With undivided attention and carefully designed courses, our students get the help they need to achieve high grades in their GCSE and A-level exams. Either working with small groups or on a one-to-one basis, we provide our students with a unique opportunity to improve their performance in science, technology, engineering and maths subjects.
Founded in December 2013 by Dr Stathis Stefanidis, Phi Tuition is a leading tuition provider specialising in teaching Maths, Science and Computer Science at KS3, GCSE and A-Level.
At Phi, we have only one purpose: to inspire our students to achieve the highest level of academic success.
We work with students, families and schools to improve students’ exam performance in science and mathematics. On average, our students receive a grade two levels higher than they had previously been predicted to achieve. Our process focuses on developing the following key attributes:
our students’ knowledge, so they are able to navigate the subject matter and context, our students’ skills, so they learn how to best approach problems and exam questions, our students’ confidence, so they are able to navigate new challenges with ease.
All of our tutors have superb teaching skills, are passionate about their subjects and are focused on delivering exceptional results for our students and their families.
I have a total of 4 years of tutoring experience, with both tutoring agencies and in private tuition. I have taught GCSE and A level students across a variety of exam boards, namely Edexcel, AQA, OCR and JWEC. My students have gone to excel in their chosen subjects with significantly improved results.
As a tutor I use a webcam via Skype or Zoom to communicate with my students and a virtual whiteboard to write and explain as I go along. As part of my teaching many of my students have given me positive feedback of how homework and lectures aid and reinforce their learning outside tuition classes.
I usually correct the homework and highlight the corrections before starting a new subject material to ensure my students feel confident that they have mastered a topic before moving ahead. I also make PowerPoint lecture slides and handouts for my students which I am always more than happy to email. After covering the syllabus content, I usually leave ample time to discuss past exam paper questions and how to answer them.
The core principle of my lessons is to first and foremost lay a foundation for the subject material for my students and then to build up the complexity. I highly encourage understanding scientific principles rather than rote memorisation to my students.
I believe learning should be tailored to every students’ individual needs and requirements and they should enjoy the learning material.
In Our Centre based Tutoring, we make sure our students and parents feel safe and secure with having a secure centre place. All our staff are DBS checked and we take extra care about each ones safety and individual educational needs.
At the centre, we have no more than 10 students at a time and to give each student personal attention we have three teachers. So at any given time no student is left unattended if they come up with any questions and doubts.

A trusted community of teachers and mentors that inspire kids of all ages to find the wonder in the world's diverse subject areas, working together to enhance learning and development, both in school and beyond classroom doors.
Founded on a unique philosophy towards children's learning and development, we are a community of tutors and mentors who harness the true potential of our students and bring each of our subjects to life.
We believe that building a trusting relationship with the families we work with allows us to foster a genuine passion for the subjects we teach and a love of learning in our students. We have extensive experience teaching in some of the UK’s top schools and offer unparalleled insight into and each and every stage of our students’ development.
We believe that being taken under the wing of a truly inspirational figure can have untold beneficial effects in a young person’s life, both inside and outside of the classroom.
Being guided by someone who has achieved great things in their life provides a goal for children to aspire towards. At a time when they are so impressionable, the motivation, passion and enthusiasm which can be instilled by an inspirational teacher have long-lasting and fundamental benefits.
We work with a community of highly motivated professionals from a large variety of disciplines. The common factor is that they are all highly successful and are passionate about the subjects they teach. Instilling this passion in students is the reason that they got into teaching, and as such we value our tutors hugely. Connecting these tutors with families that will reap the benefits of their expertise and with students that will thrive working with them is our core focus, and is a truly rewarding experience for all of us at Pegasus.

I am a friendly but demanding private tutor with a fund of real-life stories to bring science to life! I start from where the student is and find their learning style. Then we can approach the concepts and vocabulary in a way that is relevant and targeted. I use online and paper-based exercises to reinforce the essential core knowledge. Past paper practice is essential but not sufficient to succeed.
My tutoring is questioning, methodical and supportive so that the student can achieve their true potential. It is based on more than 10 years of classroom practice in both the state and private sectors and eight years of one-to-one science tutoring at GCSE and A-level (all sciences at GCSE and biology at A-level).
I prefer to tutor at students' homes, but can teach at my home in Kingston upon Thames, SW London, by special arrangement. I prefer to travel by public transport up to 30 minutes maximum, but will drive if necessary up to 10 miles.
My message to students is that there will be a learning style that works for you. Let's find it and achieve success together!

Originally from Singapore, I came to the UK, on my own, at 16 to a tutorial college in Croydon to study for my A levels in Biology,Chemistry, Physics and Maths on a 18 month course gaining AABB respectively and winning a place to study Medicine at Imperial College London.
This would have been impossible if I'd stayed home as I was not allowed to take up Biology at O levels in Singapore as I did not do well enough when I was 14 to enter into the set allowed to take 3 sciences and those doing 2 sciences were forced to take Chem/Physics. Today, I know that I wasn't just slow or stupid as my teachers had said. I had dyspraxia.
It is those experiences I had as a teenager that has made me the teacher I am today. That is one that understands that every child has their own way of learning, not being able to do something right now doesn't mean they will never be able to do it and that if you make learning fun, any person will be able to get it eventually. In other words, learning/teaching needs to be tailored to the learner.
In the initial meeting, I'll aim to find out the student's weaknesses, strengths, and general interests. If the aim is exam preparation, I will get the student to complete selected past year paper questions. This helps me find out what areas the student needs support with and also how I could present material in a way that will engage him/her. We will then agree a plan of action together. In on going sessions, I will also try to integrate and model key study skills such as mind mapping, taking concise notes, memory tricks etc. There will be quizzes either oral or written at the end of each lesson or start of the following lesson to check how much learning has been made. The student will then be ask to evaluate their own progress and set targets for themselves.
