The Alyson Livesey Academy was founded in January 1989, with just a handful of children. The school grew from strength to strength frequently appearing at major venues across the country, including the Palace Theatre, Manchester and even the London Palladium! In 1997, Alyson opened an additional branch in Whitefield (where we are today) and a further branch in Bolton. In February 2000 the whole school amalgamated and settled at the Whitefield premises.

The Dawson's Academy of Dance and Stage was established in 1987 and in that time has grown from small beginnings into one of the largest, and well known and respected dance and stage schools in the North West. The Academy offers training and coaching for children and students in Dance, Singing Drama, Musical Theatre and all the performing arts, and is very proud to have been awarded the Bolton Gold Mark (Kite marked status) The pupils of the school have appeared in many shows on stage and TV over the years, and in that time raising thousands of pounds for good causes.
Over the 32 years the pupils have appeared on many famous stages including The Albert Halls, The Palace Theatre, The Lowry Theatre, The Blackpool Opera House, The Globe Theatre Blackpool, The Middleton Arena, The De Vere Hotel group, The Palace Hotel, The Hilton Hotel and not forgetting Her Majesty’s Theatre in London’s West end.
They have been invited to represent Bolton Town in Paderborn Germany (Twin Town) and have appeared for celebrities including John Major and Margaret Thatcher, George Sampson, to name a few from the past. TV Appearances include the Disney Channel, Channel 5s (Don’t Stop Believing) CBBC Glee choir finalists and recently the new Vosene (Happy Shampoo) advert on ITV!
We are very proud of Our Ex-students who have moved on to top Colleges around the country achieving DADA Awards and are now at present appearing on stage in the hit musicals Matilda, Fame the Musical Guys and Dolls, and on the new Wicked tour!
This year the Academy celebrates its 30th Anniversary in business and are very excited about the forthcoming celebrations and shows planned over the year. The Principal and Director Miss Dawn Dawson, would like to thank all her strong team at the Academy, for all their hard work, and passion, not forgetting the real stars the pupils and patient supportive parents, who make all this possible.
The Academy has grown in size and reputation over the years to become one of the leading Dance Drama Singing specialist centres in the North West. Pupils have performed on many well-known stages both large and small all around the country and we are very proud to have raised thousands of pounds for charity over the 31 years the Academy has been in business. Many students and ex-students have gone onto to achieve DADA Scholarships in top colleges including Arts Ed, Laine Theatre Arts, SLP, Performers College, Guildford Mountview, Webber Douglas Academy and many more. Ex Students have appeared in Wicked, Disney Beauty and The Beast, The Last Tango, Mama Mia, Les Misérables, Guys and Dolls (Including The Olivier Awards) South Pacific, Matilda, Fame The Musical Ten in Singapore, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Mary Poppins, Moulin Rouge and The recent film Dunkirk! Whether students attend the school to train or to pursue a professional career in the arts, or as a hobby, we aim to ensure their training and experiences are as rewarding and memorable as possible. The Academy has grown in size and reputation over the years to become one of the leading Dance Drama Singing specialist centres in the North West.
