My passion and expertise lie in phonics and reading, it's my passion to teach children to read! Close second is writing, I love to help children realise their potential and unlocking their imagination in creative writing whilst meeting curriculum demands of spelling, punctuation and grammar.
With 5 plus years spotting and closing gaps in childrens mathematical knowledge I can confidently perforate children for the end of key stage assessments. I have years of experience of not only supporting children with additional learning needs but also helping them feel success and pride in their learning where ever they are.
Welcome! I have been teaching for over twenty years as a private tutor, face to face and online. I have also had experience of teaching in the classroom in both primary, secondary and further education. My strength is my unbridled enthusiasm and a desire and joy to realise a student can do it. My apporaching to teaching in general is to make the subject both fun and interesting. This often makes students feel at ease and hence enables success to become achievable.
As can be seen from my profile, my main degrees are in music and creative writing. The study of these disciplines gives the subjects I teach, Maths and English.
I have 5 years teaching experience in mathematics and physics. I also run a coaching and tuition agency in my hometown.
I have been teaching in the classroon and online for over thirty years. It has been a great experience helping students with their studies. More recently I have been tutoring Maths to GCSE online for the National Tutoring Programme. It is always a most rewarding to find that my skills as a teacher can help students overcome certain difficulties they may be having with their maths. Teaching online gives me access to a whole wealth of wonderful resorces. This facility has proved invaluable and it is great to be able to pinpoint what learning materials might best suit a certain student. My apporach is energetic, brisk - and above all enthusiastic. When I finish lessons there is usually a great sense of achievement having been made and, to be quite honest, tutoring does not feel like a job at all.
