A few testimonials from recent past and current clients (more are available to view on my website)
"I just want to send my thanks for offering us online tutoring via Skype. Following a few weeks of face to face lessons, a change in circumstances meant my daughter wouldn’t be able to attend for 3 weeks. Rather than have to cancel you offered us online lessons which I was happy to accept, but to be honest a little sceptical. I shouldn’t have been. The lessons are structured really well and work perfectly using webcams and online learning tools. You’ve done a really great job of keeping the lessons interesting but also really focused. We’re happy to continue with our online lessons and have now booked more for the Easter holidays. We highly recommend them and Nicola to anyone."
Year 6, March 2020
"Nicola has been tutoring my daughter for about 6 months. She makes her lessons fun and during lockdown her online zoom lessons have been invaluable. My daughter was lacking confidence in maths and literacy and Nicola is really helping her to build confidence, especially in maths which she has made good progress in. I would highly recommend Nicola and her friendly and fun approach to learning."
Year 3, July 2020
"Nicola has provided excellent maths tuition to our daughter who is in year 8 and we would highly recommend her to anyone who is thinking about having tuition for their child . She has provided wonderful support and we have seen our daughter’s progress with her maths improve dramatically since starting tuition with Nicola; she has really made a big difference and our daughter’s confidence with her maths is far greater than before. We moved from face to face tuition to online tuition as a result of the COVID-19 situation and this transition has proven extremely successful. Our daughter has continued to thrive with her maths with the online tuition and she really enjoys using the online tools and interaction during her sessions, we have been very impressed with this method. We would highly recommend Nicola’s tuition service and would like to say how grateful we are for her continuing support, professionalism and calm approach; she continues to be a welcome source of relief for our daughter, who before her tuition was finding maths a struggle but now has the understanding and interest to develop and learn and enjoy this subject."
Year 8, July 2020
"Nicola has provided very thoughtful, thorough Maths tuition for our son in year 6. She has really been creative in the sessions, thinking of personally tailored ways to engage his interest. She has a kind manner and has helped to build his confidence as well as his ability. For a child who thought he couldn`t stand Maths, I`ve been amazed by how much he has enjoyed his lessons. The online lessons have worked brilliantly too."

My name is Charanjit and I was born and raised in East London. I have worked extremely hard to establish myself through my education. I truly believed that education will open many doors and shapes the future. I studied at Loughborough university (ranked 4th in the UK) and then joined the Teach First graduate scheme where I studied part time at UCL. I have gained a Qualified Teachers Status as an outstanding teacher.
I have spent the last two years in a school environment and specialise in teaching KS2. My data continuously demonstrates my strong capabilities as a teacher, I am firm in my approach and produce results.
I am a fully qualified primary teacher currently in my fourth year of full time teaching with a Reception class. My specialities are in Early Years and Key Stage 1 and I also have a specialism in Special Educational Needs on my degree. I have lead phonics accross a year group and I see phonics and early literacy as my strongest subjects to teach. I teach in a multi sensory way and will make it as engaging and as personal as I possibly can. I will also try to bring children's interests into their learning. I have a lot of experience teaching children with a range of learning difficulties including having completed placements in special schools and had experience in a speech and language unit. I currently teach a class with a wide variety of special needs including autism, development delay, speech and language disorder and dyslexia.
I am a qualified English Literature and Language teacher and Teach First ambassador, specialising in secondary schools (years 7-13), since 2012, and prep schools (years 4-8) since 2018. I also teach mathematics up to and including Upper KS2: Long Division, Common Factors, Common Multiples, Prime Numbers, Mental Calculations, Square and Cube Numbers and more for that Key Stage.
I have been tutoring one-to-one since 2015 and found, since the 2020 lockdown, that tutoring online can be just as beneficial if not better for several reasons: no travel for either party; shared resources online rather than requiring a printer, therefore saving paper; allowance for different ways of communicating rather than just speech - for example, silent discussions through typed notes that can be edited, saved and stored immediately - which is especially beneficial for students with speech impairments or those who communicate better through writing.
I have been working for a home-education group in the woods near to where I live since September 2019 and have continued to learn and explore the importance of creativity, immersion in a task and a level of autonomy on a student's learning path. I aim to reproduce what I have learnt in my years of experience to offer online tutoring lessons for both individuals and groups.
My experience spans from working in one of the most poverty-stricken provinces in Buenos Aires in 2010 as an English tutor for disadvantaged children, to working as the private tutor for my school's Sheikh's son in Qatar during my three years working in a British international school out there. (2015-2018.) I am interested in all people from all walks of life and all educational backgrounds.

