BIO With a passion for hard-hitting beats and a career spanning almost two decades, I'm Jamie, a professional drummer based in Kent with my own studio. While my speciality lies in rock and metal music, I have expanded my repertoire over the course of my career to include a diverse range of genres such as jazz, funk, hip-hop and pop. Alongside my freelance work as a musician, I’ve been teaching drumming for over five years, both privately and at music schools.
I genuinely love teaching and thoroughly enjoy working with students across various genres and styles. My approach is always student-centered, prioritising their interests and goals. Whether it's mastering a specific song, honing timing and hand technique, improving footwork, or developing overall musicality, I tailor my lessons to meet individual needs. I am committed to continuous learning and growth, and have had the privilege of studying under esteemed drummer Dave Elitch.
I have a range of experience working in professional studios with various bands:
My first ever professional release was with heavy metal band Novacaine Nothing (Noughts & Crosses, 2015) recorded at FloodGate Audio; followed by a single with technical-metal band proxxy (Pathological Pursuits, 2018). In 2020 I recorded drums for rock band Night Thieves’ debut EP (Battle Cry, 2020) at Stakeout Studios. In the same year, I recorded drums for the talented duo Immortal Machinery at my own studio for their album Songs Without Words. Additionally, in 2023, I had the pleasure of recording drums for their latest album Kuzushi. I’ve had some incredible experiences touring extensively with this band across Europe. Recently, I’ve written and tracked drums for the American musician Brianne Bogle as well as English singer/songwriter Guy Prall. I’ve also played live for various hip-hop artists including Antlive, Ras Kass, and John Jigg$.
You can find plenty of my work on YouTube (my handle is JamieDrumz), Spotify, iTunes, Bandcamp – all the usual places. Alongside my freelance work, I'm currently the house drummer for the popular monthly jazz and funk jam night in High Wycombe known as Catch22 Jams, run by the MLN Ensemble, who also hire me to play at the annual Wycombe Jazz Festival as well as High Wycombe’s annual FrogFEST.

EXPERIENCE I have been teaching drums privately since 2018, catering to a diverse range of students aged 6 to 70. As an Enhanced DBS Verified instructor, I prioritise the safety and well-being of my students, and I’m happy to provide references upon request. Additionally, since 2023, I have had the privilege of teaching at two respected institutions: the prestigious YMS in Canterbury and Drumwise in Maidstone.
Throughout my teaching career, I have witnessed my students achieve remarkable success in various areas. Some have excelled in graded exams, while others have pursued further education in music schools. Many students have joined bands or embarked on solo projects purely for the joy of playing music. As part of my comprehensive approach, I ensure that all beginner students develop strong foundational skills in reading music effectively.
Drawing upon my extensive experience as a professional musician, my lessons extend beyond drumming: I provide valuable insights into essential topics such as tuning, recording techniques, rehearsal strategies, and song-writing. By incorporating these aspects into my teaching, I equip my students with a well-rounded skill set that extends beyond just drumming proficiency.
My approach is practical and personalised, centred around your goals and aspirations. What do you want to learn? What are you trying to achieve? I prioritise hands-on drumming experience from the start. While theory is important, my immediate focus is on getting you playing the kit. After all, that's why you're here!
