Sharing my knowledge and skills with people is a really important part of my journey. I love to see eyes light up when a student has achieved something that I have supported them with. Music is a universal language and gift that we can all access and enjoy because of the versatile, energetic and emotive paradigms that it allows us to create.

I've taught flute as a peripatetic teacher since the age of 17 and trained as a secondary music teacher in my home town of Sydney, Australia. I have since worked in secondary schools and more recently as Director of Music in several schools in the UK and abroad. I am currently Director of Music at a London Preparatory School. I believe studying music should be primarily about enriching one's life, and aim to make learning about theory and composition as practical and fun as possible. Music requires precision and exacting skill but I believe it is possible for everyone to improve their appreciation and understanding of music. Music is an incredible means of self expression and helping students understand more than just the technical elements is very important to me.
I have worked with a wide age range of students, from pre-schoolers to adults. Every person is an individual and I will tailor our lessons to your needs and aims. As a parent to a child with ASD and Irlen syndrome, I am able to apply strategies to assist other pupils with similar needs and have an appreciation of particular challenges which can arise from these.

We guarantee small classes – no bigger than 16 children in the main school and nine per class in Reception. We believe that this is integral to children establishing strong relationships with their teacher, getting the support they need, developing a strong work ethic and both maximising and achieving their potential.
Classes are made up of children from a wide range of backgrounds and abilities, but the one thing they have in common is motivation. We do not compare children with one another; we challenge them against their own goals and next steps. This allows children to feel safe, be creative and be curious instead of managing anxiety about ‘not keeping up’. Happy, confident students are available to learn – they develop a rich and positive sense of who they are and can be.
Each class has a name:
Sprites (Reception) Pegasus (Year 1) Dragons (Year 2) Unicorns (Year 3) Griffins (Year 4) Minotaurs (Year 5) Centaurs (Year 6) Chalkers (Years 7-9)

Hi. My name is Tarquin www.*** I teach an assortment of musical threads, mainly piano and theory, and also in composition, be it songwriting or film soundtracks. I am a flexible teacher, in that I try to meet the learner wherever they are at, and seek to teach them in a way that suits their learning style. My background is both classroom teaching and ono-to-one peripatetic and I have taught throughout all Key Stages and all abilities. I am also well versed in Music Technology (and have taught it) which I use to create soundtracks, and ambient pieces.
I am a believer in rewarding effort and thus discipline is a firm asset in my students. I am both congenial and engaging as a tutor. My sense of humour is unique and perhaps it is why I love Music full stop!

Hi there,
Name's Jordan. I'm a university student with a passion for english and music, particularly the guitar, bass and drums. While I don't yet hold a degree, I've obtained distinctions in all of my music courses for A-level without fail, if it's passion and drive you want then I'm your www.*** ;
On the English side, as long as I know what's being taught I can teach it in an engaging way that'll hopefully make English less of a drag than many seem to think it is!
As for my teaching style, I'm 19 and therefore don't hold any sort of strict teaching guidelines within me, expect me to be pretty laid back and friendly during sessions. After all, I don't believe that any sort of passion for a subject can arise from being taught in a strict and rigid way. As it so happens I'm not really a traditionalist, so if it's guitar you're here for then expect a very "hands-on approach" to get you playing as fast as possible.
Oh, and my first sessions are free!
I'll probably use this to get an idea of the subjects i'm working with and add them to a list to make sure I'm confident on all of the material going forward. If you decide that you like my general mannerisms and character for some reason, then you can be rest assured that i'll have all the answers when it comes to the learning process!
One final thing; I welcome learners of any kind, any background and any skill level. If you want to just sit and chill out while we talk about the subject matter, then we can do that. If you want to do a Grade for your instrument, give me a second to find the piece you're learning and I'll help you learn, no matter what piece it www.*** ;
Alright, that's all from me. If you like the cut of my jib, then shoot me a message or something, i'll reply pretty quickly, usually no more than a few hours, provided I have the slot www.*** ;
Okay, hope to speak to "you" soon!

Personal Description:
I'm a trainee Music Therapist studying at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, enrolled as a jazz pianist. Piano has always been my passion, achieving Grade 8 when I was only 11. Since then I have studied at Newcastle University achieving a First Degree in BA (Hons) Music before working at Oakham School as their Graduate Musician. I'm an award winning composer (NMSW Young Composer Award 2015) and an award winning performer (STAGE Edinburgh Award 2018: Timpson: The Musical) who also works extensively as an audio engineer and podcast producer. At 23 I'm a young, enthusiastic face who can offer in-face and online teaching.
Tutoring Experience:
I worked as a jazz piano tutor at Oakham School but also for early lessons in classical. Asides from this I tutored KS3 music and music theory classes up to Grade 8 ABRSM.
Tutoring Approach:
As a music therapist I have to work to try and compliment everybody's innate musicality. Because of this I can easily adapt teaching to fit the needs of the student. I am a great believer in off-the-book learning and have seen myself the benefit of taking classical skills (scales, harmony, technique) and applying them to aural learning and improvisation. I think that the piano is something that anybody can love if they have the right person to teach them that.

I’m London based but travel to most area’s and teach guitar, piano, drums and singing. I teach kids & adults, beginners through to advanced levels. I’m DBS certified and I’m an accredited tutor with ‘***** *****’. If close to my home I often offer the first lesson for FREE!
I began teaching in 1979 (aged 19) and will teach at all levels. While theory and technical exercises are necessary, these will be kept to a minimum with the focus on playing the instrument . My lessons are relaxed and fun.
Feel free to get in touch to ask more check me out on '***** *****'.
