Students would have access to vast resources including a catalogue of at least 200 books full of techniques and past papers to help support and boost their education. Learners are offered a personalised tuition plan catered to their individual needs, goals and learning styles. Firstly, there is a free consultation and a free initial lesson so that you both check whether you like what I can offer. All lessons are prepared in advance to make the best use of tuition time. Curriculum-aligned material is taught, learners’ understanding is checked systematically, misconceptions identified accurately and clear and direct feedback is provided. In doing so, knowledge gaps are identified and content repeated to plug gaps where appropriate and embed learning. Common errors are shared to help student prevent making them in their practice and in their exams. I use a collaborative, interactive, online whiteboard which is free and simple for my students to use: no holding aloft shaky notepads aimed at the webcam. This allows me to watch and check students' understanding in real time. Using the `I Do, You Do, We Do` model, students are told what they need to know and how to do it, then we work on a task together to help student become more confident with new learning and finally student individually uses what they have been shown to demonstrate proficiency using practice questions or repeating back to me what they have learned. I am a 19 year-old student at the University of Birmingham, studying Philosophy, Religion and Ethics. During my A-levels, I worked at a Tuition Centre for ages 4-11+ for a year. I specialise in Maths and English for ages 4-15, 11+ and GCSE and A-level Religious Studies and A-level Psychology.
I enjoy working creatively with children and I am aware of the different mind friendly learning techniques that can be used to facilitate effective learning. I incorporate these techniques into my lessons. I believe that children need a firm foundation in basic literacy and numeracy skills in order to be able to flourish in other areas of the curriculum. I understand that continuity and progression in learning is vital and my planning and teaching reflect this.
Learning isn't prescriptive; no one is stuck with just a 'Maths Brain' or an 'English Brain' - it's the way you learn these subjects that allows you to love them and truly excel. Through my individually tailored, engaging lessons, I've been able to help my students to really thrive, even in subjects they thought weren't 'for them'!
For two and a half years, I worked as a tutor and classroom assistant at my local tuition centre, teaching both English and Maths from children at a wide range of abilities, aged from 4-16. This experience taught me the importance of tailoring learning for each individual student. Large groups can often mean that some students get left behind; everyone learns at a different pace, favouring different methods. I've found that 1-1 tuition is the perfect solution, giving students more time to ask questions and truly understand a concept before moving on to the next.
For the last year, I have been offering online tuition and have taught a range of students from all age groups and ability levels in both English and Maths to great success! I have recently coached several students through their GCSE English exams and they made great improvements during their lessons with me. Additionally, I have great experience in all areas of the 11+ course, including the more unknown Verbal & Non-Verbal Reasoning sections of the exam. I am also currently supporting some younger children in their English, Reading & Writing skills to really boost their confidence and creativity with language. I am a passionate about making learning a fun and engaging process for my students - as one myself not so long ago, I know what methods work and which ones don't! Not every child learns in the same way and I believe that as a tutor it is my duty to tailor lessons to each student's individual learning style. When a student is taught in a style that suits them, the progress really starts to begin! I like to offer very interactive lessons, with heavy focused placed on discussion and developing ideas alongside either planning or writing in real time to really help my students through every aspect of the learning process.
I offer lessons to students of all ages and abilities - from KS1 and KS2 level at primary school, to specific tailoring for 8+ and 11+ entrance exams, to the greater challenges of GCSE and A Levels, all the way to University or Oxbridge Admissions.

I spent 6 years working in all age groups in primary school as well as 5 years working with adults teaching English as a second language. I am an enthusiastic and patient tutor, and have had previous experience tutoring 11+, as well as ancient languages. I have taught 11+ English, Maths, Verbal and Non-verbal reasoning for both the CSSE and CEM exam boards.

