Now I do all my lessons on line, either by Skype, Zoom or any other equivalent .It is cheaper for the pupil, no travelling, so no fuel used, and easier all round as the timings can be changed easily on either side, to suit any sudden problems.
I teach reading music as a given, right from the beginning. Either classical or acoustic but no specific styles, i. e. country, folk, blues etc. No, I will teach you to play properly with tutor books and additional material and with the knowledge gained you will eventually be able to play in whatever style suits you, but I will not teach a style at the lesson.
Having 60 books of guitar music published in 5 different publishers, and having played, arranged, transcribed and written all forms of guitar music since my teens, I am uniquely equipped to teach anyone whether a beginner, or an advanced player or any level in between.
I am often asked to transcribe unpublished classical guitar recordings onto sheet music which I will do happily for a fee, should anyone be interested.
I now have my own classical guitar sheet music and CD review site at www.allclassicalguitar.co.uk and so my working life is completely music based.

I am not a qualified teacher however, I do play guitar myself and have been for over 5 years now, I am an easy going person and just want to teach music and help people learn the guitar and experience the love I have for music, I have music on music streaming platforms (Spotify, amazon music, apple music)
Even if you are beginner or even dabbled a little bit, it doesnt matter, helping somebody to advance musically would be great.

Nathan has been playing Guitar and studying Music for over 15 years, from Primary School right through to the current day in University. Beginning just under a year ago, Nathan has thoroughly enjoyed passing on his enthusiasm and passion for Guitar and Music alike through tutoring. Nathan has several qualifications in Music, including GCSE, A Level and First Class honours in Musical Arts (BA) and, starting with a Masters, he hopes to add to these qualifications in the future. Nathan’s teaching style revolves around his students and therefore adapts to the different students he is teaching, considering their skill level, age and personality when approaching each lesson. Alongside teaching, Nathan is hugely passionate about playing in his Function Band, recording and mixing songs and of course listening to music almost none stop.
Nathan teaches Guitar from beginners to intermediate level players and teaches Music Theory up to grade 5 of all ages. Nathan’s lessons include breaking down the fundamentals of both guitar ad theory, from posture, fingering technique, scales, arpeggios, chords, rhythm, melody and anything else the student wishes to learn. He will teach any exam boards requested, preparing his students for their respective exams by breaking down each technical component previously mentioned with specific focus given to each section of the exam. Whether the student wishes to focus on melody, rhythm, chords or just playing their favourite band’s songs, he will devote all his energy to providing the required tutoring in helping his students fulfil these wishes, whilst enjoying themselves in the process.
Nathan will give his all to teaching as many genres as he possibly can, although has vast experience in classical and pop music, particularly Funk, Rock and Jazz. His first lesson with any student will be relaxed, with the aim of figuring out the students skill level and what they wish to achieve through their lessons. The student simply needs to let Nathan know their priorities in terms of what they wish to learn and their enthusiasm in achieving this. It is common for Nathan to prepare warm-up exercises for his students, such as stretching exercises for the wrists and hands, along with exercises to develop the technique of each hand, for example finger/plectrum exercises and chromatic scales.

I have studied Classical Music to degree level, majoring in Performance (in which I gained a first), with modules also in Composition (for which I have won the Michael Grady Composition Prize), Music Therapy, Indian Improvisation, Ensemble Studies, Music Industry, Historical, Critical and Analytical Studies amongst others.
Having 10 years of professional teaching experience with students of all ages, BA (Hons) in Classical Music Performance and experience in the music industry, I am an ideal teacher for any student, whether their interest is casual, educational or professional, or for any genre, such as pop, rock, classical, jazz or world music. Each student's syllabus will be tailor made based on their current skill level, goals and tastes, with exercises and repertoire added to enhance their learning.
Whether you want to play and write songs casually in a band or want to work through grades to impress with your technical wizardry, whether you wish to play Classical, Flamenco, Pop, Rock, Jazz or Country, whether you are a complete beginner or experienced and wish to brush up your skills, I can offer a fun and efficient means to do so.

Over 10 years of experience playing both guitar and piano across a broad range of musical styles. My style of teaching is all about harnessing the point of interest for students, and using it as a jumping-off point to develop musical vocabulary and understanding. Music is meant to be enjoyed, and this goes for learning it too!
With a deep working knowledge of music theory and experience in blues, jazz, pop, funk and more, I am able to work well within any frame of musical reference in order to harness and develop a students interest in music.
I am a very patient, friendly and empathetic person, and I appreciate the importance of fostering a positive relationship in order to achieve the best outcomes for students.

One of the great joys of playing an instrument is to become able to capture the emotive force that the artistes you so admire can evoke.
Discover how they do it. What scales they use, how they create their sublime musical phrases, what their vibrato is like, what ornamentation they favour...
No doubt you want to get a foot in the door fast.
Learn some power chords and play along with your favourite records in the first lesson.
Don't feel abashed about lacking any previous experience. It's not neccessary. I've taken many adult total beginners up to public performance level.
Music theory, Rock, Pop, Acoustic Guitar and Bass Grades.
You don't have to do them but it's nice to be able to guage your progress and if you're hoping to do a GCSE in music or go to a music college being able to show your credentials can be essential to getting an audition.
My students have a 100% pass rate across 30 years.

