Hi,
My name is Russell and I have been a qualified teacher for over 10 years now. I have worked in a number of different education settings including primary, secondary, further education and SEND. I can offer tutoring for any reason you have, whether it be to improve confidence, work on specific areas or prepare for SATS/GCSE's. I have experience teaching both Foundation and Higher tier GCSE so can cater for any need.
I always offer my first session for free so that you can see whether I am the right fit moving forward. My rate is £25 per hour however, I am happy to negotiate this also.

I am an enthusiastic and dedicated English tutor, examiner and writer. I offer stimulating and enjoyable lessons via video call which build upon each student's strengths to enable them to overcome their difficulties with greater confidence. I find tutoring immensely rewarding and strive to help all my students meet their full potential regardless of their ability. I have experience teaching SEN students, particularly those with autism, dyslexia and manual difficulties. To date I have had 100% pass rate and all of my students have achieved grades 9-4 (A*- C). I am a member of the Tutors Association and have a current DBS Enhanced certificate .
I understand fully the advantages and disadvantages of studying from home as I have gained all of my qualifications through distance learning, including my PhD. I also home schooled my son from the age of 4-16. I have been a judge of the BBC Radio 2 '500 Words' children's short story competition and a volunteer for the National Literacy Trust's "Summer Reading Challenge" for children. I have a research interest in Thomas Hardy and write poetry and English study guides.

I am a philosophy and theology graduate from the university of Edinburgh, and have also completed a masters in creative writing from bath spa university. I am a qualified Science teacher with experience of teaching Biology, Chemistry and Physics to GCSE & Biology to A-level. I graduated from the University of Birmingham with a Hons degree in Medical Biochemistry and then went on to complete a PhD in Biochemistry. I then completed a PGCE in 1997. I have taught in a variety of establishments including grammar and comprehensive schools and also in further education colleges. I am currently working as head of Science at an online learning provider where lessons are taught live online to students who are unable to attend school for various reasons.
I have experience of teaching Science to students of differing abilities and also have experience of teaching science to students with a variety of special education needs including a student with visual impairment. In addition to striving to instill a love of learning and making learning exciting and interesting, I utilize activities according to curriculum requirements, and expand on previous knowledge while encouraging students to explore new and interesting possibilities. I also spur students to construct their own learning in an environment that stimulates and helps them realize their full potential.
Having taught in international multicultural schools, I have had some excellent results with a wide range of learners who had had a history/background of 'not-so-good' performance in Math, English and Sciences. A good number of my students who had challenges in core aspects now hit on-levels and above-levels with ease, confidence, and delight.
With lots of experience preparing children for 7+,11+ and 13+ exams, I intend to combine my wealth of teaching experience with my ability as a compassionate, enthusiastic, innovative teacher in order to help your child achieve and exceed their goals.