I worked as a primary school teacher for 14 years and loved sharing the learning journey with the young people I taught. My approach is often playful – there is so much to be learnt using games and humour – and success relies on building relationships, agreeing goals and together working out how to reach them. Throughout my teaching career to date, I have assumed full responsibility for independent lesson planning, execution and assessment which includes implementation of a wide variety of teaching and learning strategies such as keeping young learners active at all times, adapting materials to suit different learner styles and interests, providing a meaningful and fun learning context, making sure that all activities are achievable yet offer some degree of challenge and implementing varied strategies to support weaker learners. My background:
I have a wealth of teaching and leadership experience gained across both mainstream primary and independent all-through schools. Additionally, I have spent time teaching in Spain in international schools and privately owned English language academies where I worked for several years teaching English and curriculum to children, teenagers and adults. After several years in Spain, I moved back to England to pursue a career in the primary education sector where I have been working on a full-time basis ever since. Many of the vast and varied skills I acquired in a business career previous to teaching have been both relevant and invaluable to aid a successful transition into the profession, both as a class teacher, modern foreign language specialist and private tutor.
My experience:
I have been working as a class teacher in the primary sector in England for over 10 years now. Accountable for the teaching and learning across various primary year groups, I am responsible for individually and collectively planning and assessing all national curriculum subjects in accordance with school policies, with the ultimate aim of ensuring the highest possible standards of pupil achievement, progress, personal development and well-being. In addition to my day to day class teacher duties, I am also Assessment/HPL/Curriculum and MFL (French and Spanish) Coordinator for whole of school, these additional key school-wide responsibilities require that I keep myself abreast and up to date with all relevant requirements and/or changes. Currently, I am working within the state sector as Year 6 Class Teacher. Having previously worked in an all-through school from nursery to sixth form, I also have experience in teaching Spanish and French at KS3/4 level.
Whilst working previously in Spain as an EFL Teacher with a private English Language Academy, I was responsible for teaching various levels of English to adults, teenagers and Young Learners (YL, from 6 years old). The YL syllabus covered grammatical structures, vocabulary and phonology. As part of the YL courses, I also prepared children for the Young Learners Cambridge examinations. I was also responsible for teaching teenagers and adults of varying levels, including Cambridge English examination preparation classes (FCE, CAE and Proficiency).
I am an experienced fully qualified primary and secondary (grammar) school teacher specialising in the eleven plus (GL, CEM, independent schools) as well as the Kent and Medway tests, and science up to KS3. Making learning accessible, engaging and relevant is, in my opinion, fundamental to the success and the development of every child, supporting academic achievement and the nurturing of fully rounded individuals to be all they can be. For this to happen, I believe that our curriculum needs to be a relevant and rewarding experience; adapted to ensure inclusion and providing the opportunity to develop academically and personally while experiencing success and challenge on a day-to-day basis. It allows pupils to develop their confidence, self-esteem, organisation, and determination which they can transfer into other aspects of their lives. It is from this desire to do well and lead healthy lifestyles that further success can follow.
I have always had a passion for PE as a subject with many different aspects and opportunities for the wide range of children in the school to be challenged and to feel success. This has led me to opportunities to work beyond the school, something I think is crucial in order to reflect deeply on all aspects of teaching, learning and school leadership as well as to provide varied experiences for our children.
Throughout my career, I have valued strong pastoral systems in schools; I have experience at guiding pupils through the peaks and troughs that school life can afford. Key to this support is good communication - between school and parents/guardians, between different staff members and, where appropriate, with outside agencies. Ultimately, I want to ensure that every child has a successful educational experience in my class and throughout the school.
With previous experience in tutoring and teaching, each lesson will be different tailored to the needs and focuses of the individual. They will include a range of learning techniques, activities and questions. From personal experience I know no two people learn in the same way therefore I am very adaptable to teaching in several different ways to ensure success for each pupil.
Each lesson can consist of 1 hour or 2 hours. Before each lesson, I will prepare materials based on focuses discussed. During the lesson, we will start with a quiz to obtain the current level of understanding and knowledge, moving onto some teaching of concepts and theory. Then we will focus on some understanding and practice questions. Ending with another quiz and discussions of next lesson's focus as well as feedback to pupil and parents if desired.
I have previously done 11+ tutoring, volunteering to help children's reading skills, babysitting and working in a nursery. All those experiences have helped me obtain some valuable skills of understanding the process of learning and different learning techniques as well as the approach to teaching children. Organisation is also a key skill I have which will definitely be helpful in the role as a tutor. I have a genuine passion for helping children learn and be successful as I personally understand no two children learn the same and there need to be more varied approaches in teaching.
