I am a private Maths tutor, offering on-line tuition. I was a Secondary maths teacher for nearly 23 years, and have been private tutoring since 1990. In the past 8 years, since I last taught in a Secondary school, I have been doing more tuition with the odd bit of supply work. I have been an exam marker for a number of years - I used to mark Key Stage 3 SATS papers and I have been working most years for Pearson marking Edexcel GCSE Maths papers since 2012.
At present - October 2021 - I am working for two organisations within the National Tutoring Programme offering Maths tuition to small groups of students.
I really enjoy one-to-one tutoring! It feels great to be able to help a student gain more belief in their own mathematical ability, so that they can tackle exam papers with more confidence, and feel that they can relate better to the Maths skills they need for everyday life.

I tutor a lot online mostly using Facetime although I also use Skype and www.*** ; I a BSC HONS 2:1 IN Economics from 1983 and a PGCE in Economics and Maths from Warwick University in 1987.

After graduating from Hatfield Polytechnic in 1987, I spent many years in industry, working in the UK and overseas. I worked in various roles including project management and other senior management positions.
My two children were born in 2002 and 2004, and at that time I decided to change my career and applied to Southampton University in September 2005 to take Postgraduate Certificate in Education leading to Qualified Teacher Status, as I had always had a passion for education and thought now is the time for a change.
In 2007, I completed my induction as a teacher and promptly moved to a new school as a Second in Department in Mathematics. I have stayed at that school ever since, but my position has changed to where my role is now a combination of teaching and data management for the whole school. In this position, I have a clear picture of not only the mathematics that needs to be taught but how important that is to the future prospects of the students.
As I approach retirement, I am looking to continue teaching but in a tutoring capacity, as I really enjoy the feeling when a student understands a concept for the first time and looks forward to learning more.
I teach students upto and including GCSE level both at foundation and higher level. I also taught students with SEN including ASD,ADHD and Dyscalculia.

Currently working as a teacher of science in a renowned secondary school located in Hampshire, I am an advocate of active learning. Equipped with 3 years of teaching experience in the United Kingdom, I specialise in nurturing examination techniques. I do have in-depth knowledge of examination specifications and strive to teach the students to master the techniques needed to answer the examination questions.
I tutor chemistry and physics to Key Stage 3 and 4 students in Southampton, UK. For Key Stage 3 students, I find it important to make the lessons as enjoyable as possible. This is to cultivate the students' enthusiasm for science as a whole. GCSE science students do have trouble answering the questions in the examinations - the key words, the question words and the information needed to get the full marks in each questions have to be taught and practised.
Hi, I'm Heather! I graduated High School last year with A*, A*, A* so I have recent and thorough knowledge of the curriculum. Due to my current degree, I continue to use these subjects and I remember all the tips and tricks I used to get these grades. You can count on me to be enthusiastic to find alternative methods to answering a problem or understanding a topic if one doesn't work.
I also teach Piano up to grade 6. I passed my grade 8 a few years ago and I am now working towards a diploma. From teaching other students, I have learned how to balance fun with progress.
