My ability to create engaging, supportive, and individualised lessons has been instrumental in inspiring my students to become enthusiastic and fearless learners, drawing on each individual’s unique abilities to build confidence and accomplish their desired goals. In addition to my teaching experience, I am highly proficient in using various educational technologies and online platforms, as well as creating engaging in-person lessons for all age ranges. Having struggled at school during my GCSE’s and also in my first year of A levels, I know how hard it can be for students when they feel like they have no one to turn to, or when there is no help available for them to achieve their goals. Having achieved the grades I did in my GCSE’s and A levels solely through perseverance, I believe myself to be determined, motivated and understanding of the struggles students face. If I cannot answer a question straight away, I will always find a way to figure out the answer using alternative methods/resources. Lesson structure My lesson structure always revolves around the students’ needs and requests. I start off the lesson by going through any key definitions the student needs to know for their exam board, and writing down any key facts that will be vital later on in the lesson. This sets the foundation for the lesson. The main bulk of the lesson is spent going through concepts, subtopics and ideas, and I always make sure to stick to what the exam board requires. I will go through the more complex material in more detail, explaining it starting from the basics and building our way up, to ensure the student fully understands what we are going through and there are no gaps in their knowledge. If the student doesn’t understand something then we will go through it again, starting from the beginning, but I always try and explain the area of difficulty from another angle/perspective, which I have found really helps. At the end of the lesson I always do one or two exam questions with the student to apply the information we have went through in the lesson and to practice exam technique, as I have found this is key to achieving the top marks in the desired subject. I make sure to ask the student if there was anything they didn’t understand and would like to to go through in the next lesson, and I make notes after each lesson so I have a good idea of what we need to go through/practice in more detail.
My availability I am available most afternoons/evenings as well as weekends. I am able to be flexible with my schedule to accommodate the student`s availability, which can be discussed further during our first meeting :) |
