My name is José María de Lucas Sacristán, though most know me as Chema Sacristán. I've been a professional drummer since 2004. I'd like to share a brief biography of my career in the U.K. In 2002, at 19, I realized my love for music and moved to Bristol, U.K., where I lived for four years. Bristol exposed me to all sorts of music, including rock, jazz, world music, and more. I played my first shows and worked with over five different local bands, gaining valuable experience. In 2006, I moved to London to study at Tech Music Schools, known as "Drum Tech," where I completed my higher education and earned a BMUS in Popular Music Performance (Hons), licensed by West London University. After completing my degree in 2011, I worked exclusively as a performing drummer and drum teacher, giving private lessons in my own studio, Oktopus Music Services, in North West London. In the past nine years, I've had the privilege of performing, recording, and writing with some of the best musicians in the London and U.K. scene, such as Kevin Glasgow (one of Europe's best bassists), Robin Banerjee (Amy Winehouse's guitarist), Roberto Manzin (Zucchero), Felipe Martíns (Emeterians), Juan Whist (The Voice National Spanish TV), and many others. I've showcased in most of London's live music venues and with the best U.K. and European entertainment agencies, such as Scarlett Entertainment, Full Stop Entertainment, and more. After 20 years of professional experience, I've decided to focus fully on teaching drums and performing. My studies and extensive career reflect my devotion to music, and I've mastered many techniques, including improvising, independence, coordination, and vocabulary in most music styles of modern popular music and some world music genres. My target is to share my passion for music, drums, and percussion on stage and during private lessons. Hi, my name's Serban. I'm a professional drummer/percussionist with 22 years experience performing live in rock and symphonic orchestras across Europe. My qualifications, teaching experience, passion and long standing dedication to drumming, started at 12 years of age, and I started my musicianship at 6, learning the piano. I am a friendly and professional music teacher who loves helping my students experience the joy of music. Whether you're already a competent player or an absolute beginner, technique and musicianship will be at the forefront of your lessons with me. My aim is to transmit my passion and love for music to you, and help you develop, and have a great time doing so. Educator - 2013-present – I first began teaching drum lessons at Hazelwood school in 2013, as part of my teaching assistant role. Since graduating from LCCM in 2018, I’ve taught drums in and around the London area, both privately and peripatetically, for HaytoHome music and most recently for the School of Rhythm in Penge. My students range from age 6-60 and I cover beginner to advanced level. I currently teach around 20 students a week, and have helped them achieve distinctions in Rock school and Trinity examinations whilst furthering their stylistic and technical awareness. I’m also experienced in teaching via Zoom and Skype, and am DBS checked. Outisde of teaching, i regulalry perform function gigs accorss the UK and am part of an originals band, Borderlines.
For ten years I've been playing professionally in various contexts: Tiger Lillies, Michael Rosen, Hot Swing Boheme, Jowe Head, Psychoyogi and many more in the jazz, pop, punk, rock, progressive rock, funk and cabaret genres. I love how diverse cultures, mediums, ideas and experiences are linked by music, which has given me a more enriched life.
Before achieving my 2:1 Bachelor's Honours degree at DrumTech/London College of Music, I was an actor and self-taught drummer. But I've also worked as a singer and done sessions as a guitarist, keyboardist and bassist in some contexts, and the connection between drumming and these areas is huge. I learned my musical voice from experimentation, composition and perspiration. Dancing has helped me discover it too.
My latest DBS equivalent is the ACRO international criminal record check in 2019.
These days I'm usually teaching in person at Hicaz Studio in Stoke Newington, east London, which is available. But in my home in north London we can have lessons on video with a little more time flexibility in my dedicated music studio.
Playing well and teaching are two different things. I love to study and learn from what challenges each student brings to the session. We each have a unique musical voice, and that is the reason we learn all these technical skills, rather than conforming to a type.
I want you to be motivated to teach yourself as I did. I have trained students who went on to complete grades and do professional work. In my 10 years of teaching experience, I've also experience with learning difficulties as an amanuensis in universities across London, tutoring excluded students in north London, and working in formal classroom settings as a teaching assistant. Currently I'm training in supporting students with dyslexia and related difficulties.
The most well-being I get from music is singing, which I have done since I was young, and since then have also sang lead vocals and backing vocals professionally with Tiger Lillies and Nathan Futo, Burford Society and in my own songs. But this also informs all the music work I do.

For graded studies, Trinity Guildhall exams are recommended, but there are alternatives.
Aural (listening) based learning is offered with an emphasis on expanded music listening. Playing by ear, call and response, improvisation, or other listening based approaches are often underestimated. Playing depends on our improved listening, at every point. Music in a sense is the teaching of listening.

Touring Experience
Playing internationally with the Tiger Lillies cabaret band has given me ample experience in dynamics, jazz ballads, minimalism, brushes, blues, backing vocals, visual elements of performance, playing with an orchestra (Berg orchestra), comedy, adapting to criteria (hired kits, tuning, hardware limitations, cymbals and experimentation) sound tech, theatre pieces (movement and dance), problem solving and performing confidence. It has given me a background in touring and all the associated challenges, skills and stories involved in it.

Philip P. has been a musician for nearly thirty years. He has been teaching for the best part of fifteen years and has taught hundreds of students. Furthermore, he has recently received a distinction in the RSL Level 6 Teaching Diploma. Philip has worked with numerous artists including Chris Rea, Andy Flanagan, and Mr E to name just a few. He has also appeared on multiple recordings including the pop-rock band Seed’s debut single ‘Silver Lining’ and their album ‘Midnight Walking’ (AMG Records). Philip has also featured on the ‘One Hope’ album (ICC Records) as well as many other recordings. In 2012 Philip performed with Jazz Juice as part of the Olympic torch relay. More recently Philip worked with the Mouth of Ghosts who appeared on BBC Radio 6. Their debut single ‘When the Sun Sets’ was selected as one of the songs of the year by BBC Introducing. Philip is currently working with the bands Discovered, Beaten Tracks as well as being the full-time drummer for Fluent in Grey who recently released their first single ‘Lost’. He teaches in and around the London area as well as the Ash Bash Drum School in Bracknell. Philip also performs all over the U. K. Philip has also composed, scored and performed all the drum parts for a musical entitled ‘Legend’ by Edwin Pillans.
My teaching is based on playing to actual music, not boring, repetitive exercises. We might work on Trinity Rock and Pop graded tunes and learning those charts, or your own favourite music that you've always wanted to learn and jam to.
Obviously specific drum and snare related exercises have their uses, but only to get you playing what you want to play.
Whatever your style, I get you results.
Those results though, take a bit of effort from you too, and that's cool, isn't it? I'll make sure that you know what you need to be practising to move forward, and you just need to do that. Deal?!
I teach at my studio (online and in-person) and peripatetically in schools and colleges. I am the Lead Music Mentor for Essex Music Service (EMS), running and facilitating projects for children with learning disabilities. I spent some time at Barnet and Southgate College as their Music Lecturer specialising in teaching their SEN and those with Autism, PMLD and LD. I'm also the Musical Inclusion Specialist for MusicNet East.
Most of all, I'm a professional drummer and experienced teacher, offering friendly and bespoke tuition from my studio in Rainham, Essex (or online via FaceTime/Skype/Zoom). I teach semi-professionals to absolute beginners, but am also trained in teaching children and young people.
