I am an experienced Mathematics tutor, helping students from GCSE to university level for over twelve years. I have a BSc in Mathematics from Imperial College, London and an MSc in Financial Mathematics from Warwick University.
Tutorial sessions would normally take place at my home in Stanmore or online.
INITIAL SESSION: I take the opportunity to understand more about the student, past exam results, other subjects being studied and future goals – this enables me to plan further sessions tailored to the areas which need most attention at the right time.
CONFIDENCE: I try to help students gain confidence in their ability by working on areas of weakness first. I try to break problems down into manageable chunks and explain those parts that do not make sense in more detail, using my communication skills to explain concepts in a simple way.
HOMEWORK PROBLEMS: these are set to consolidate what is covered during the sessions and to identify gaps in the learning; so feedback from this process is crucial to ensure that progress is continually being made.
EXAM PREPARATION: more emphasis on past papers, consolidation of knowledge and exam strategy, but this depends on individual circumstances. I provide my own solutions to past papers questions as needed.

RE: TEACHER/TUTOR MATHEMATICS AND SCIENCES I am passionate about teaching children and adults, and as a teacher, I hope to be a role model, that cultivates in young and elder people, open minds, the knowledge and skills, and ability to look at they would critically, and the belief in ones' capacity to make positive contributions to society. I have always excelled at Mathematics and feel I possess the skills that enable to me make a positive contribution to teaching with the Mathematics and Science Curriculums. Throughout my forty-five-year teaching career in Maths beginning from the school I have gained extensive skills in training and management, alongside working directly with children in all ages. Through these roles I have seen the impact that my experience within teaching has had on my ability to assess and report on a range of issues. I have also undertaken regular academic study and professional training to ensure that I can offer feedback, allowing me to provide successful mentoring as well as assessment. My first experience of teaching mathematics for children started in 1972, when I was in A Levels at Ananda College, Colombo, Sri Lanka, needed to cover the GCE O Level Math Teacher. Later, as a student tutor I work with small group of children, helping with numeracy and English reading and writing. In 1974 when I was in the Technical College, Sri Lanka, I went on Student Tutoring Scheme where I gained experience in teaching arithmetic and literacy, and achieved experience gave me the basic understanding of a working classroom, and the knowledge that working with and educating children would be something that I would like to continue in my future life. My undergraduate studies in Belarus have covered a wide range of the content involved in teaching further mathematics at A Levels, and my postgraduate studies broadened my knowledge in higher university mathematics. I have demonstrated my communication skills through giving presentations and lecturing, both individually and in groups. Furthermore, I followed a Diploma course" Teaching Russian as Foreign a Language", which gave me further insight into teaching. Through my postgraduate degree I also gained time management, organization skills and analysing and interpretation of evidence and the consistent recording of relevant findings. While I was working in the Construction Industry in Sri Lanka, to be keep in touch in teaching I have worked as a visiting lecturer for Universities and Colleges. As a NCTEM PD LEAD and a Tutor/teacher in mathematics for the UK schools and individuals, I have planned detailed secessions/ lessons with basic to develop teaching methods and qualities using accurate mathematical vocabulary and writing logical answers to questions by informing and influencing participants, and improved understanding, awareness, and ability to use functional mathematics skills. I have adhered to consistent high standards of professional conduct. Having worked with all the ages in education in the UK, Belarus and Sri Lanka, I have shown an ability to adapt swiftly and effectively in international contexts, ensuring I provide the same high standards in each. My passionate and reflective approach to ensuring an excellent education for all children has not only shown in management and administrative work, however, but has also inspired enthusiasm within the educational environment and I look forward to being able to contribute to teaching profession in the UK.
I am school teacher (since June 2018) who has started practising since 2013. There were more than 300 students during my practising. Because I was studying in MIPT, I worked as a teacher of course "Olympiad Maths" when we prepared kids to competitions of different level. And then I was invited to give the course on 2 Summer International Schools. 90% of my students became students of MIPT and most of them are students of other bests universities of Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Czech Republic. I like to have friendly and "free" chemistry on my lessons. That's why all of my students don't have any complex to make mistake during solving problems. I think it is one of the most important to show everyone has right to make mistake. The most popular question among pupils is "How we can use solving of this problem in everyday life?". The main idea of mine is to show them how easy and practical maths is. And, of course, the biggest part of my teaching is dividing one problem on little problems which allows to understand the subject.
I am an experienced and passionate teacher and tutor for 9 years. I really enjoy sharing my knowledge and experience! I always prefer to discuss child's progress with his/her parents by the end of each assessment. That would assist me to meet the expectations of parents.
