Whilst Head of Photography at an inner London secondary school for over 4 years, my GCSE Photography classes achieved the highest grades in the school for two years running. I set fun and enjoyable exercises, explain and break instructions, methods, and assignments down into understandable bites, and will provide you with learning materials to simplify tasks and meet the needs of students with a range of practical and academic abilities.

I have been involved in photography as an amateur and professional for over 40 years. I owned and ran a professional chemical-based darkroom in N. Wales from 1984-92. Photoshop is considered the industry standard for photo editing. I would not consider myself a Photoshop “guru” although I’ve been using the programme since version 3. 0 in 1993 - There is always more to learn.
I liked to think I’m meticulous and concise, I always strive to do good work. I’m passionate about photography and the photograph. I enjoy sharing my knowledge and insight. I have done studio, landscape, stll life, events and product photography. In fact, it may be easier to say I cannot take photographs underwater or in space. Everything else I’m OK with.

PHOTOGRAPHY TUITION
I hold a PhD in Art and Communication with Photography as my field of specialism and a PGCE teaching certificate in Post Compulsory Education. At the same time I am a practising photographic artist with an interest in abstract photography. I have a comprehensive understanding of contemporary photographic practices and of theoretical approaches to the subject, and also have a strong technical grounding both in traditional and in digital processes. I am experienced in all stages of the development of photographic projects, from early conceptualisation through to printing and exhibiting. I have exhibited nationally and internationally in both solo and group shows. My selection for the Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2008 Exhibition in Liverpool and London is one highlight among them.
As an artist and teacher I insist on the highest professional standards and I emphasise clear and direct communication and honesty throughout. I offer private lessons to photography students and any other individuals who would be interested in 'how to' technical skills sessions, getting support in college and university studies or in developing a photographic body of work etc. and would be in need for some expert advice. I am a Greek native speaker coming originally from the beautiful island of Crete. I have been living in England for the last 15 years and I have been teaching privately for the last 9 years. I hold a PhD in Art and Communication and a PGCE teaching certificate in Post Compulsory Education. These qualifications provided me with a very good command of the English Language. I am very capable of playing between Greek and English and can help English speakers have a wonderful experience of my native language. I am an educator and manager with over 15 years’ experience as a lecturer across compulsory and tertiary education. Aside from being Programme Leader for the Bournemouth University BA (Hons) Photography course for 6 years.
My career has involved the management of change within an increasingly technological driven media workplace. I can offer 20+ years experience in this sector with particular knowledge of supported development and management of student learning. Established through my association with photographic and video work on a freelance basis and my time spend teaching at local colleges and universities. Business development has been a particular interest and success, with experience of all types of video production provision. In 2014 I set up NOW East Durham ( www.*** ), a social enterprise community magazine to ensure job seekers in particular from the 18-24 year age range can engage with a creative “real world” experience to increase their job prospects.
