Science Clinic Private Tutors was founded in 2010. Our vision was to help struggling children understand the concepts of the major subjects which are sought after by many colleges & universities. Our tutoring was mainly in the main subjects (Maths, all 3 Sciences & English Language) to exam students only. Because of the huge demand of tutoring in all year groups, we now teach students across the board from Primary (KS1 & KS2) through to GCSE, A-level and University. We were luck to have had colleagues we share the same vision with join us. Now we can teach all subjects from Primary through to GCSE, College /A-levels and Science & Maths at University level. Within the team, we have professionals with very high qualifications ie Masters Degrees (MSc / MA) and PhDs in various subjects. We can, therefore, be confident to say we are professionals who are dedicated to what we do with proven records in the UK’s most entrance and national exams. We are a tutoring organisation that is defined by its professionalism. Our aim is to provide a personal service. This makes us very different from most tutoring companies that just offer a platform for tutors and students to meet. We speak to clients so that we can match them with the most appropriate tutor for their needs. When this happens, the results can be remarkable & confidence grows. I'm fluent in Spanish, ( my native language) French, and English and have spent many years teaching and studying languages. I am a professional violinist, violist and conductor, studying for a PhD in Music at the University of Cambridge. As a Supervisor in the Faculty of Music, I teach undergraduate music students at Cambridge. I also teach conducting, violin, viola, and chamber music at the Saffron Walden Centre for Young Musicians in Essex. – I favour a structured approach to teaching. I devise lesson plans in advance of every lesson, catered to the student's specific needs. I also inform the design of my classes through a constructive dialogue with my students. This enables me to structure my lessons within a curriculum that meets my students' specific educational needs, and serves to enable my students to achieve tangible improvements in their academic performance and musical ability.
Academic Tuition
– My academic lessons tend to be structured around specific sections of the syllabus, or particular topics that students require help with.
– I employ a seminar style format, in which I flesh out ideas with the aid of quotations, other audio-visual resources, and analytical commentary which my students can use to develop essays, essay plans, revision tools, and exam revision packs.

Every student/learner is different; every backstory is unique. Many students have barriers; sometimes reassurance and pointing in the right direction will suffice.
Some years ago, I tutored a student on a Saturday morning. He was a bright and a very able science/maths learner (straight As at GCSE) yet could not handle English or Literature and this was clearly holding him back (both his own self-esteem and his grades). It took a few weeks to instill a new way of apporaching the texts/writing, but once we applied a 'scientific approach' to analysis, it completely revolutinised his way of working. (He moved from a D to an A in four months of being with me, by the way!)
That was not a one-off. My recent tutoring has enabled me to accelerate learners way beyond what they thought they were capable of. Tutees are at the centre of the experince and it is all focused on them. I have an excellent interpersonal style, which is firm and fair, with a strong sense of agenda and coverage. We will go over things, revisiting to reinforce previous learning and to create the space where the tutee feels more independent and able to move forward without support. When a tutee says "I think I'm good from here!" I take that as a moment of great success!
