Rachel W.
Rachel is a qualified Primary School Teacher (PGCE 1996) with a further qualification of Reading Recovery teacher (UCL 2015) in post since 2015 part time in school. Rachel stayed at home for several years to bring up her family and returned to work in school in 2008. She has been teaching one to one for over seven years in her local infant school, firstly with a Year 1/2 maths intervention before moving to Reading Recovery, completing her Reading Recovery training year in June 2015.
In addition to school Rachel has been doing some tuition from her home – all online via video link since the start of the pandemic. Her specialist area is Key Stage One, although she also has experience tutoring lower Key Stage Two children who were struggling with reading and writing and had additional learning needs.
She is mum to three grown up sons, the youngest of which isstudying for his A levels whilst the oldest is focusing on completing a degree in Architecture. One of her sons has high functioning Autism with additional needs, meaning she has a lot of personal experience in helping children who are on the spectrum and may require a different approach to their education.
Rachel has always loved reading and enjoys being able to pass on this skill to the next generation. In recent years she has attended some overseas volunteer projects in the school holidays to help children there develop their English language skills, enhancing their employment opportunities for the future.
Rachel is very much enjoying teaching online and is finding it to be an exciting new way to educate young people.

I am a kind and caring teacher who believes children should feel confident in everything they can do.
I believe tutoring is a great way to show children what they are capable of. With support, dedication and a tailored programme, your child will flourish and excel.
I aim to build great relationships which will help your child when concepts might be tricky for them or when they need a boost of encouragement to help build their resilience. I take time to understand gaps in knowledge, teach them to a mastery level before moving on and progressing to ensure you child has a well-rounded understanding of all ideas, concepts and objectives.

A british citizen by descent, I was raised in Swaziland (Eswatini), a small country in Southern Africa and have had the privilege of being educated in multiple countres. I am grateful for this opportunity to have experienced different cultures, share my life with many different types of people and I feel that this has given me both an appreciation and greater understanding of other people in their lives, as well as a wisdom that comes from the privilege of varied life experiences. People are important to me. I moved to the UK at the beginning of 2020 and have enjoyed it as much as I can with the current circumstances.
I am a 19 year old law and criminology student. Due to the lockdown I unfortunately lost my job as a barmaid, so I am currently a student unable to support myself. I have childcare experience and thought since I love children and have always been academically organized, I decided to put two and two together and venture into tutoring. I really hope you will be able to place your trust in me because I have a huge heart and only want the best for everyone, including your children!

Perceptual Enrichment Programme School, Learning Centre
|
Perceptual difficulties affect not only reading, spelling, maths and handwriting but a whole range of everyday functioning, including self-esteem and behaviour.
Research recognises that early learning experiences affect later development and if one stage is missed out or not fully grasped, the future development may be impaired and the individual has to find ways to compensate. The Perceptual Enrichment Programme has been designed to integrate the different stages of perceptual development, to develop neural pathways and to stimulate the frontal processing area of the brain.
When a child learns to relate to the world he or she passes through various stages of development, each stage building upon the previous one. Concrete operations such as matching, remembering, recognising familiar shapes in unfamiliar settings, identifying a whole object from it's parts and understanding how shapes relate to each other, are all a basis for understanding increasingly more complex concepts. For example, in order to think in abstract terms, one must have a firm understanding of how parts go together to make a whole, and to categorize, one must be able to observe detail.
Initially if a child is unable to see how parts go together to make a whole, or is unable to sequence, he or she may find it difficult to see how letters go together to make words, and how words combine to make sentences.

Beeston Fields Primary School School, Learning Centre
|
Beeston Fields Primary school was originally built in 1931 and began as two schools, an Infant and Junior. These amalgamated in April 2001 to form the new school of Beeston Fields Primary and Nursery School and in September 2015 we became an academy joining the Flying High Trust Partnership.
We have a purpose built Foundation Stage Unit where both F1 and F2 children play and learn. Main school has two classes per year group, each classroom is well resourced and include interactive whiteboards to engage the children in their learning. Our period building has many small areas to allow 1:2:1 and small group activities to take place away from the distractions of the main classroom; each Key Stage has a 'hub' with resources appropriate to their age ranges.
Our two halls provide us space for our assemblies, physical education, dining, clubs, performances and other community events. Our bright school library provides an attractive space for the children to foster a love of books and reading. We are pleased that with regular investment we are able to provide lots of engaging and interesting books.
We are also very fortunate with our outdoor space. We have a large astroturf pitch which allows for all year round use as well as a playground and trim trail with grassed area. The Foundation Stage has its own outdoor space allowing our younger children; a quieter place to play and learn. We are pleased to be part of the local community by running an allotment which gives our children opportunities to learn about growing plants and vegetables.

Bowbrook House School School, Learning Centre
|
Our average class size is 14 and we have an overall pupil to teacher ratio of 1 to 12. Classes in the Infants and Juniors are limited to 16. Year groups in the Middles and Seniors may average 26 - 28. These are then taught in two ability groups thus maintaining our small class sizes. Bowbrook's strength lies in its size.
This personalised approach enables all pupils to flourish. We are large enough to compete and to challenge, yet small enough to care.
Individual pupil success, success within the county of Worcestershire and success on the National stage.
Winners of National ISA Awards in 2010, 2013 and again in 2017. Worcestershire Education Awards, double winners in 2017 and finalists again in two categories in 2018. We constantly challenge our staff and our pupils to strive to be the best that they can.
