I am an award-winning and highly experienced "super" tutor and academic coach with over 15 years of tutoring, teaching and coaching experience, during which period I have made multiple students become university toppers and world prize winners. As for my own qualifications, I have a First Class Honours degree in Aerospace Engineering and a Doctorate in Engineering (Expertise: High-fidelity numerical simulations). As an undergraduate student at university, I was ranked number 1 with a cumulative average of 84%, for which I was honoured as the `Top Engineering Graduate`. I passed my A-levels (examining board: Edexcel) with straight A grades (note: there were no A* grades at the time), and my Mathematics mark in particular was ranked among the top in the world. To date, I`ve also authored multiple high-impact scientific journal publications.
I started tutoring undergraduates and postgraduates at the age of 19, and A-level students as early as 17. Until recently, I was also employed as a Senior Teaching Associate in Mechatronics Engineering at a leading UK University, where I was widely regarded as the highest-rated Academic. These students have been very happy to work with me because they are being prepared to reach their highest potential, and this is somewhat evident from the fact that they typically acquire the highest marks in their class / cohort. Of the hundreds of students that I have tutored / coached over the past 15 years, almost all acquired the best possible grade and none has ever got a grade lower than a B, despite the spread in the aptitudes and circumstances of incoming students. I always take a student-centered approach to teaching by asking students to bring their notes and talk me through the topics they feel are most difficult. My aim as your tutor would be to identify your strengths and weaknesses and build upon these appropriately. I would incorporate past paper questions very early in the curriculum to assess how well a child can apply their knowledge to answering exam questions. This will ensure that by the time the exams are sat the student will be fully prepared.

After graduating with an honours degree in Mathematics, Zahra entered the hedge fund world where she studied for CIMA and CFA qualifications. During that time she also taught on a voluntary basis, before deciding to pursue teaching full time. She is a supportive and friendly teacher, who has taught GCSE, IGCSE and A-Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics for over 10 years.

