I have been tutoring English to British and Foreign students for over 8 years, working with all age ranges in ESL, exam preparation for 11+, 8+ and in depth text analysis. I have been producing & directing documentaries for national and international broadcasting. My first documentary – CHOR-POLICE – had several international partners like NHK (Japan), YLE(Finland), PBS(USA), RTSI(Switzerland) and premiered at IDFA(2008). I founded my production company – SÉANCE ENTERTAINMENT – in 2007, with a partner from my film institute. We have been striving to reach the world of films with a touch of our own, aiming for a synergy of passion, dedication and creative application. One of our first projects – FAIRYTALE DREAMS – was broadcast by NHK(Japan).
Recently, SÉANCE pioneered 8K documentary in India, in collaboration with NHK (Japan). We produced a series of 3 films (2019-2022) exploring the visual spectacles of different regions of India – Thar Desert of Rajasthan, Golden Fort of Jaisalmer and lush backwaters of Kerela. And another 3 film series on the cuisine of India (2022-23) – in Lucknow, Kashmir and Bengal.
I was a key member of the Documentary Resource Initiative – a not-for-profit organization promoting creative experimental independent actuality storytelling in India. DRI hosts an internationally acclaimed forum – DocedgeKolkata, Asian Forum for Documentary – where I worked as Head of Incubation & Training nurturing documentary projects through mentoring by international professionals. I was also Director of DRI’s travelling documentary workshop – Documentor, and mentored in the Let’sdoc Fellowship Programme for early-career filmmakers. Another major involvement was in initiating and organising the Dhaka DocLab – first of its kind international documentary forum in Bangladesh (started in 2017).

I'm Oli, a recent first-class graduate from the Liverpool Screen School - I'd love to be able to share my passion for the medium of cinema with all of those who are currently discovering it themselves! I have over a decade of experience in the subject, whether it be the academic aspects of Film Studies, or the creative, subjective aspect of practical filmmaking.
In terms of my academic experience, I've had academic essays about Film published through international publications, as well as having my personal essays supported passionately by my academic peers at university. I've worked alongside some of the best UK-based cinematic scholars to achieve my knowledge and approach to Film Studies, and I'd be thrilled to aid anyone who needs extra support regarding their studies - even if it's simply putting tough theoretical concepts into layman's terms.
Regarding my practical experience - it's vast! I've been an independent filmmaker for over half a decade, and my films have been recognised at festivals worldwide. I've also founded a North-Western film production company, Keystone Productions, which works with independent filmmakers and producers to ensure their visions are met.
My passion for film, and my understanding of how it works in both a theoretical and practical sense, is unparalleled. I've used it to meet some incredible directors and scholars, and it has taken me worldwide on a journey to some of the most incredible parts of cinematic history, including the likes of Aesthetica Film Festival, and Cannes Film Festival. My name is Ryan B., I am 26 years old and currently live in Belfast, Northern Ireland. In 2021, I graduated with a www.*** Bachelor's honours degree in Film Studies and Production at Queen's University Belfast. The following year, I graduated with a commendation Master's Degree in Film, at the same University. Throughout my studies, I have obtained a high level of film knowledge within American cinema, British cinema, European cinema and World cinema. I became extremely fascinated and passionate with film theory and film history, involving analysing, criticising and engaging in research.
To this end, I am interested in writing film essays, reviews and articles. I thrive in decoding film narratives, symbolism, allegory, plot functions, directorial styles and techniques, as well as theoretical and practical film language. These specific skills which I have adopted over the years, have been developed and capitalised on through watching key films throughout the history of cinema, engaging in film literature, listening to film commentaries, podcasts, discussion panels, and by studying the important filmmakers and films since the onset of motion pictures, during my studies and in my own time. I frequently write reviews as a hobby, and I am always aware of new releases in cinema's and on streaming platforms as well as what is important to watch and what isn't. ·Solo Productions and LBS Films: (29th August-Present) Sound Engineer for the feature film Wyvern Hill. The first feature film for Jonathan Zau-rin, coming off the success of his short film Santa Baby. Written by Dr. Who screenwriter Keith Temple.
·The Farnham Film Company: (18th August 2019- Present) Camerawork and sound recording for Ian Lewis who produces and directs Coolcucumber TV and is an ex ITV Producer.
·Millichap Peace Fund: (1st October 2019) AV and filming for the live event; Zero Carbon Britain: A Climate Emergency Action Plan talk by Paul Allen – Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT). The work included the operation of two cameras, digital projections and setting up a video projection and audio feed from a camera into another seating room. The event was held at St Methodist Church in Hereford. I reported into the technical production manager and contributed to the event being a great success
·Hereford Musical Theatre Company: (18th June 2018-1st December 2019) Sound technician for live theatre productions. Working as stage crew for HMTC productions held at The Courtyard e. g. The Producers (4th-10th November 2018).
·The Courtyard Centre for the Arts: (14th October 2018-November 2018) Shadowing and assisting with the sound for live theatre productions.
·Just Dust: (January 2019- Present) Sound design for Sound Art pieces which were for a MA Fine Art course and to exhibit in instillations. The name of the instillation is Voicing Herefordshire Soil in the Anthropocene, the first launch of the instillation was the 19th-26th July 2019 in Hereford City Centre. The instillation was very popular and successful. The work is set to be exhibited at Aberystwyth University.
·The Community Broadcast Company (CBC): (26th August 2015 – 29th August 2017) This included various productions, from conducting media workshops, to producing promotional videos for companies such as KAW Interior design www.*** My main responsibilities included sound recording/editing, cinematography and production assisting.

Assisting with video editing, filming, recording voiceover, sound design, and film related office work, which included sound, image, and footage research.

·Hayley Dickinson- Filmmaker: (21st March 2017- 25th February 2019) Sound Recordist/Sound Editor for Dénouement (Short Film) directed by Hayley Dickinson whose work has won many awards, at many different festivals; two for 'Best Music Video' and one 'Best Student Director’. The film Dénouement was screened at the BFI in London on 16th August 2017 and has also won awards at festivals. Hayley worked for Netflix, but I still worked with her on a freelance basis. Hayley has now been signed to a US directing / writing management team and is set to move to Los Angeles.

My career has involved the management of change within an increasingly technological driven media workplace. I can offer 20+ years experience in this sector with particular knowledge of supported development and management of student learning. We offer local perspectives on issues promoting positive values via an online magazine, social media, and a print magazine coupled with an internet radio station. Our primary aim is to involve the 18-24 year old job seeking demographic, enabling their personal development, improving their employment/interpersonal skills and employment prospects. We hoped to achieve this in particular by increasing confidence and self esteem with removing barriers that would be traditionally by in place associated with the media industry. I enjoy prioritising my workload to consistently produce work of high accuracy with excellent attention to detail skills and a logical approach to problem solving. My professionalism and organised approach enable me to remain calm when working under pressure and I am enthusiastic and conscientious, with a natural ability to deal appropriately with people on all levels.
