My sessions will be as student-led as possible, by this I mean I will always prioritize topics you want to focus on. We will discuss which topics you find most challenging and ones you feel most confident in and also look at how topics interlink with each other.
As well as topic content we will work on exam technique, we will look at how to approach a question, identifying the methods needed, and how to answer question in order to ensure you scoop up as many marks as possible.
In addition, we will explore the best learning style for you. I appreciate the last thing you feel like doing after a day at school or work is listen to a tutor talking, therefore I will make sessions as interactive as possible using a range of resources such as visuals, practical tasks or even a song to help remember those formulae!
As a secondary school teaching assistant, I attend GCSE maths lessons and provide support to students either 1-to-1 or in small groups. Outside of lessons, I work with students to further help them with particular topics they are struggling with. I have supported students on the verge of dropping maths completely to being well on their way to achieving a GCSE. From experience, the topics students find the trickiest are algebra, fractions and angels. I have developed a good understanding of what can make each topic difficult for a student. From interacting with different maths teachers and students, I have devised a range of strategies to develop a strong understanding of each topic.
I do not believe in the concept of being a ‘maths person’ or not. Every skill can be learnt with determination and the right support. My own journey in maths was not so smooth, I found it very difficult on starting secondary school but with a bit of extra work outside lessons, it became my favourite subject and I got an A* in my GCSE. I’m now starting a masters in Marine Science for which strong maths skills are essential. I hope to help those like me to develop confidence in maths and never feel that maths will hold them back from future opportunities.
I often hear it said that someone is either a ‘maths person’ or they are not, this is a belief that I disagree with and think that any skill can be learnt with determination and the right support. This is something I have learnt in my own experience as I admit my journey in maths was not always smooth. Nearing the end of primary, I was struggling a lot in maths and my teacher even said that ‘there was no helping me’. However, with a little extra work outside of lessons it soon became my favourite subject in secondary school and I went on to achieve an A* (now a 9) in my GCSE. Now I am due to start a masters in Marine Science, which I could not have done without strong maths skills. I wish to be able to help others, like me, to become confident in maths and never feel like their maths is going to hold them back from going for opportunities they want.

I have been teaching in the classroon and online for over thirty years. It has been a great experience helping students with their studies. More recently I have been tutoring Maths to GCSE online for the National Tutoring Programme. It is always a most rewarding to find that my skills as a teacher can help students overcome certain difficulties they may be having with their maths. Teaching online gives me access to a whole wealth of wonderful resorces. This facility has proved invaluable and it is great to be able to pinpoint what learning materials might best suit a certain student. My apporach is energetic, brisk - and above all enthusiastic. When I finish lessons there is usually a great sense of achievement having been made and, to be quite honest, tutoring does not feel like a job at all. I have always had interest in mathematics that was the reason I studied systems analyst in university. After my BSC I started tutoring students having challenge with calculations (physics calculations, chemistry calculations) especially mathematics as I want to passed on my knowledge and enthusiasm for mathematics as a subject. I have taught mathematics in different tutorial center both one-to-one, online classes with different range of levels.

Hi I am a father of three and love helping others if I can. I personally love chemistry and biology. I can also tutor maths if needed. I have tutored an exneighbour from core skills (maths and science) to A-level Chemistry and onto her degree in Pharmacology. Where I still get the odd what's app message for help rounding out a subject that has not fully grasped. She has so far had all passes these have included distinctions. During lock down. I managed to home school my girls yr2 and Yr l4 then. At 3 hours of school a day. My eldest managed to get to GCSE maths level and she was learning algebra when they returned to school. Where I was informed that she had completed the syllabus for primary maths.
This along with my belief that no one is unreachable and everyone can learn the subject if it is conveyed in a way the student understands. For example my aforementioned exneighbour chemistry was easier to grasp the concepts if we liked them to baking and the various reactions that happen during the making cakes etc.
I have also recently become a volunteer with ACT (anglia care trust) this has allowed me to help others with improving their lives, and so I hope I can help people on here aswell.

Hi there! I'm Nikkyy, a super enthusiastic math tutor with 2 years of experience, and I just love making math awesome for kids and students aged 11 to 14.
I totally get that math can sometimes be tricky, but that's where I come in! In my two years of teaching, I've learned all the cool ways to make math fun and easy to understand. I believe every kid is unique, so my lessons are all about finding what works best for them.