I am an enthusiastic and inspiring Maths teacher and tutor with over 20 years of experience. My goal is to find the best possible approach of explaining Mathematics to students of all abilities, helping them to overcome difficulties they encounter in the subject, whether it is a subconscious bloc or even anxiety and feeling of "I can't do it". Each student has a unique set of skills and requires individual approach to get a maximum benefit of combining those skills in learning how to master the subject.
Under my coaching, confident students further perfect their technique and achieve their best grades. I am an expert Mathematics and Physics teacher with international exposure and three main languages. My schooling started in the Lebanon, giving me fluency in Arabic and English and strength in French. As my schooling developed through the International school system in Nigeria and finally graduating with a Lebanese Baccalaureate in Mathematics, I received a fully funded scholarship to pursue Mathematics at the University of Michigan Dearborn and then a partly funded MSc scholarship to specialize in Operations Research at the University of Edinburgh and a MBA from London School of Business and Finance.
My passion for teaching had always been part of my career path. I had the privilege of teaching in several parts of the world catering for a variety of educational systems including GCSE, IGCSE, A-Level, IB, Lebanese Baccalaureate and others. I also taught at University level courses such as Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Electricity for Engineering. I think my life experiences and the diversity in my work experience makes me an excellent communicator and teacher.
I am a highly qualified, organised and self-driven individual with experience in working with children from years 1 to 13, teaching Mathematics in schools and as a private tutor. I have excellent time management skills and extensive experience in preparing engaging lessons adhering to the curriculum and each students’ learning needs and style.
Reflecting on my personal educational experience, external reading and modules I’ve taken up on teaching on top of my degree, I appreciate the impact the teachers make on the lives of young people. Furthermore, I believe that the skills and knowledge acquired throughout a young person’s education academically and personally has an immeasurable influence on their future. Therefore, as a tutor, I teach the material critically, specifically by expanding on the “whys” and the “hows” behind different techniques which would then encourage the students to look at the world more critically.
Additionally, I believe that understanding the reasoning behind each step from a young age is essential to strengthen their independent problem solving skills. Moreover, I believe this is pivotal in reducing maths anxiety, a common type of anxiety many suffer from which has proven to have an adverse effect on academic performance and motivation levels of students across all years.
My Educational Ethos
Throughout my experience as a teaching assistant, I have noticed that many students across all year groups abandon questions if it seems unfamiliar or difficult at first glance. However, when broken down in to steps students are capable of either working out a few of the steps towards the correct answer or reaching the complete answer by themselves.
I believe that one of the main reasons leading to this is the students’ lack of confidence in their ability and knowledge. Therefore, as part of my teaching process I focus on bridging the gap between classwork and being able to adapt their learnings to solve problems.
1. Starter activity
To build their confidence and reinforce their learnings, I start each of my lessons with a starter activity. This would include few questions on the material they have learned in previous lessons or the learnings directly relevant to the material covered in that lesson. I feel that this gives the students the opportunity to refresh their memory and skills whilst subtly drawing attention to the tools necessary for that lesson. These review activities and regular exercises help commit their learnings to long term memory leading to improved academic results.
For example, if the lesson was about using the circle theorems to find the angle x in a circle, I would start my lesson with a fun activity involving circle theorems.
2. Frequent reviewing sessions
Similarly, I like to commit half an hour to an hour per month reviewing and refreshing the material they’ve learnt over the course of the month. This is a great opportunity for the students to ask questions and brush up on their skills. Furthermore, this gives me an opportunity to review their understanding and focus on the divisions I feel could be improved. These reviewing sessions ensure effective learning as most of the material is built upon previous skills and learnings and consolidating the underpinning topics is key, especially in Mathematics.
3. Exercises
I believe the exercises given to the student must be tailored to their educational level and include questions which stretch their understanding to reach their maximum potential. This is because the first few exercises must build their confidence and then that can confidence can be used to introduce and encourage students to attempt more challenging problems.
With my lessons, I adapt the exercises per student depending on their ability because I strongly believe that this is the most effective method of teaching as no two students are the same. As a private tutor, I believe that this is the perfect opportunity for the students to gain the most personalised and therefore most effective lessons. Therefore, I make my lessons highly adaptive to cater to the needs and educational level of the students to enable them to reach their maximum results.
4. The whys and the hows
If the students understand the underpinning concepts behind each method, then I believe that leads to better results. A majority of the times, students are taught each method as a set of instructions. However, I believe that this is not the most effective way of teaching or learning as this does not promote independent problem solving skills and the likelihood of confusion increases if the students were to learn a set of processes per each topic. Therefore, I teach topics by placing emphasis on the objective of the problem and explaining why each step is taken.
I believe that education should be focused on the individual needs, and engage students in the process of their learning. I believe that all students have strengths and acquired knowledge, and the purpose of education is to assist students in identifying and building upon these.
One-on-one tutoring gives the opportunity for the teachings to be catered to the individual style and needs of the student which is not fulfilled to the same extent in school. Therefore, tutoring is the perfect opportunity for the student to reach their maximum potential because unlike in schools, these lessons will be going at a pace that is right for the student. Thus, it gives them the opportunity to master all areas.
For these reasons, my lessons are unique and made with the student in mind to cater to their individual needs and learning styles. This is how I ensure the students reach their maximum potential!
As a current third year Physics with Theoretical Physics student at King's College London, I have an unrivalled experience in both Physics and Mathematics that I can share with you. I have received awards from my university for achieving the highest first year laboratory results and have achieved a First in both my first and second year results. I have had several years of teaching experience in a few different areas. I am currently working at a tutoring centre where I help students develop their skills in a large array of subjects. I have also had professional tutoring experience with MyTutor where I have tutored students for A-Level and GCSE Maths and Physics for over a year, helping students to achieve the grades they require. With MyTutor I provided support to students over a video call, helping them with homework problems and achieving the grades they wanted.
I used to be member of my school's academic mentor team and eventually helped to run and organise the academic mentors. Our role was to provide support to younger students studying for their GCSEs. I would meet up with one or two younger students over lunchtimes and provide support and tuition in Maths, Physics and Chemistry. I partook in the academic mentor team for two years.
Further to this, I was a member of my school's Combined Cadet Forces where I was trained in how to prepare and deliver lessons to younger cadets and was later given the responsibility of training them. My time leading cadets in the CCF taught me how to effectively deliver information to people and the importance of suiting my teaching style to different people. I have also given support to some of my friends with EFL tasks and would often try and explain the mistakes that they may have made. This helped me to learn how to communicate ideas in an effective manner to people who are not entirely fluent in English.
During the lesson I introduce the topic and then I apply it using many questions. I give the student worksheet after every lesson to try and in the next coming lesson we work on it togther.

I am school teacher (since June 2018) who has started practising since 2013. There were more than 300 students during my practising. Because I was studying in MIPT, I worked as a teacher of course "Olympiad Maths" when we prepared kids to competitions of different level. And then I was invited to give the course on 2 Summer International Schools. 90% of my students became students of MIPT and most of them are students of other bests universities of Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Czech Republic. I like to have friendly and "free" chemistry on my lessons. That's why all of my students don't have any complex to make mistake during solving problems. I think it is one of the most important to show everyone has right to make mistake. The most popular question among pupils is "How we can use solving of this problem in everyday life?". The main idea of mine is to show them how easy and practical maths is. I graduated from the University of Surrey in July 2023 with a 2:1 degree in BSc Business Economics. For my first two years, I studies BSc Mathematics and Economics but for my final year, I decided to change my degree to Business Economics since I had more of a passion for Business. I studied Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Economics for my A-Levels and scored ABB respectfully. I scored a grade 9 in GCSE Mathematics (A*) , grade 7 (A) in GCSE English Literature and Language and an A* in GCSE Further Mathematics, scoring 4A*s , 6As and 1B. Mathematics has always been my favourite subject and I also very much enjoy teaching it to other people. I also have a musical background, particularly within playing the piano and keyboard. I am a Grade 8 pianist and I am very close to completion. I am looking to tutor piano or keyboard for people who want to play for pleasure and I am not looking to teach grades or prepare anyone for examinations. My specialty revolves around playing Bollywood and English piano covers.
