I have been working in schools since 2004, initially as a Teaching Assistant and then wanting to become a teacher, which I achieved in 2014. I am very passionate about working with parents, children and other adults that help move children forward, through developing their confidence to achieve this.
I believe that my skills and guidance, I can help children to reach their potential. I have worked with various children with different needs. I can help children to succeed and enjoy their learning and making it fun, but effective and tailored to their individual needs.
I am available to help with all primary subjects. I am experienced in Read Write Inc, Jolly Phonics and Letters and Sounds Phonic schemes.
I can tailor a individual education plan to your child's needs and abilities.
Hello, my name is Sarah. I am currently Head of Geography at an outstanding school and have over 10 years experience of teaching geography at secondary school level. I currently teach AQA Geography at GCSE level and Edexcel A-Level but have experience of teaching a variety of exam board specifications as well as having been an AQA examiner (KS4).
I am now in th 7th year of teaching and third as Director of Learning, Geography. I have 5 years teaching experience in the new Edexcel A GCSE Geography course, but am also able to tutor for other exam boards.
Current Head of Geography, teaching from KS3 - KS5. Specialise in AQA specification, but also have experience with Ed-Excel.
Calm and patient and enjoy working with individuals keen to improve, with some motivation to suceed. I like to focus especially on looking at exam technique and work with students to develop and model good practice and deepen subject knoweledge.
A - level is much current specialism and teach across both the human and phyiscal sides of the course and as a result I can help them think 'synoptically' in their responses.
From Australia originally, I haved lived permanently in the UK since 1989.
I taught at Wellington College, Berks in 1984 and Merchiston Castle School, Edinburgh 1985-87. 1988-89 I taught at SCEGS (Shore School) in Sydney, Australia.
I have taught KS3-KS5 (12-18) throughout my career, with a speciality in Physical Geography at A-Level. I also taught History early in my career.
I have organised many field trips, to Iceland (for 20 years), Norway, Morocco and the Azores.
The last 30 years of my career have been at Berkhamsted School in Hertfordshire, where I have also been a Housemaster, tutor, MIC Cricket, rugby coach and referee.
I am currently on a 1 year part-time contract, as I retired from full-time teaching in July 2020.
Hello - Geography is my passion and I have been on a mission throughout my career to instill that passion and enthusiasm with the students I have taught.
I have a wide and deep experience of teaching secondary Geography and am vastly experienced in consultancy and advisory work on teaching and learning generally. An Oxford graduate in Geography and former Head of Department and school leader, I have also developed expertise in online tutoring over these recent unprecedented times. The results I have achieved with students and the impact made on their learning have been outstanding and many of my former students have gone onto read Geography at university and many have also become teachers themselves. I currently still teach and combine this with my indepedent advisory and consultancy work. Fieldwork has been a particualr enthusiasm of mine and I have taken students to destinations all over the UK, Europe, China and Kenya.
I am also skilled in online coaching that can boost the self-confidence of students and am a registered Philosophy for Children (P4C) trainer, with expertise in developing student independent learning, thinking skills and metacognition.
I am a Founding Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching.
Please contact me to arrange online tutoring - I have the flexibility to accommodate different times and days to fit in with your needs, beyond the schdeule shown and propose to work over the summer holiday to help get students ready for the new academic year.
I can promise those who I tutor that they will both enjoy how I teach and help them and discover a love of Geography that they may not even know they have!
My name is Amy O'Sullivan and I am secondary school geography teacher in London. I have 4 years of teaching experience up to KS5. I have good understanding of the demands of the GCSE and A level specification and am also able to assist in the preparation of the non examined assessment (within the exam board regulations).
We guarantee small classes – no bigger than 16 children in the main school and nine per class in Reception. We believe that this is integral to children establishing strong relationships with their teacher, getting the support they need, developing a strong work ethic and both maximising and achieving their potential.
Classes are made up of children from a wide range of backgrounds and abilities, but the one thing they have in common is motivation. We do not compare children with one another; we challenge them against their own goals and next steps. This allows children to feel safe, be creative and be curious instead of managing anxiety about ‘not keeping up’. Happy, confident students are available to learn – they develop a rich and positive sense of who they are and can be.
Each class has a name:
Sprites (Reception) Pegasus (Year 1) Dragons (Year 2) Unicorns (Year 3) Griffins (Year 4) Minotaurs (Year 5) Centaurs (Year 6) Chalkers (Years 7-9)
