My methodology is tailored to each student needs and the progress is monitored regularly. I am very confident with the methods I use as I tutor at different levels which means I can choose the right level based on student needs. I always follow a simple approach in teaching Maths I teach in a clear simple style and I make sure the student understands by testing.
I plan my lessons in advance based on student needs! I am flexible, I can do practice based on exam papers for higher levels or I can also do individual lesson plans for any topic on lower levels. I am confident with all levels.
For each lesson I send notes and I also provide workbooks and homework !
In my free time I enjoy going to the gym. I also enjoy decorating my flat and also cooking!

I have over 15 years experience in Teaching, and over 12 years experience in Private Tutoring. I currently offer both face-to-face in person tutoring for 1:1 or small groups. I cater for each child's specific needs through appropriate differentiation, and according to their individual interests. I strive to make the learning fun and engaging, and adapt the lesson as we go to ensure the most enjoyment and motivation. My lessons are usually 1 hour long, depending on the needs and abilities of the child and I cover the ages from KS1 up to GCSE in both English and Maths. I also offer home schooling sessions to individuals who are unable to access the mainstream education system, whether it be from a SEND need, a preference or from anxiety, for example. These sessions cover the Core subjects as well as teaching Life Skills such as cooking, woodwork and sewing etc. In addition to this, I offer discrete tutoring for adults in Maths and English (Reading).

I have a broad teaching background working with students of all ages, from primary school to sixth form. In addition, I have hands on experience supporting children with disabilities which I developed through my volunteering work at Marjorie McClure school where I gained valuable skills in adapting my teaching approach to meet their unique needs. I use a flexible teaching approach to accommodate a wide range of learning needs. By employing strategies such as diagrams, analogies, and active recall techniques, I help students grasp complex concepts and retain information more effectively. My goal is to build student’s confidence in their abilities, enabling them to achieve their academic objectives. Additionally, I provide guidance for students preparing for entrance exams, including the 11+ and UCAT helping them to develop the skills and the confidence needed for them to succeed. I’m a kind and patient individual which helps me a build a welcoming environment for my students where they can openly ask questions and check their understanding enabling them to progress in their learning.

I've been a teacher and tutor for over 30 years and feel I'm just about getting the hang of it. In addition to teaching content, I focus particularly on getting my students to think more deeply about how and why they study, helping them learn better how to learn, That really is the fun of teaching. Essentially, I try to provide the kind of education and support I would want for my own children. Not that I actually do provide that for my own children, of course; I’ll be looking for some other sucker to tutor those little monkeys. I work in the North Kent area (principally in and around Gravesend and Medway) and specialise in maths and physics, but also run sessions on essay writing (which concentrate on improving grammar, punctuation and structure). Most of my students are studying A-level or IB, but I also run GCSE and 11+ sessions. Although offering individual tuition from time to time, I mainly run small groups, classes and crammers, which provide a better education at far lower cost.
In addition to offering personal tuition, I also produce free video tutorials for those unable to afford help (or for whom a trip to the bucolic paradise of North Kent is sufficiently unfeasible or unpalatable). The library is currently small but will doubtless grow with my children (who are the reason I currently have so little time to make more – either videos and children). In terms of qualifications, I hung around Cambridge till they gave me a couple of degrees to go away, then repeated the trick at Oxford a few years later. I've therefore acquired a bachelors in physics, masters in history/philosophy and theology, and a doctorate in theology. Which displays either commendably diverse interests or an inability to stick at anything. My wife suggests the latter.

My name is Seun Michael www.*** Teaching has always been a passion. Because of my love for teaching and the opportunities it gives to make meaningful impact the lives of people, I have always strived to equip myself in order to competently face the challenges of being an educator. Education is the bedrock of any society. I believe teaching is the worthiest cause in the aspiration of making our societies and the world a better place.
I began teaching after my National Diploma from The Polytechnic Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria where I studied Electrical/electronic engineering. I spent two years teaching and by the end of this experience, I knew I wants to be a teacher. The usual challenges attributed to teaching such as lack of institutional support and the rising indifference toward education by students only excited me to seek solutions. I was sure this solution would only make me a better equipped teacher. My resourcefulness was brought to the fore as I often had to rely on ingenuity to provide teaching aids where none was available. I also learnt that the traditional linear method of teaching which rendered students’ passive recipients of knowledge relying solely on the teacher was not enough to sustain the students’ interest. I therefore made my classes fun, engaging and participatory. I found that students are often active and willing collaborators when given responsibilities and if they can relate well with the subject matter. They also gained confidence and were less likely to be unruly.
The curriculum is designed to guide teaching and learning outcomes. A teacher must have impeccable mastery of the curriculum content in order to properly instruct the students. The latter, too having no doubts in the teacher’s abilities would willingly lend their support. In light of this, I enrolled at the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, Nigeria to study Physics. After obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree in 2017, I went ahead to acquire a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the National Teachers Institute, Ibadan Centre and then teacher certification from the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN). From the knowledge and experience gathered over the years, I consider myself competent in teaching physics and mathematics which I have done for about fifteen years now. Many of the students which I have taught are now graduates while some are doing well in various Nigeria Universities.
As an enthusiastic, self-motivated dependable and diligent person I believe in developing myself as an example of what I want my students to be in character and learning. I have always taken advantage of available opportunities in order to acquire the excellence which I desire in my students. Coming from a background of the use of the traditional chalk-board, I have endeavored to develop myself by getting computer skills via online tutoring. This enables me to teach with modern teaching aids such as YouTube, flash drive, wireless mouse, projector and so on.
Most often I am called upon to help instruct other teachers in order for them to cope with modern technological aids.
I am a mature team worker with good interpersonal skills able to work well in a group as well as use my own initiative. In the various schools where I have taught, I often help in organizing co-curricular activities for helping students develop problem solving, numeracy as well as critical reasoning skills. I believe that knowledge of the academics must translate to real life applications. Apart from regular examinations, I encourage and help to organize quizzes and games which encourage reasoning and team building skills. Working together with other members of staff, we explore online resources adapting existing ideas and creating activities to meet the needs of our students. I particularly enjoy these moments as they enhance students-teacher relationships as well as afford informal evaluation of the academic work. This is most vital in an effort to make students realize that the educational process is not merely aimed at cerebral development leading to mere acquisition of academic certificates but the development of abilities and awareness for the betterment of the society.
A teacher role is multi-faceted. As a role-model, counselor and ad hoc parent to mention a few, his or her role includes guiding and protecting his or her wards. Societal ills, emotional, physical as well as economic challenges constantly tend to limit students’ response to the teachers efforts as an educator. I endeavor within the general context of the classroom and occasional opportunities one-on-one discourse to motivate and direct the students to make positive decisions. I understand that it is not mine to impose on students or to judge them. My role is to guide them along accepted norms and ethics.
I am flexible and can adapt to most changing situations. I know that each work place is dynamic possessing its own challenges and opportunities as well as limitations. I therefore quickly learn to cope and work within laid down rules and regulations.
Although I have little experience in teaching students with special needs or disabilities, I have the opinion, based on personal experience, that special needs students are not lacking in abilities only requiring specialized skills in teaching them. Skills which can be acquired given the right opportunities and motivation.
I am interested in the field of information technology especially in the field of data science. I intend to explore the possibilities of analyzing and interpretation of data for educational advancement and development in high schools across the world.
I am particularly excited at the prospect of working as a tutor on this platform because it will give me the opportunity of gaining global experience while adding value to the students.

