I have been teaching since 2006 across Yorkshire and Staffordshire, to a variety of age groups and abilities and in a variety of settings; from community groups to sixth-form colleges. Now I have returned to my roots in Doncaster, where I began performing at the age of 7 years and founded DN4 Dance & Theatre in 2019. In addition to a BA Hons in Dance and PGCE (PCET), I have a background in Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Musical Theatre and is a registered teacher with BBOdance (British Ballet Organisation). When I'm not teaching, I work closely with local Theatre groups and on a professional basis, acting, singing and providing choreography for events/productions. Over my experience in working in FE, I have successfully supported many of my students in their application process to Higher Education and Drama school; selecting and rehearsing monologues for audition and preparing UCAS application. Some of my former students are currently studying at ALRA and UCLAN and I have also successfully helped students gain entry to Anglia Ruskin in Cambridge.
While my recent formal experience has been with FE students and above, I have taught students from the age of 5 through to university level on a wide range of topics. Areas of study include; Physical Theatre (from Dance-based to Commedia dell'Arte), Shakespeare, Contemporary Theatre, Prose.
A general lesson will include a short warm-up (either skills or focus based) prior to the main content; breaking down a script/choreography, rehearsal, feedback and discussion based on learning taken place and next steps. I try to make lessons as practical as I can, dependent on the material that we are working with and the end result required.

My teaching career began over two decades ago. I spent six happy years at the ArtsEd Drama School in Chiswick, where, rather serendipitously, I assumed the reins of responsibility from MY drama teacher! I worked for a further 15 years at a highly ambitious and educationally driven institution, Ibstock Place School in Roehampton. I still teach part-time at Ewell Castle School, near Epsom. I am a highly experienced practitioner of Drama. I have directed countless productions, small and large scale. I have Production Managed almost every single one, so good organisation and the requirement to be 'people-friendly' and an effective communicator, are skills I acquired quickly and retain today. Most of all, I am proud to say that former pupils have gone on to study at a host of vocational training institutions: RADA, Guildhall, Brit, London Contemporary and Laines, and are themselves now successfully working professionally as actors, singer, dancers and stage managers. Some have even gone on to play leading roles on Broadway, the West-End, the RSC, Regent's Park and film and TV. I have taught both GCSE and A-Level Drama with a proven track record of outstanding results, year on year. I know what exam boards require and what pitfalls to avoid. I understand different learning styles and appreciate that young people do not necessarily fall into the same learning mould. I am happy to accommodate everyone. I have examined Drama GCSE and Expressive Arts GCSE for AQA. In pastoral roles, as a former Head of Year 11 and Sixth Form Tutor, I am acutely aware of the physical and mental pressures our teenagers can experience as they try to navigate the choppy waters around public examinations season. You will find me empathic, patient and interested in helping learners challenge their perceptions of learning, helping them shift from a 'fixed' mindset to a 'growth' mindset, thus repairing a bruised self-confidence in the process. I have taught LAMDA Examinations in Acting and ESB (English Speaking Board) Public Speaking Examinations, each to Grade 8, Gold Medal Level, once again, with a proven track record of success. Throughout my career, I have always held a managerial role. I have been Subject Leader for Drama, Head of a large Creative Arts Faculty and also on the Senior Leadership team at ArtEd. Latterly at IPS, I was on the Building Committee, advising on constructing a state-of-the-art Performing Arts Complex which included a Proscenium Arch Theatre and fully equipped Studio Theatre. Crucially, my teaching work has been underpinned and informed by my early career working as a professional actor and Stage Manager. I studied a Performing Arts degree at Middlesex University, after which, I spent a decade performing in the West-End and National Touring large-scale musicals. I have worked extensively in the recording studio and on the radio. Until Covid hit last year, I was the Stage Door Keeper of the Noel Coward Theatre, working for Sir Cameron Mackintosh.

