Hello, I am a university student studying in the heart of London. I was born and raised in London and experienced great success at school and at university due to amazing and unforgettable teachers. This is the foundation of my commitment to helping out my students, whatever their abilities may be. Currently, I am studying a bachelor Honours degree specialising in History. I have been tutoring and teaching for 3 years in various settings – tutoring small and large groups, private individual tutoring, and teaching in rural, suburban, and urban classroom and home www.*** ;
I pride myself on my excellent communication skills and friendly demeanour. I endeavour to tutor seriously although I`m naturally quite a laid-back person, which is quickly recognised by pupils and puts them at ease. I also relate well to pupils because the age gap is not so large. Students often look forward to our lessons, which they say motivates them and helps them to learn. I really value getting to know my students individually and enjoy learning from them through conversation. I provide textbook recommendations and I can be very flexible with lesson days. Past parents and students echo my sentiments, as proven by reviews.
Sociology lessons in Surbiton, UK.
I studied Sociology, Psychology, and Philosophy at A-Level, and achieved 3 grades of A (Sociology), B (Philosophy), C (Psychology).
I am currently studying Sociology at University, and have always found that helping others is something I love - hence why I am interested in tutoring. I don't believe that everything when learning should be about reading through a textbook; discussions and small activities are also key. When studying Sociology, many different views of society are learned, and your view is as important! This is why I believe discussions around beliefs, views of society, potential debates, etc. are vital when studying Sociology (not only to enhance the learning experience but to enjoy studying too!).
This is my first time starting tutoring, so it is as new to me as it may be to you. Do not worry, we are all students of the world! I have had a short-term experience in a school, where I was an assistant to a teacher in a Secondary school. This opened my eyes up to the fact that we all learn in different ways and at different paces. No matter how you learn, be it via informative videos to learning through discussions, we will find a way to strengthen our passion and increase your knowledge and confidence!
My approach is relaxed but tailored to your needs/weaknesses (we can discuss this early on so we can move forward and work on improving your understanding in these areas). I am, like many students, not a fan of simply reading pages and pages of information, hence why I like to display keywords and information in note form on a PowerPoint (easier to remember and easier to digest!).
Studying sociology may be a bit daunting at first with the introduction of new keywords and theories, but I am here to try and help ease that process of beginning to study Sociology and to also create an environment for you to openly discuss and air thoughts about the learning material.
