I have worked internationally teaching students of primary level or age, supporting them in their academic journey.
While I still maintain a teaching role, I have opened The Education House Tuition to support students near and far with their learning.

I am an experienced academic passionate about inspiring individuals to aim high. I have assisted multiple students and early career academics to acheive their goals. I worked in research and teaching roles within UK universities between 2004 and 2024 and am an Advance HE Fellow. My main areas of research and teaching expertise are in sociology and qualitative research methods. I am the author of four books, have published in a range of international peer reviewed journals and have chapters in various other books. I also have significant experience in peer-reviewing for academic journals.
I have taught social sciences, sport & exercise and health-related science students in sociology and history of sport-related modules as well as research methods, study skills and dissertation modules. I have supervised PhD students to completion and have acted as a university mentor providing academic research support and guidance to colleagues employed at various HE institutions. I have experience of designing, marking, and providing feedback on a range of assessments, including exams, essays, reports, proposals, presentations, and dissertations, at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. I have experience of approval events and collaborative provision between universities and FE colleges and have been an external examiner for undergraduate courses and PhD candidates. During my time working as an academic for over 20 years I have gained valuable skills and experience that enabled me to start my own freelance private tutoring, research and higher education consultancy business 'G. Academic' in 2023. I offer private tutoring to university students at all levels as well as training, mentoring and coaching to those new to research. In addition, I offer 'go to university' and 'transitions' talks to year 11, FE college and sixth form students. I am also available for external examining and guest lecturing, including study skills and research methods lectures, seminars or workshops. Moreover, I can provide editing, proof-reading, indexing and reviewing services for all types of academic writing and consultancy services for universities and other organisations regarding all aspects of research, teaching and learning in HE. I also offer specific advice and consultancy on research governance, impact, culture, ethics and integrity.

I have had experience teaching children with SEND needs also so would be able to prepare a bespoke set of sessions for any individual. Following completion of A-Levels in History, English Literature and Health and Social Care, I began my career in education through obtaining a degree in primary education, specialising in the arts and humanities. I have taught children ranging from 4-11 in addition to gaining experience in EAL, SEN and training in BR@P and Prevent. I have further experience as a nursery nurse and a childminders assistant focusing on preparing early years children for school. Throughout this time, I have developed a child-centred approach to teaching by observing the child and tailoring to their individual needs based on personality, learning style and level.
I am a passionate and enthusiastic teacher who has taught in a variety of academic settings across Early Years, Key Stage 1 and 2.
I firmly believe the children are the future and they deserve to be celebrated and receive the best support and guidance from us as educators so they can achieve their full potential.
Adaptability, flexibility and innovation are at the forefront of my lesson planning and teaching style and I have high expectations of both myself as a teacher and how the children apply themselves to their learning.
My teaching style reflects inclusive practice and I have experience teaching a number of SEND and EAL children.

I have been involved in photography as an amateur and professional for over 40 years. I owned and ran a professional chemical-based darkroom in N. Wales from 1984-92. Photoshop is considered the industry standard for photo editing. I would not consider myself a Photoshop “guru” although I’ve been using the programme since version 3. 0 in 1993 - There is always more to learn.
I liked to think I’m meticulous and concise, I always strive to do good work. I’m passionate about photography and the photograph. I enjoy sharing my knowledge and insight. I have done studio, landscape, stll life, events and product photography. In fact, it may be easier to say I cannot take photographs underwater or in space. Everything else I’m OK with.
We run a dedicated Yoga Space, at Earthbeat Centre in Saltburn offering personal tuition and small tailored classes to suit individual needs.
Our classes run throughout the week daytime and evening.
We also offer Holistic Health Therapies, Counselling and Meditation.