Whether you are starting out or are experienced and need help with your acting I will draw on Meisner and Stanislavski methos techniques to help you acheive your goals with your performance. I cover ALL aspects of working towards a career in Acting including: * Researching and preparing for drama shool auditions * Directing monologues * Researching and applying for an agent * Directing auditions * Preparing for a role / Interpreting text * Approaching Casting Directors * Self-tape training (most castings are initially done by this) * What to expect from the industry * Acting for stage * Acting for film (essential and very different from stage acting) * Understanding IMDB/Spotlight/Equity/Mandy etc I work with any ages/abilities. These lessons also have an option of working towards shooting a showreel scene if requested (£negotiable). Showreels are essential in progressing in the industry. You can see mine for an example on my Spotlight page. I am a full Equity member.
Graduate of the infamous "The Poor School" in London and attained a BA(Hons) in Filmmaking at Screen & Film School, Brighton, Specialising in Directing. Currently represented by Longrun Artistes ( www.*** ). Professional actor in Film ("Death Of Stalin"), TV ("The Pentaverate"), Commercials ("Pepsi Max"), Theatre ("A Midsummer Night's Dream") & Musicals ("Floyd Collins") with over 20 years experience. These credits include: Netflix, Amazon, BBC, Working Title, Gaumont, NST Theatres & Wilton's Music Hall. All professional work can be found here: www.*** www.*** www.*** www.*** My first film was nominated for the Brighton Rocks Film Festival and my latest film is currently on the festival circuit. TESTIMONIALS: "As a DoP on the project I witnessed a professional attitude at all times with a deep respect towards his team and a clarity of style purpose and collaboration with my skills. He is very creative and displays a caring talent towards story telling. In my judgement of 40 years experience in the film biz Daniel is and will make a great writer director." - Ben Cole, DP ("Made In Dagenham") "Daniel and I were fortunate to know each other previously, having worked together on a full feature left-field European film (Alice Through the Looking). Coming together on Gandad there was, therefore, a mutual understanding of style and artistic integrity. Significant discussions and pre-production work also ensured clarity for me, as Gandad, what key objectives were. Daniel’s excellent and clear scripting ensured further clarity. This combination of pre-production skills was therefore instrumental on-set in determining accurate and timely scheduling. Further clarity with DOP added to a smooth and entirely professional approach to achieving timely objectives." - John Locke, Actor (The Darkest Hour).

I am a professional freelancer with a Masters degree in Classical Music and Performance and I am actively seeking a new challenge.
I am a Master's graduate and classically trained singer who is an experienced performer within theatre and classical music. I currently work as a freelance educator with a rounded expertise in many areas of employment, predominantly as a teacher of the Performing Arts. I have worked as a teacher of Drama, Voice and Communications at a well known private school and as a private Performing Arts coach for multiple schools and companies. I operate predominantly as a self-employed person within businesses and schools and I am therefore responsible for all of my own administration and organisation as well as liaising with these various institutions.
I also hold Alevels in both French and German and speak both of these languages to a fairly advanced level.
One of my most rewarding roles was working with NCS with The Challenge as both a Performing Arts Tutor and Public Speaking Coach. In the first role, I was able to teach performing arts and devising work to GCSE leavers in areas of London, and I enabled them to use their newfound skills to liaise and work with local charities creating new devised performances every week, which would then lead to a collaborative project to enable them to give back to their local community.

I am familiar with Drama GCSE AQA and Edexcel syllabus and can help with the written exam, set texts, how to write like a performer, designer, director and theatre critic as well as how to write a top band devising portfolio. I can help with practical work especially monologues and how to deliver a top band one using script analysis and breaking down the content and delivery. I can help you with any set text, just let me know what play you are studying.
I am familiar with A Level Theatre Studies and Drama Edexcel syllabus as well and can help with all components including Section A-C of the written exam - again, just tell me what set text you are studying and I can help. I am familiar with the practitioners, Stanislavsky, Brecht and Artaud and can link them to any set text for the director question or help with understanding them at a deeper level for devised group work. I have given 1:1 Brecht online classes to degree students who gained 1st in their Brecht presentations thanks to my teaching and support.
I am very happy to help with auditions and UCAS personal statements and application process to Drama degrees or Drama schools and currently support a fostered student with the SpringForward UCAS programme. They have appreciated my guidance and I would be happy to help with this as well.
I taught the Performing Arts BTEC and many of my students have gone on to work within the industry. I have directed many scripted and devised shows and would be happy to help directing groups nearby.
My students enjoy my teaching style and I try and make my classes fun both in person and online. I use warm ups focussing on the physical and vocal techniques. I love to see my students develop their performance skills and grow in confidence through Drama.
I can tutor English as well and taught it to GCSE for four years and KS3 for 20 years.
