I tutor for English, History, Politics, Philosophy, Psychology, Religious Studies and Sociology at GCSE and AS/A2 Level. I have been tutoring since 2014, and have gained extensive experience working for several families, offering tuition and academic coaching over the years. I have helped several students' gain the confidence and attain the academic success they deserve. When I am not tutoring, I can be found studying for my Masters in Education at Cambridge University. Having taught the AQA A Level Sociology specification my specialism is in the compulsory unity of education, crime & deviance, theory and research methods with the choosen units of families & households and beliefs in society.
I left teaching in August 2019 to complete a masters at warwick university in Sociology so my time is flexible.
I am happy to help with essay practice or to cover key content, provide exam tips or work on model answers.
Students are individuals with nuanced and complex educational needs. However, in some cases, even the best schools and universities can fail to maximise young people’s potential and prevent them from flourishing as they should. My approach as a tutor is to adapt to the needs of each student and to encourage personal growth, build self-belief and instil a long-lasting ability to learn independently.
I have lectured at Ruskin College Oxford in the social sciences for over 8 years, at the same time, I have tutored pupils from many of the best schools in the country, including Cheltenham College and Harrow. As well as this I have tutored gifted students from state schools and have been instrumental in gaining them Oxbridge places, as well as other leading UK’s institutions. As well one-to-one lessons, I have worked, over many years with my students to present their best possible selves in personal statements for university applications.
Teaching and learning is my life and when I take on a student I feel a deep responsibility toward them. I feel this is the key to the successes I have had.
I am currently Head of Sociology at an Academy school in London and have 6 years experience teaching AQA GCSE and A Level Sociology. I also have 2 years experience as a Sociology examiner for paper 3: Crime and Deviance with Theories and Methods. I take pride in supporting each learners needs, whether that is through stretch and challenge or differentiated activities. I use a variety of sources such as mark schemes, examiners comments, Tutor2U and Hectic teachers to gather a vast array of resources to help students learn, which has helped my students achieve A*s in their exams.
I have over 16 years in the education sector, teaching as a Head of Department and as a Principal Examiner.
I specialise in GCSE and A Level Social Sciences, Sociology, Psychology and Health & Social Care, Special Educational Needs (SEN), although, other subjects are offered at primary, secondary and further education levels.
Tuition is flexible and can be offered on a regular basis or just as one- www.*** ;
I have excelled in my GCSE'S with grade 9's and passed all my subjects. Having studied for the past 6 years towards achieving an Islamic Theology degree, I have grasped the Arabic and Urdu Language. I am an excellent GCSE tutor; evident through the feedback given by my 25 GCSE students. I have previously mentored a year 11 student towards achieving high grades in maths. Chosen as an English Ambassador for A-level students has excelled my experience in teaching. I have completed a teaching enhancement wherein I acquired the teaching standards and efficient methods of teaching. Furthermore, I have completed several teaching courses under Open University. I would say I have relevant experience and knowledge to tutor.
I am an experienced teacher of psychology and sociology and am currently head of social science in the school I work at in Nottingham. A-Level Sociology (AQA) - Families and Households, Education, Beliefs in Society, Theory, Research Methods, Methods in Context
I oversee the Sociology teaching of 200+ GCSE and A-Level students on a daily basis. In tutoring my clients I draw on this experience to swiftly diagnose core strengths and weaknesses in both knowledge and skills, before breaking down progressive steps on how to improve. I use my comprehensive understanding of mark schemes and criteria to show clients where and how they meet Assessment Objectives (AO skills) and where they fall short. Clients are provided with a variety of resources that can be used beyond tutoring sessions to develop their skills. I also draw on my 8 years experience as a 'real-life' sociologist in helping students understand complex sociological issues and concepts.

I'm currently working as the Head of Humanities at The Bourne Academy and have been teaching Edexcel and WJEC History for over 10 years locally. I've also worked as an exam associate for Edexcel for 6 years marking summer exams. I feel that I understand the specifications for Medicine, Germany, Cold War and Elizabeth extremely well and would feel comfortable adapting my knowledge to meet the requirements for other exam board specifications. I've also been instructing on AQA Alevel Cold War and the British Empire for over 5 years and have also served as an examiner.
If a longer term tutoring relationship is established, students will get access to a bespoke Google Classroom with lessons and resources designed to promote maximum success and independence.
My passion for History drives much of who I am and consider myself a good communicator, highly motivational and proficient with one to one intervention. When I'm not teaching I love to run outdoors on hills, travel and spend time with my chocolate labrador.
