I use a variety of teaching and learning methods to make students more confident in their subject knowledge, written responses and understanding of the ways in which their work is assessed. I consider myself to be very approachable, and as well as making lessons challenging I also aim to make the sessions enjoyable as that is when we learn best. I also value feedback from students on the activities they find the most beneficial to make the learning as effective as possible.
I am Head of a succesful History department in Bath. I teach History (KS3, GCSE, A-Level), Politics (A-Level) and Sociology (A-Level). My most recent A-Level Politics group achieved 100% A*-C, and within my GCSE History group over 60% achieved above their predicted grade.
I am able to provide full lessons, revision sessions, lesson catch up, homework help, exam skills sessions etc. I will tailor these to your needs, and work with you to help make progress. These sessions can be virtual or socially distanced in person in an outdoor area.

In the summer of 2018 I received a Master’s degree in Taiwan and Asia Pacific Studies from Tamkang University, and successfully undertook a CELTA course soon afterwards. I completed a 120 hour TEFL course in 2012, and graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor’s degree in History.
Between February and December 2020 I worked as a Learning Support Assistant at the London Nautical School. I assisted teachers with students who were in a number of different academic years, in a range of subjects. Students at this school came from a range of social and cultural backgrounds. I was responsible for helping students with learning difficulties, and those whose first language wasn’t English. I taught them reading, conversation and grammar skills. I also assisted teachers in managing and teaching entire classes of www.*** ;
Before this I was a History teacher for a number of Year 7, 8, 9, and 10 classes at St Albans Girls' School. Students at this school come from a range of social and cultural backgrounds. The school works hard to improve attainment in numeracy and literacy and has clear teaching methods in place to achieve this. The head of department produced lesson plans which all other teachers could use, but from the beginning I made changes to these, and added my own material, in order to adapt them to my own style of www.*** ;
I have extensive experience in teaching English, as a result of being employed as an English Editor at Kasetsart University in Bangkok, Thailand, between 2012 and 2015. My job at this organisation required me to conduct instruction in a wide range of different courses, and to interact with diverse groups of students. I am confident that I can apply the experience I have gained to any given classroom environment.
I have also worked at the Imperial War Museum in London in a voluntary capacity at weekends. This involved helping to make the exhibits easy to appreciate and use for visitors of all nationalities and sharing the expertise that I have built up regarding this period of history. This allowed me to share my passion for history with www.*** ;
- We match tutors with students based on location, subject and personality.
- In order to do so, we will find out as much information about the student as possible and consequently brief the selected tutor beforehand.
- Once the most suitable tutor has been selected, they will be given the student’s contact details to arrange the first class.
- The student (or student’s parent) will then be asked to sign a contract, outlining the terms and conditions.

Students are individuals with nuanced and complex educational needs. However, in some cases, even the best schools and universities can fail to maximise young people’s potential and prevent them from flourishing as they should. My approach as a tutor is to adapt to the needs of each student and to encourage personal growth, build self-belief and instil a long-lasting ability to learn independently.
I have lectured at Ruskin College Oxford in the social sciences for over 8 years, at the same time, I have tutored pupils from many of the best schools in the country, including Cheltenham College and Harrow. As well as this I have tutored gifted students from state schools and have been instrumental in gaining them Oxbridge places, as well as other leading UK’s institutions. As well one-to-one lessons, I have worked, over many years with my students to present their best possible selves in personal statements for university applications.
Teaching and learning is my life and when I take on a student I feel a deep responsibility toward them. I feel this is the key to the successes I have had.
We have a wealth of experience in teaching and guiding children through their academic years and are pleased to be able to say that the majority of our students come to us through recommendation. We are also delighted to be able to say that a number of our former students have chosen to send their own children to us for tutoring.
At SBK tuition, we feel it is important to do everything we can to keep your child safe so all of our tutors have an enhanced DBS and our classrooms are covered by CCTV.

My work as a GCSE and A Level examiner gives me a valuable insight into what it is that examiners are looking for and I will use this to bring out the best in my students but at the same time help them be as prepared as they can be for public examinations. I am patient and enthusiastic - I love my subjects - and I aim to instil this enthusiasm in my students.
