Currently working as a teacher of science in a renowned secondary school located in Hampshire, I am an advocate of active learning. Equipped with 3 years of teaching experience in the United Kingdom, I specialise in nurturing examination techniques. I do have in-depth knowledge of examination specifications and strive to teach the students to master the techniques needed to answer the examination questions.
I tutor chemistry and physics to Key Stage 3 and 4 students in Southampton, UK. For Key Stage 3 students, I find it important to make the lessons as enjoyable as possible. This is to cultivate the students' enthusiasm for science as a whole. GCSE science students do have trouble answering the questions in the examinations - the key words, the question words and the information needed to get the full marks in each questions have to be taught and practised.
Hi, I'm Heather! I graduated High School last year with A*, A*, A* so I have recent and thorough knowledge of the curriculum. Due to my current degree, I continue to use these subjects and I remember all the tips and tricks I used to get these grades. You can count on me to be enthusiastic to find alternative methods to answering a problem or understanding a topic if one doesn't work.
I also teach Piano up to grade 6. I passed my grade 8 a few years ago and I am now working towards a diploma. From teaching other students, I have learned how to balance fun with progress.
I hold a bachelor (first class honours) and master of science degrees in biochemistry. I can equally teach biology, chemistry and biochemistry with dexterity. I am passionate about teaching and research. I have requisite experience spanning about 10 years.
Hello my name is Annabel and I’m a second year Dentistry student and I have 3 years of formal tutoring experience an excess of 500 hours both online and in person, I work with students of all levels and most exam boards from Primary all the way up to A-Levels. I hope to share my extensive knowledge of the specifications and my experience from working with numerous examiners of all levels. After leaving education I have not stopped tutoring which a lot of my students find incredibly helpful as I can help teach from a students perspective as I have both experience first hand of the courses (including the new specification GCSEs) but also a lot of experience as a tutor.
I try to add humour, acronyms and real life examples to my lessons to really interact with my students and help cement the concepts that I am teaching, as no one is going to remember boring textbook facts! I have spent a lot of my spare time researching memory and the best ways to teach and revise after seeing myself, colleagues and current students not maximising their potential through revision and understanding. I use spaced repetition incorporating ideas I have previously taught into new lessons through mini quizzes, linking similar concepts together and allowing the student to do this themselves via prompts. Alongside this due to my knowledge of exam boards, I can spot common questions and help students to use the question to form their answer if something like a formula was forgotten. Which based on purely the exam technique tips I can provide, students have even gone up 1 level just based on www.*** ;
I hand tailor all of my lessons to the individual pupil and really listen and attempt to understand their learning style incorporating this and their own ideas into my lessons in order to make it the more effective for time and enjoyable and engaging for that student.
I look forward to hearing from you :)
I qualified to teach mathematics and physics in Sheffield then taught in the schools in Sheffield, Bournemouth, London and Hong Kong. In Hong Kong I also tutored maths physics chemistry biology and science.
