Hello, thank you for taking a careful look at my experience. I've taught for many years, many subjects, and in many countries. I've specifically taught preparation courses for the ACT and SAT, the American university entrance exams. I've also taught Chinese students to prepare for their highly competitive mathematics competitions. I've designed special course work, techniques, IEPs, and materials to meet a student's particular and profound learning disability (his mother said that of all the teachers, I made the most progress). My first tutoree came to me with an "F" in university calculus and I got her up to a "B-". I've taught all English levels and mathematical talents to students from all over Asia, Europe, North America, and South America. I know how to ask questions to reveal misconceptions and how to find evidence of understanding. I understand maths anxiety, how teach the approach to a problem and not just how to get an answer. I've written songs to help students remember the quadratic formula and trigonometric functions of which students have testified that they sang in their head while taking the SAT. I've invented games to develop maths concepts that students couldn't stop playing. I've developed coursework on mathematical psychology and game theory as part of a holistic curriculum which fascinated students. I've had years and years of PDs (Professional Development) from many schools in many countries. I'm familiar with the variety pedagogical philosophies and have more specifically given presentations on Deep Learning, Brain Based Learning, and holistic curricula. I have briefly taught in a Montessori school and am familiar with some of those alternative approaches as well. |
