I am currently in my tenth year of a rewarding career in teaching. I am a creative and imaginative individual with expertise in teaching and learning and experience of developing others. I pride myself on my professionalism, positive attitude and ability to work effectively in a team and leadership role. Responsibilities, Accountabilities and Achievements Leadership Developed and led the delivery of new departmental strategies and schemes of work by 3 other RS specialists’ and a HLTA. Mentored NQT’s. The role of Head of Department has seen me develop into an assertive leader who is able to adapt, appease and when needed address problems head on i. e. I led the department through a complete redesign of Curriculum and developed the materials and resources to ease this change along. This has also involved delegating some tasks, setting deadlines and monitoring progress. Introduced and lead the whole school focus of monitoring and evidencing SMSC across the school which involves leading whole staff training and communicating new ideas and initiatives. Creativity and strategic planning Planned creative and imaginative schemes of work, assessments and gifted and talented resources across all key stages. Involved in planning cross curricular projects with other departments and projects with local Primary schools. In 2010 I was also asked to participate in the ‘Celebrating RE’ month in March 2010 as a RE Champion for Essex. Following this I co-organised and ran two Philosophy conferences for A Level students as well as an evening community lecture. As part of my whole school role I have mentored other departments and lead staff training on demonstrating SMSC in lessons. Staff and student development Acted as a school based PGCE mentor in my previous post and NQT mentor. Delivered whole school training on outstanding teaching and SMSC. Led Twilight CPD sessions on thinking skills, group work, independent learning and Sixth Form teaching and learning strategies. Developed strategies for monitoring of student target setting and tracking within the department, something I have now introduced into my pastoral role. In the academic year 2011-2012 I was asked to mentor other departments to raise standards of teaching and learning and leadership and management.
