Allow me to introduce myself - I'm Nelson, an experienced educator who has been teaching in secondary schools for over six years. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of teaching in both London and Australia, enriching the lives of students through subjects such as maths, science, chemistry, and psychology.
My journey as an educator has been driven by a profound passion for building children's mindsets and fostering a belief in the power of growth. I firmly embrace the concept of the growth mindset, knowing that when students are equipped with the right mindset, they can achieve remarkable things. I have been a Science and Maths teacher since 2007 and an Assistant Headteacher/Director of Data since 2016. I completed my undergraduate degree at King's College London and my postgraduate teaching qualification at University of Oxford. I have taught students of various backgrounds, with age ranging from 7 to 18. I have had tutoring experience since the age of 17. I am currently teaching in an inner city secondary school. I am the winner of Jack Petchey's Leaders Award, voted by the pupils in teh school.
As a native Chinese speaker, I can also teach Chinese EAL pupils communications in English in preparation for moving to an English speaking country/studying abroad.

I am a highly experienced, flexible and very versatile tutor, with advanced degrees and teaching qualifications in business, finance, history, literature, art, classics, maths and sciences. I teach at Middlesex University, and also conduct face to face and online training for a variety of other clients, from teenagers up to adult professionals. I have experience with exam prep (IB, CFA, CISI) as well as undergrad and postgrad courses in the subjects listed above. I can travel across London or even overseas for the right assignments. I believe I charge fairly for value provided, and promote an engaging, enjoyable teaching and learning style.
I would like to be able to develop my skills through tutoring and by having opportunities to discover which techniques work best for learning. I’m very kind and patient and I like to write down my observations so that I can collect my thoughts on which ways best to study. I’m still young but that just means my creativity is still high.
These are the prices I charge for tutoring:
- £17 an hour for helping them with work set by school such as homework, reading books from school and etc
- £20 an hour for contacting the school, see how they are doing in school tests, how they are behaving/working in school and their main difficulties that the teachers have observed every 2 weeks or once a month and what homework is set in addition to helping them with work set by school.
- £25 an hour to create own scheme separate from what school has provided such as printing off activities that I find more beneficial
- £27 an hour to bring own equipment such as reading books, whiteboard, cubes for maths
- £30 an hour for all of the above or a mixture.
Also dependant on distance travelling.

I am Merceris C. www.*** I am a graduate of Bachelor in Secondary Education major in Biology last March 23, 2004 at Josefina H Cerilles State College Main Campus, Mati, San Miguel Zamboanga del Sur. I was able to teach different levels in Education at church, at school and in the community. It is my heart's desire to impart knowledge to strengthen lives. I love to serve people.
