I am a well qualified and experienced teacher of Modern Foreign & Classical Languages with over 30 years experience teaching in local State and Independent Schools and in adult and further education colleges. I have taught French, German, Spanish, Italian, Classics and Latin from Key Stage 3 through to A- Level and am a GCSE examiner for the Pearson Edexcel exam board. I am a Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists.
In my lessons, my goal is to teach you, with fun, humour and encouragement, how to use language confidently in listening, speaking, reading and writing and of course backing this up with a very sound knowledge of those building blocks called grammar. In Latin, the grammar based language study is backed up with a fun and detailed look at the historical period and the set texts. We all have differing learning needs and goals which are worked out well in advance of the first lesson so that the approach is tailor made for you so that you ultimately find the learning experience a rewarding and enjoyable one. When teaching , I use my experience of being an examiner to show you what the exam paper is really asking for and how you can ensure you get the marks and ,quite easily, exceed target. Just ask any of my former pupils! I am very friendly, patient and approachable, always encouraging with a strong belief that bit by bit you will succeed in whichever goal you have made for yourself?

I enjoy making lessons creative and with real life contexts so that the children can see the purpose for their learning ready for when they enter the adult world. First of all, I am a passionate tutor d I enjoy passing my knowledge to others. I find it very rewarding when students tell me enthusiastically about their good results at exams.
Secondly, through my long medical studies and via my job as GP, I have become very patient and a good listener. This helps me to adapt to any student`s background.
Thirdly, being the mother of three teenagers has taught me how to deal with the variable commitments at this age.
I believe firmly that tutoring should be tailored to match each student needs.
Moreover, I take into account that tutoring sessions are extra works added to the student’s busy day at school or at the workplace. Consequently, I endeavour to make my lessons diverse and lively, to avoid students being bored or tired and at risk of giving up after the first sessions.
I make the session as interactive as possible to retain the student’s attention. The student reads the lesson and we point out together the main ideas. After that, he /she will write summary notes under my supervision. Then comes some sample exam questions. Finally, I end the session by a quiz about the topic that we have studied previously.However,when the exams are getting closer,we work on past papers .
As the holder of a Baccalaureate in Sciences and a Doctorate in Medicine, I am conversant in maths physics and chemistry up to GCSE / A level. In addition, Biology is amongst the basic topics in medical studies therefore, this subject is one of my strongest areas of expertise.
With regard to French, although I am not a French native, I am a fluent speaker as all my studies have been carried out in French, from primary school through to university. Consequently, I master French at all levels: from casual conversation to academic reports. Additionally, through my French husband and his family, I have acquired a strong familiarity with the French culture, history and customs.
I am conversant with the curriculum, through my involvement with my sons’ studies and previous tutoring. I am familiar with the different exam boards and their distinctions. I regularly check on the Internet for the latest updates on the syllabus according to each board.

Hi, my name is Freya and I am 18 years old. I am currently studying a Bachelor's degree in Marine Biology with Oceanography. I received a Grade 8 in GCSE biology and an A* throughout A-Level biology. I also received a Grade 9 in GCSE mathematics and an A in A-Level maths. I am very confident in these two subjects and would be delighted to welcome any new students. In recent years there has been a huge growth in the number of agencies offering maths tuition at very competitive rates. Many tutors are university students or recent graduates and in need of some extra cash. I am a qualified SENCo with vast experience working in mainstream and independent schools across Hampshire and Portsmouth Local Authorities. I am a qualified Specialist Dyslexia Teacher with a number of qualifications in teaching pupils with dyscalculia and numeracy difficulties. Currently, I am studying for a Level 7 qualification in Dyscalculia assessing and teaching, this will consolidate the years of teaching pupils with dyscalculia and dyslexia in a specialist department. My special needs experience extends to the opening of an Autism and Mental Health provision alongside the managing of a dyslexia and dyscalculia provision. I have worked closely with the Local Authorities to support families through the Education Health and Care Plan application process with much success.
Originally, I started out as a music teacher within primary settings until my passion for supporting pupils with additional needs rose up and inspired me to take my initial SEN qualification through training in recognising and teaching Dyslexia and literacy difficulties. From this there was no looking back! I went on to work as a Special Needs Coordinator in three schools across Hampshire and Portsmouth supporting all age groups from 2-16 achieving the National SENCo qualification; later working on my passion for the lesser known Specific Learning Difficulties of Dyscalculia.
My greatest joy and education has come from the adoption of my three children where I have taken extensive training in attachment and trauma informed practice, NVR, therapeutic parenting and the use of PACE. I have first hand knowledge and experience of living and working with autistic individuals and celebrating Neurodiversity in her family life. Anne knows first hand the difficulties of navigating the school SEN systems as a parent and this experience can never be measured but leads to a greater understanding and providing advocacy for parents and pupils alike.
