I have been a qualified teacher since 2009 and taught in a variety of state and private schools in Kent, London, and Surrey. I graduated from the University of Cambridge with a 2:1 in Theology and Religious Studies and was awarded my MA in 2010.
I have worked as a private music (violin and piano) teacher since I was in the sixth form, and, since qualifying as a teacher , have tutored Philosophy, English Literature, and Religious Studies to a variety of students internationally (online) and in person (locally).
I have a baby daughter so cannot curretly offer tuition at my house but have lots of availability online outside of school hours or in school holiday time.
I have an excellent record of helping students to improve their understanding (and grades) in Philosophy/RS and English, and of seeing students through to Grade 8 on Piano and Violin, with Distinction.
My A Levels (all A grades) are in: English Literature (I also received a commendation from the exam board for attaining one of the top five scores in the country); Music; RS; Media Studies; General Studies.
I am a life Fellow of the Westminster Abbey Institute.
I have Grade VIII Distinction (ABRSM) on Violin and Piano.
I passed the National Professional Qualification for Senior Leaders in 2018.
My tutoring style is responsive to the needs of my student(s) but expect to be stretched and challenged!
Whether teaching you English, Music, or Philosophy, we will (in the words of Plato from the "Meno", "share the inquiry together")

Design & Technology teacher in Aldershot, UK.
Offering GCSE/A Level support, revision and exam practice.
FREE introductory lesson to assess knowledge and priorities - 45 minutes
My online lessons are usually an hour in length, but I can be adaptable. I have 25 years experience teaching Design and Technology in Secondary schools and a private tutor since March 2023. I support GCSE (Y10/11) and A level Product Design (Y12/13).
Since leaving mainstream teaching five years ago I have worked as a STEM tutor for a charity. My main role is to develop and provide workshops including coding, engineering, electronics and sustainability for all ages. But one task I had was to teach a Year 10 student Design and Technology for a year as his school did not have a DT specialist. This made me realise that I could use my experience to tutor other students privately.

She spends most of her time teaching others how to play the wide range of brass instruments that can be found in orchestras, brass bands and marching bands. For over 30 years she played in the 'Brighton and Hove City Brass' band where she started her musical career. This is not only a profession, but a hobby as well. Sian now plays in a ten piece ensemble 'Brass Fusion' performing with other 'ex bandsmen' on a casual, non-contesting, fun basis.
Although Sian primarily takes brass instrumental lessons, she does regularly run a theory class for all instrumentalists at one of the major schools. She also tries to cover basic theory points within her instrumental lessons as many players, not just brass, do not realise that once they obtain Grade Five practical they cannot move on until they have passed the Grade Five Theory exam. This can take quite a while if players have not covered any theory at all during their lessons. At present Sian has a 100% pass rate on all practical exams that her current students have taken.
Another string to her bow (!) is that she has run several recorder groups at one school as well as temporarily taking Year One music appreciation classes for a term. She also currently runs two brass ensembles at one of the major schools. Sian strives to help pupils obtain their graded examinations but at the same time keeping the playing fun and non pressured. The most important thing to her is that her pupils continue to enjoy playing and for it not to become a chore. To assist with the enjoyment of playing Sian runs a training band for anyone wishing to gain experience in group playing. All the terminology, harmony, sounds etc which are not experienced with individual lessons. The playing of 'non tune' parts where counting and listening are essential.
Sian is also Musical Director of one of the southern England's brass bands, where she regularly appears with them at local fetes, concerts, and garden parties. She is also a committee member for the Incorporated Society of Musicians.

Hello! I'm a music teacher with 5 years of experience and I specialise in harmony/theory, composition, and jazz improvisation. Whether you/ your child is a complete beginner, or you're a professional musician looking to 'add more musical ingredients to the cupboard', or anywhere inbetween, I'd love to hear from you so we can sort out a free taster lesson.
If you are completely new to music, the piano/keyboard (or the drums) is the best place to start. The layout of the keyboard forms the basis for our understanding of harmony and theory, without which, learners of instruments (other than drums) will be at a significant disadvantage.
Things I can help with:
- inspiring young beginners to take up music-making, with a joyful, creative and holistic approach.
- electric bass (bass guitar) lessons, beginner to intermediate
- saxophone lessons, beginner to advanced
- provide a method and structure to beginner/intermediate students looking to take the next step with piano, saxophone, or electric bass
- inspire teens and adults to delve into the world of music with no prior experience
- help intermediate - advanced pianists develop better technique, up to grade 8 level
- provide a comprehensive training in jazz harmony, advanced rhythm, classical composition, songwriting, or improvisation
Things I can't help with:
- Diploma-level classical piano
- Advanced virtuoso electric bass
- Forcing students to learn things they are not interested in
- Forcing students to try to play things they are not yet ready for
- Someone who is looking for the traditional 'strict piano teacher' who doesn't let you choose your own music, punishes you for making mistakes, and has a rigid teaching style that is not adapted to each student

Miss Angelina (as she is known to her pupils) started her ballet training with Molly Wright and Phyllis Adams in Great Yarmouth at the Phyllis Adams School of Dance, where Kenneth Macmillan (Choreographer, Royal Ballet) first started his ballet training. At the age of 6 Angelina gained a place at Merle Park’s School of Ballet (Merle Park was a Director of the Royal Ballet School) in Chiswick.
In 1979, at the age of eight, Angelina was offered a scholarship at the Paris Opera Ballet School. As a petit rat de LOpera (a name give to the young students attending the Opera ballet school) Angelina danced in a number of professional productions including The Sleeping Beauty, choreographed by Rosella Hightower, Le Festin de L’araignee and Movements, choreographed by Claude Bessy, Director of the Paris Opera Ballet School. She also participated in Nureyev’s rehearsals for Romeo and Juliet. Angelina danced for President Mitterand, and one of her most memorable experiences was when she met and danced with Gene Kelly in a tribute to An American in Paris.
When Angelina returned home to England she continued her training at Bush Davies, The Royal Ballet, Upper School TTC and Central School of Ballet.
Angelina danced with the Braunschweig Staatstheater, Germany, and danced in a range of classical and contemporary ballets; she was a member of the corps de ballet and was invited to perform the solo role of Queen of Spades in Jeux de Carte. Repertoire includes Giselle, Nutcracker, Rite of Spring, La Fille Mal Gardee, Bolero and a selection of other classical and contemporary ballets. Angelina first started teaching for Vacani in 1997 and since then has gained a first class honours degree in the Theory and Practice of Dance, and gained Distinctions for both her ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) Imperial and Cecchetti method teaching qualifications. Angelina is currently the ballet director of the Vacani School of Dance in Clapham and Colliers Wood; and Owner/Principal of Canada Water Studios.

Hi,
I'm Alex. I've been teaching for 8 years and am currently employed as an Assistant Headteacher at Salesian College in Farnborough.
My experience includes teaching ages 11-18, being a Head of Physics and tutoring at both GCSE and A Level.
I've also been a GCSE and A Level examiner with Edexcel and AQA, which has really helped me to understand what examiners are looking for to allow students to achieve the top grades. This knowledge comes in really helpful when tutoring and teaching students at all levels.
Just get in touch if you'd like more details, or to arrange an initial consultation about how I can best support your child to meet their full potential.