So you want some additional tuition for your primary-aged child – great!
But what things are important to you in choosing the right tutor for your child?
You could hire a local University student cheaply…surely, they will know and be able to teach your child what they need, right? After all, they passed their A Levels recently, so they are ‘in touch’ with school life and what children need….aren’t they?
Or do you consider any of the following as the minimum?
Teaching Qualifications?
Actual recent or current experience as a teacher?
Knowledge of the National Curriculum?
Enhanced DBS check?
Well, a qualified teacher is a step in the right direction for sure. The curriculum knowledge a qualified teacher can bring can be priceless in supporting your child towards their academic goals.
What is the Top Tutor 4 U difference then?
1. I have 25 years’ experience in the teaching profession as Teacher, Deputy Head, Headteacher and returning to current classroom teaching experience, as children’s development and education is my true passion.
2. I have been an established and well-regarded private tutor for 8 years, amassing many successful outcomes for primary pupils in SATs and GL/CEM 11+/Selection tests. My knowledge and experience of what works in regard to these assessments can guide you as a parent while nurturing your child’s skills in the strategies and techniques to give of their best in the test.
3. I have an NHS accredited counselling skills qualification and a keen interest in the coaching and motivational approach to learning. I know that any learning challenge is as much about mindset, anxiety management and test technique as it is about ‘ability’. Within my tuition, children are slowly and steadily encouraged to take more control of their own learning and mindset as they are supported to develop the skills to do so. This means that your investment in their learning will support them in the broadest sense by developing their work ethic and ability to drive through challenges throughout their school and working life.
4. I have personal and professional experience in working with children with a range of neurodiversities, including ASD/Autism, ADHD, Anxiety issues and Dyslexia. Although I cannot profess to have a specific qualification in any of these specific areas, my 25 years teaching experience has afforded me plenty of strategies to use to support the different needs of different students.
5. My skills and experience are Top Tutor 4 U’s greatest asset and I know that the development of a trusting, supportive rapport is all important in nurturing a learner’s confidence and willingness to take learning risks and make valuable mistakes. A one-size-fits-all computer programme like some faceless (sometimes not even teaching qualified) franchise owners use in the name of ‘tuition’ can never match the targeted and dynamic professional support I can provide.
Should I choose individual tuition or group tuition for my child?
There are benefits to both types of tuition, so it really depends on your child and how you feel they would work best. Top Tutor 4 U offers both types of tuition, to suit every need and preference.
Small group tuition (3-6 students) offers these benefits:
*A group dynamic means children share knowledge and ideas can learn from others’ mistakes and successes.
*A group approach can increase the confidence of more introverted students while supporting the naturally confident student in their preferred social context.
*Needing to articulate ideas so others can understand supports and consolidates learners’ own understanding over again. We say, “When you explain, you expand your brain!”
*Using a ‘hive mind’ and speaking and listening skills improves creativity when exploring a new challenge. This can feel less pressured than having to find the entire solution individually.
*Having the opportunity to use and develop interpersonal skills to work both independently and within a team is a skill which is highly valued by employers.
*A cost saving when compared to one-to-one individualized tuition.
Individual, one-to-one tuition offers these benefits:
*A personalized and tailored approach meaning learning is adjusted to meet the individual needs of the student
*Completely dedicated time to fill gaps from school that may positively impact immediately back at school or stretch and extend learning to give a child a ‘head start’ and therefore boost their confidence in the subject matter.
*Dedicated time to explore a question/question type in depth with support, before being asked to try independently.
*The rate of new learning is matched to the student’s particular needs, ensuring that they are pushing beyond their comfort zone, yet not into the stress zone.
*Bespoke resources can be used on an individual basis.