Rachel is a qualified Primary School Teacher (PGCE 1996) with a further qualification of Reading Recovery teacher (UCL 2015) in post since 2015 part time in school. Rachel stayed at home for several years to bring up her family and returned to work in school in 2008. She has been teaching one to one for over seven years in her local infant school, firstly with a Year 1/2 maths intervention before moving to Reading Recovery, completing her Reading Recovery training year in June 2015.
In addition to school Rachel has been doing some tuition from her home – all online via video link since the start of the pandemic. Her specialist area is Key Stage One, although she also has experience tutoring lower Key Stage Two children who were struggling with reading and writing and had additional learning needs.
She is mum to three grown up sons, the youngest of which isstudying for his A levels whilst the oldest is focusing on completing a degree in Architecture. One of her sons has high functioning Autism with additional needs, meaning she has a lot of personal experience in helping children who are on the spectrum and may require a different approach to their education.
Rachel has always loved reading and enjoys being able to pass on this skill to the next generation. In recent years she has attended some overseas volunteer projects in the school holidays to help children there develop their English language skills, enhancing their employment opportunities for the future.
Rachel is very much enjoying teaching online and is finding it to be an exciting new way to educate young people.

I am a Teaching assistant working in a primary school, I have 3 years experience working with ages 3 - 11.
My name is Katie, I am currently working as a Primay school teacher and private tutor in Cambridgeshire. I have been teaching for nearly 6 years and have experience teaching in EYFS, year 1, year 2 and year 5. I have also tutored children in years 3 and 4.
Due to the current restrictions in place, I am currently tutoring online using 'Zoom'. I plan the session based around the child's needs which is often 30 minutes of English and 30 minutes of Maths. However, if needed, I would happily do a full hour on a specific subject or a shorter session of 30 minutes; I am flexible to do what suits you!
Please get in touch if you need any extra support for home learning through these strange times, it would be great to organise a free consultaion to discuss your requirements.
I look forward to hearing from you,
As a teaching assistant I have worked with children across all primary key stages. As an early year’s nursery nurse, I developed an invaluable understanding of the initial stages of development upon which a child’s abilities are developed; whilst as a teaching assistant I gained a solid understanding of the demands of the National Curriculum and different strategies used in the classroom environment. The impact of my previous and current roles is that I have first-hand experience of the learning and development continuum that each child goes through, from birth through to leaving primary school at year 6.
As a teaching assistant I have worked across all key stages delivering interventions to pupils with SEN/EAL or those who required additional support on either a one to one or group basis. The impact of the interventions I delivered was that all pupils reached their early learning goals or targets. As part of my role I covered lessons and delivered full class teaching, enabling the class teacher to work with target groups. As a result of this, I worked closely with the class teacher to observe progress, deliver joint strategies and plan next steps for students. I worked collaboratively with the teacher to plan and assess stages of learning, as well as continually striving to create a learning environment which is stimulating. I recognise that a stimulating learning environment provides support mechanisms for the children to develop independence in their learning, resulting in students developing themselves further in their learning by feeling safe and valued. A main focus within my role had been planning and teaching with a lower ability SEN group. Due to the diverse needs of the group, I effectively differentiated tasks in order to deliver lessons at each child’s own level, pace and ability to ensure progression was made. My excellent creativity had been acknowledged by senior management and I have utilised this throughout the school maintaining teaching and learning environments around the school to an exceptional standard.
From beginning my teacher training course in September, I believe that behaviour management is an important factor within the classroom. Throughout my experience I consider praise and reward systems to be very effective. By emphasising good behaviour rather than negative behaviour I create a more positive and relaxed atmosphere for learning, as well as strengthening the pupil-teacher relationship and respect required in the classroom. I have demonstrated this by adapting the new behaviour system the school has adopted to match a theme which best suits the needs and interests of the children within my class resulting in a significant improvement being achieved. Furthermore, I have demonstrated my ability to reach children with additional emotional needs when a new pupil joined the class; I identified his social and emotional needs quickly and efficiently before putting effective support in place for the child using the skills I had developed following learning mentor training. The benefit of the support I provided has helped the child to settle into their new surroundings with greater ease and understand that support is there when needed.
I have been teaching for 10 years in Harrogate. My passion lies in the fun, play based learning, which engages children and accelerates learning. Our learning will take place outside as much as possible. Before sessions commence, I will have a detailed discussion with the child's parents, to gather as much information as possible, and so that I can tailor our learning to a theme which suits a child's interest.
I am a Key Stage 1 enthusiast with plenty of experience.
