Having recently completed my PGCE in Primary Education and gaining my QTS; my knowledge of the curriculum, teaching strategies, and methods and my experience puts me in great stead to be an excellent, motivating, thorough and positive tutor for children at the primary level.Further, I have an excellent understanding of the 7+ exams and can focus my teaching towards any areas of learning towards this.I have many strategies for making learning accessible for children, being dyslexic myself, I understand the different difficulties and struggles children can have in school and ways to overcome barriers to learning.I have a passion for education and enjoy making learning fun and engaging. My specialism is computing and I, therefore, love to use computing as a cross-curricular tool in learning.Additionally, Astronomy is a strong passion of mine and something I am keen to spark and promote in children where it can lead to many interesting thoughts and questions and relates to so many schemes of learning.I believe in learning from one's environment and exploring the world around us and therefore ensure that when I teach the curriculum, I make the learning experience as enjoyable, relevant, and accessible as possible.
My first experience in teaching was working in conductive education, with children with cerebral palsy. Further, I worked as a teaching assistant at a large school, working with years 1, 2 and 5. In the mornings I worked with whole classes and in the afternoon I ran group or 1-1 sessions with children that needed extra support, such as children with special educational needs. Additionally, I ran an Astronomy club for year 2 and year 5. I planned, taught, and assessed each child in my class and shared my passion and enthusiasm for the subject with them.I have since completed a PGCE in primary education at the Institute of Education at University College London (UCL). During my placement, I worked primarily with a year 5 class, planning, teaching, and assessing up to 80% of the timetable. On this placement, I taught consecutive lessons in year 1 and 2 also, mostly focusing on Phonics and Maths. My specialism is Computing and I ran a Computing project with my year 5 class on this placement, collecting and subsequently presenting my findings to my colleagues at UCL. This project investigated the ways in which Computing can be used to promote cross-curricular learning and was thoroughly enjoyable, successful, and interesting.I was also lucky enough to gain valuable experience on placement at Brooklyn New School in New York, where I taught year 2. My main focus at this school was Literacy and Numeracy, as well as Philosophy for Children (which is now on the National Curriculum) and I have a broad and well-rounded knowledge of a variety of teaching strategies and methods.Additionally, I run a YouTube channel providing lessons in Astronomy for children and adult beginners. I plan and prepare the lessons most relevant and accessible to children, where it can link to the national curriculum.
I would love to share my knowledge and enthusiasm for Astronomy with adults, as well as children.

I have been a Primary School teacher for the past 4 years and have experience teaching KS1 and KS2. I am currently a Year 6 teacher, Environmental Science Lead and completing my Masters in 'Teaching and Learning' to help develop my teaching abilities to ensure all children learn. During my PGCE, I specialised in maths but I am very confident teaching all subjects according to the National Curriculum.
As a tutor, I am aware lessons need to be structured better to support your child in accessing the work and I am confident I will be able to find engaging yet challenging ways to help them progress. I have experience working with children with SEN needs and so I have readily available resources to help your child if necessary.
Previously, I have tutored for Year 6 SATs, 11+ exam, Year 1 phonics screening, Year 2 SATs and Year 3 children.

We guarantee small classes – no bigger than 16 children in the main school and nine per class in Reception. We believe that this is integral to children establishing strong relationships with their teacher, getting the support they need, developing a strong work ethic and both maximising and achieving their potential.
Classes are made up of children from a wide range of backgrounds and abilities, but the one thing they have in common is motivation. We do not compare children with one another; we challenge them against their own goals and next steps. This allows children to feel safe, be creative and be curious instead of managing anxiety about ‘not keeping up’. Happy, confident students are available to learn – they develop a rich and positive sense of who they are and can be.
Each class has a name:
Sprites (Reception) Pegasus (Year 1) Dragons (Year 2) Unicorns (Year 3) Griffins (Year 4) Minotaurs (Year 5) Centaurs (Year 6) Chalkers (Years 7-9)

Tutoring with a difference! I believe that every child has extraordinary capacities and tremendous talents! I have spent a total of four years in education and I have worked as a KS3 Cover Teacher, a KS1 and KS2 Teaching Partner, a SEN Drama Facilitator and working abroad as an EAL Coordinator. During this time I have had the absolute privilege to colloborate with a diverse range of learners and through this I have built a bank of techniques and skills that will enable your child to discover and celebrate what's unique about them as well as educating them back into their creative capacities. My main focus is on the 4Cs: Creativity. Communication. Colloboration. Confidence. I provide an environment that is both safe and stimulating for the mind. My style is both personal and collaborative, as well as, creative and dynamic. I draw from a range of resources, whether it is art, music, drama or literature to find ways for your child to actively engage with the curriculum. My main focus is to build a learner who is not afraid to take risks, a leader in their area of interest and a contributor in their local community. Graduated from the University of Exeter with BA in Drama and Theatre Studies. Trained and acted in TV, Film, Commercial and Theatre. Completed a PGCE in Primary Education in St Mary's University, TEFL trained, PSHE Lead, Shakespeare Coordinator and will be teaching Year 6 this year. Impacting a generation. One child at a time.

First Class Learning Orpington School, Learning Centre
|
One of our First Class Learning tutors will meet with you to discuss how we can help your child with maths or English. They will then sit down with your child and complete an assessment to determine which path is most suitable for them. Once we have established your child’s needs, we will put together a bespoke course of action that will support and encourage your child’s learning.
If you feel happy with our plan and that we are the best option for you and your child, they will then be able to start attending regular classes at the centre. In these classes they will complete a short piece of work which will be marked, returned and discussed with the tutor, who will give them a detailed programme of homework to be completed before the next class.

Just as in SATs, GCSE, A ’ Level and Entrance exams, your child will use traditional pencil and paper to work out maths calculations, answer comprehension questions, write sentences, essays, stories, undertake grammar and punctuation exercises.
