Jack H., PhD., is an anthropologist exploring the borderlands of consciousness, religion and ecology. He is an Honorary Research Fellow with the Alister Hardy Religious Experience Research Centre, University of Wales Trinity Saint David, and a tutor at the Sophia Centre for the Study of Cosmology in Culture, University of Wales Trinity Saint David. He teaches on the MA in Ecology and Spirituality and the MA in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology. He is also a tutor for the Alef Trust on their MSc in Consciousness, Spirituality and Transpersonal Psychology, where he teaches on the Approaches to Consciousness module. He has been a teacher of Access to HE (Humanities and Social Sciences) for over five years, with expertise in sociology and psychology. His teacher training at the University of Chester was in Secondary Religious Education. He has published numerous papers and articles in academic and popular publications, and is the author of Manifesting Spirits (2020), Spirits, Gods and Magic (2020) and Ecology and Spirituality (2023). He is the editor of Deep Weird (2023), Greening the Paranormal (2019) and Damned Facts (2016), and co-editor of Talking With the Spirits (2014), Mattering the Invisible (2021) and Folklore, People and Place (2023). He lives in the hills of Mid-Wales with his family.

My name is Zoë and I am currently 18 and on my gap year with the intent to start university in September, where I will study a course centered around Anthropology, politics and various cultural studies. So far this year I have held the position of pre-nursery and K1 teacher at an international kindergarten in Hong Kong, travelled through the Philippines and have become certified a TEFL tutor; before my gap year is over I am aiming to do some more traveling, gain more qualifications and secure an internship.

From these three qualifications I have learnt essential skills, for example, orientation and navigation using both traditional ordnance survey maps (OSM) and military grade gps equipment, plotting treks and hikes that rage from 6-18km, basic bush craft and practical camping experience; as well as learning to rely on my own dependability and capabilities as a team member and leader.

Relying on the skills and experience gained from Duke of Edinburgh expeditions and Army camps and training, I was equipped with the ground knowledge required to safely begin a basic mountaineering course. However, due to extreme weather conditions and the surrounding environment licensed professionals were required to to train all participants in navigation (map and compass skills, navigating through a snow storm, rock navigation etc), basic rock climbing techniques (how to leverage your weight, use a harness, how and where to place your feet and properly climb and down climb) avalanche safety and companion rescue, packing for an expedition, Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness First Aid, the ways in which equipment like ice axes and crampons must be correctly used and snow-holing. All entirely new and daunting challenges that have taught me to carefully listen to instructions while also forcing me think on my feet and calculate a plan in unexpected situations.

The five years of acting as a cadet has been one of my most treasured experiences of high school. Terms and conditions
I pride myself on building up a good working relationship with my clients. Since tutoring is normally for a period of some months as examinations approach and in the interests of fair play for both parties, I've set out some key points regarding charges and cancellations during the tutoring period.
Charges
A-Level sessions are delivered online weekly via Teams in one-hour blocks. Charges reflect my qualifications, experience and the way my sessions are tailored to each individual student’s needs, making them highly effective at boosting learning, confidence and grades. Knowing all the misconceptions and pitfalls on content and structuring examination questions makes all the difference and it is vital that tutoring is effective for the student.
I am happy to offer each new client one free initial assessment and discussion session to assess the needs and type of help required plus it gives you a chance to see how I work and fit in with your requirements. There is no obligation on either side to continue after this first session.
Cancellations Policy
Once a regular slot has been booked for the student, the same time every week, I will endeavour always to be available to tutor them. There is scope for discussion if a session needs to be rearranged (24 hours requested), subject to my availability.
From time to time, flexibility on both sides is required due to life events and unexpected occurrences. This may involve cancellation of a particular session or the need to reschedule and I will always try to accommodate if I can do so.
