to contribute to your team and help students excel in their academic pursuits.

I completed my PGCE in History Secondary teaching at the institute of Education in 2004 and since then have worked in a range of state and private schools, as well as tutoring all ages from primary to A Level. I currently teach History and Politics at at top London school. In addition I am an examiner for GCSE, IGCSE and A Level with Edexcel and OCR. As an experienced teacher and tutor, I recognise that all students approach the subject in different ways and have different strengths and areas for improvement. I am a firm believer in positive reinforcement however this must be combined with academic rigour. My work as a GCSE and A Level examiner gives me a valuable insight into what it is that examiners are looking for and I will use this to bring out the best in my students but at the same time help them be as prepared as they can be for public examinations. I am patient and enthusiastic - I love my subjects - and I aim to instil this enthusiasm in my students.

Hi My name is Dolly,
I've been an educator and specialist for over seven years now. I have my degree in Politics & Human Rights Law, graduating as a Scientific Researcher. I assess social policy and train professionals to have trauma informed practice and better safeguarding.
I have the honour of hosting workshops in schools across the country, including universities, to empower young people to achieve their academic goals and advocate for their wellbeing.
As a specialist I have ample training with safeguarding adults and children, to facilitate a safe learning environment. My profession requires that I am up to date on all teaching approaches, providing support for various accessibility needs. I work with vulnerable people everyday, so no matter what assistance you need in learning I'm here to help and NEVER to judge!
My DBS and GDPR training is always up to date and renewed yearly as well as all of my training.
I facilitate learning groups in various community centres, so I'm more than happy to create work slides, homework packs, study notes, engaging worksheets or anything else to make learning fun!
I'm open to some travel but mostly online. My English, written and verbal, is impeccable 😊
I hope to hear from you soon!

In the summer of 2018 I received a Master’s degree in Taiwan and Asia Pacific Studies from Tamkang University, and successfully undertook a CELTA course soon afterwards. I completed a 120 hour TEFL course in 2012, and graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor’s degree in History.
Between February and December 2020 I worked as a Learning Support Assistant at the London Nautical School. I assisted teachers with students who were in a number of different academic years, in a range of subjects. Students at this school came from a range of social and cultural backgrounds. I was responsible for helping students with learning difficulties, and those whose first language wasn’t English. I taught them reading, conversation and grammar skills. I also assisted teachers in managing and teaching entire classes of students.
Before this I was a History teacher for a number of Year 7, 8, 9, and 10 classes at St Albans Girls' School. Students at this school come from a range of social and cultural backgrounds. The school works hard to improve attainment in numeracy and literacy and has clear teaching methods in place to achieve this. The head of department produced lesson plans which all other teachers could use, but from the beginning I made changes to these, and added my own material, in order to adapt them to my own style of teaching.
I have extensive experience in teaching English, as a result of being employed as an English Editor at Kasetsart University in Bangkok, Thailand, between 2012 and 2015. My job at this organisation required me to conduct instruction in a wide range of different courses, and to interact with diverse groups of students. I am confident that I can apply the experience I have gained to any given classroom environment.
I have also worked at the Imperial War Museum in London in a voluntary capacity at weekends. This involved helping to make the exhibits easy to appreciate and use for visitors of all nationalities and sharing the expertise that I have built up regarding this period of history. This allowed me to share my passion for history with others.

I have written 6 GCSE history text books as well as 2 exam technique guides. I have also written an A-level text book with a second one to be published shortly as well.
My main areas of academic expertise are in the following modules for GCSE. The first three I have authored textbooks for:
● Germany: (including the very popular Weimar to Hitler module) ● Medicine through time ● Cold war and international relations ● Crime and punishment through time ● WW1 and WW2 ● Civil rights in America
For A-level (I have nearly completed an A-level textbook for the France in revolution modules and written one for the Russia modules):
● Modern Britain (20th century) ● The British Empire ● Russia ● Germany ● France in Revolution + Napoleon
I may be able to tutor you on other modules, depending on what they are.
I have also tutored politics as well and have written 2 x 15 page help guides on Conservatism and Socialism which I can give to any student free of charge.
The most important thing from your tutor is that they know the subject inside out and having written 6+ books I can give all my students the kind of depth of tuition needed to get the very top grades at both GCSE and A-level.
Tutoring Experience
I love history and politics and after 25 years in the corporate sector I moved into teaching. I taught history and economics recently in a private school in Hampshire, teaching at both GCSE and A-level before focusing on authoring school text books and online tutoring.
What's the best way to learn?
Firstly, let's make the tutorials enjoyable and to guarantee that I use the active learning style of teaching. There's nothing worse than just being lectured to for 50+ minutes so all the lessons are focused on the student engaging with cartoons, photos, paintings, speeches and letters written at the time of the topic being covered. Learning by reviewing primary source material is such a great way to get student engagement and make it a productive and enjoyable experience for them.
So the most productive tutor sessions are divided into 3 segments: the first involves myself and the student discussing a topic from the curriculum, usually something they have studied in class recently. Typically I will regularly question the student on that subject matter to check understanding, typically for 25 minutes and that segment of the lesson will typically revolve around the student learning through analysing primary source material. Then the second part of the lesson would see the student answering a question related to that topic taken from an exam paper but I would work with the student leading them towards the optimal answer. Finally the student would then answer a second question but it would be the student leading the discussion explaining how they would answer it. So the lesson is scaffolded as the student gradually does more of the work, such that by the end, they are leading the discussion.