I have been teaching guitar and music theory for over a decade, as well as being an active professional musician. Graduating with a 1st Class degree in Music from Southampton University, I have since worked with many world class artists including Joss Stone, Jeff Beck, Beverley Knight, Joselyn Brown, Nitin Sawhney, Lamar, Mica Paris, Incognito, Lack Of Afro, Leigh Coleman, The Voice contestant Hannah Berney, Keith Emerson, KT Tunstall… I have performed at prestigious venues and festivals worldwide including Wembley Stadium, The Royal Albert Hall, Byron Bay Blues Festival and the North Sea Jazz Festival.
I have over a decade of experience teaching guitar and music theory in colleges and schools, as well as teaching private students and running group and university workshops. I have a full DBS check, Public Liability Insurance and am a member of the Musicians Union and the Registry of Guitar Tutors.
I uphold a friendly and professional attitude towards lessons, making sure the student gets the most out of their time with me and has fun. I encourage students to nurture their creativity in their musical journey, learning not just to play and reproduce what they hear, but develop their own voice, improvise and compose for themselves, be it a short riff or a symphony!
Lessons are planned around the students needs and abilities. I am able to teach all abilities from beginner to advanced, in all styles (including classical, rock, pop, funk and jazz) on both electric and acoustic guitar. Sight reading, reading tablature, and music theory are all taught within the lesson and I am able to tutor students through performance and theory exams. It’s not all about results, but for students looking to take grade exams I offer Rock School, RGT, LCM, ABRSM and Trinity College exam boards. I have a proven track record of success, with over 95% of students achieving a Distinction, and 100% achieiving Merit or higher. I can also support students with GCSE and A-Level studies in Music.
When I’m not teaching, performing or behind a guitar, you’ll probably find me walking through the Devon countryside with my miniature dachshund or enjoying some good food and local ale with my wife and baby son.

Joss was born in the small seaside fishing town of Oban on the north west coast of Scotland and moved to Glasgow at an early age. It was in Glasgow where Joss started to take an interest in jazz, becoming involved with jazz workshops and big band at the Glasgow Arts Centre and performing with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Scotland (NYJOS).
Aged seventeen Joss moved to London to study jazz at university. He was taught harmony and theory by Pete Churchill (Jazz Education award 2007) and Nikki Iles (Jazz Education award nominee 2007 & 2009) and had guitar tuition under the guidance of multi-instrumentalist Stuart Hall and Phil Robson (Winner of 'Best Jazz musician of the Year' 2009). Joss also developed his performing skills with tuition by founding members of Loose Tubes - Eddie Parker and jazz educator - trumpeter Chris Batchelor.
After graduating with an honours degree in Jazz (BA Music Jazz Studies) Joss stayed in London for several years working professionally before studying for a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and moving to Devon where he still resides. Joss continues to gig with some of the top musicians in the South West.

Here are some people's comments on my lessons.
"My daughter loves her guitar lessons with Mikey and is now progressing well with Nat 5 Music. His relaxed vibe, patience and humour makes lessons fun and inspiring. We would highly recommend him."
We’ve loved having Mikey as our guitar teacher for over 4 years now.
He’s patient, knowledgeable, flexible and very easy going - even our dog loves it when he comes :-)
He’s currently teaching one of our 16 year old boys (since age 12)and has helped him with everything from Ed Sheeran to Jimmy Hendrix to a bit of Bach (the latter for a school assignment).
We would definitely recommend him 👍

Hello! I'm Freya B., i'm 17 year old musician from the UK. I have played guitar for just over 10 years now, I studied music BTEC for 2 years and achieved Distinction * + Distinction Level 2 in the course. I have around 5 years of live music experience playing with a handful of bands across the country on a rosta of musicians. I have also currently been kindly selected to be a part of Gibson Guitars 2 year G3 scheme after applying last year which is a course to assist younger musicians within the industry starting out. I have experience teaching guitar and music in general and overall just enjoy what i do and im keen to inspire a new generation of guitarists to start their musical journey. 🙂

I started with lessons at school and I was also involved in countless performances both within school and as part of a performing arts academy that I would attend several classes with on a weekly basis. I have a degree in Popular Music from the University of Gloucestershire and I am now based in Hertfordshire. During my training I was able to experience studio work, performance work, composing and experimenting with various genres, in terms of which I am very open minded. I then went on to work in 5 different, well respected, studios in and around London. I can use all of this to help you progress as a player, to help you get to a proffessional standard, or as a fun hobby. I have experience with working with people of all ages and a clear basic DBS check.
Playing guitar is a lifelong skill and by having lessons with me you can learn exactly what you want to learn and exactly how to do it properly. I am more than happy to offer online lessons via Zoom or Skype as well.
