I was a tutor at Wiltshire College for 14 years, then taught Mathematics and Science in the field of Military Science at MOD for another 14 years to 2012. I am an enthusiastic and dedicated English tutor, examiner and writer. I offer stimulating and enjoyable lessons via video call which build upon each student's strengths to enable them to overcome their difficulties with greater confidence. I have taught corporate clients for the past 10 years and for the previous 4 years was an IELTS instructor for Aston American University. I taught students online worldwide and helped many students achieve the result they needed in the test. Lessons were usually conducted on zoom or Skype. I also wrote a PTE Academic Test of English course for Aston American. I have published degree level distance learning courses and occasional reviews, e.g. in the Times Higher Education Supplement. French Interpreter with the British Army, deployed to Estonia in September 2021 for a 9 month tour as part of NATO's Enhanced Forward Presence Battlegroup, serving alongside the French Army as an interpreter for the 400-strong British contingent.
Studied French and Arabic at university for a four year degree in Modern Langauges. One year was spent in the northern French town of Valenciennes, near Lille. This was a town with real culture and history and allowed me to make the most of my surroundings and started my inseparable love of all things French and the French language.
More recently deployed to France as interpreter for UK's 3 Armoured Division on Exercise ORION, the largest exercise held on French territory since the Cold War.
