Prior to teaching I have worked in life science Reasearch and Development and in Biopharamceutical research, sales and marketing. I also worked a part-time voluntary teaching assistant in primary and seconday schools for 2 years. In 2014 I decided to change career completely to become a science teacher, so I trained at Kings College, graduating with my PGCE in 2015.
My background prior to teaching brings additional experience and skills to my teaching. Chemistry is my specialist subject. I have taught and tutored all sciences successfully to years 7 to 11, and have taught and tutored Chemistry and Biology at A level.
Hello and welcome to Connect Maths Tutor. I am Viviane D. and a qualified Secondary Maths teacher of 14 years. I have considerable experience in supporting students across KS3 and preparing students to sit KS4 Maths GCSE 9-1 specification Higher/foundation.
Having acquired substantial experience of working with a significant range of students and abilities, I understand fully the barriers to learning in Maths. I can therefore advise on areas where common misconceptions occur, showing alternative methods to answer popular topics and advise on exam techniques.
I now tutor one to one with students in order that I can make a real difference to their confidence and performance in Maths. At times this can be difficult to achieve in a classroom environment. My tutoring style is both structured, relaxed and supportive. I will establish early on a student's individual proficiency so that they are educated at an adapted and bespoke level.

I am an award-winning and highly experienced "super" tutor and academic coach with over 15 years of tutoring, teaching and coaching experience, during which period I have made multiple students become university toppers and world prize winners. As for my own qualifications, I have a First Class Honours degree in Aerospace Engineering and a Doctorate in Engineering (Expertise: High-fidelity numerical simulations). MY STORY
I am currently a grade-one “outstanding” teacher in my present school, and have been delivering KS3, GCSE and A Level English, Maths and History in the secondary and sixth-form sectors for the past 16 years, in which time my results have far surpassed national pass rates. Moreover, due to these outstanding results and innovative teaching methods, I have served as Assistant Head of Department; helping us to be awarded an internal grade 1 “outstanding” rating for the 6 years in which I held the post. Furthermore, I also have extensive experience as an “Advanced Practitioner”-tasked with turning around failing cohorts in some of the UK’s toughest classrooms, as well as my time as an examiner for a variety of GCSE/A Level exam boards.
Moreover, due to this long history of being a stand-out professional in the education sector, my advice has been sought out for occasional media and radio appearances for discussions on educational policy, whilst also being head-hunted to tutor the children of prominent public figures including Premiership footballers, Olympic athletes, luminaries of the business world, and even the family of a Nobel Prize winner for a month-which was awesome!
Furthermore, in also being an accomplished property developer with my own UK real-estate portfolio and honorary co-founder of a former property company alongside my partner, I have acted as a business mentor to Year 11 students on entrepreneurship, and how to begin their own journey in property investment, which has seen me guide some of the UK’s brightest new generation of business leaders.
In my remaining spare time, I am currently engaged in the pre-reading for the start of my future PHD in International Relations, during which I will be studying the geopolitics of any superpower conflict over Taiwan. TUTORING EXPERIENCE
I have a broad range of experience turning around struggling students in some of the UK’s toughest classrooms, as well as challenging high achieving learners in the pursuit of academic excellence. In my teaching and tutoring career thus far, I have taught across the curriculum age-ranges (7-18 years), as well as undergraduate and postgraduate level students, and specialise in teaching troubled learners lacking confidence, whilst pushing very bright pupils.
Since I began teaching at my institution, English pass-rates received a 25% upwards leap in the opening two years and my tutoring pass grades in my subjects of English, maths and history have been outstanding, so that the vast majority of my classes/tutees are now passing with strong academic grades, and attaining entry to prestigious preparatory schools and/or universities. During last academic year, my tutees enjoyed superb results in English, Maths, History and the 11+, with 96% reaching their target minimum grade, and 68% exceeding this mark, entering prestigious institutions such as the University of Durham, University of Heidelburg and Bromsgrove School, as well as world-class employers such as Rolls Royce. TUTORING APPROACH
Besides enjoying superb results, my pupils benefit from a relaxed yet challenging atmosphere, with high commitment being expected of them and this has shown to bring both personal and academic growth, which is always pleasing to see. Moreover, in strengthening self-esteem and exciting the minds of my students, to equip them with the skills they need to excel in later life, I seek to provide them with only the finest education possible.
In terms of my lesson delivery, I always strive to be on the cutting-edge of education in use of teaching resources and methods. Therefore, my approach to tutoring makes use of the techniques of “blended learning”, utilising advanced video-conferencing software, modern presentational packages such as Prezi, powerful virtual learning environments and resourced by well-known educational companies, all supported by online platforms provided by GCSE Bitesize, amongst others. This constant innovation was perhaps best illustrated by my recent use of computer games as a learning tool, which led to some of my classes’ GCSE English creative writing being utilised by exam boards as exemplars to share across the UK, in which they were inspired by video games such as Halo and Mass Effect to attain grade 9s.
In light of this dedication to using Smart tech to deliver a first-class education, throughout my teaching career in inner-city schools and sixth-forms, I have become known for never leaving any learner behind, whilst using creative methods in covering the curriculum in an accessible and enjoyable way.

Let me help you. I am a qualified teacher with extensive experience in teaching and comprehensive knowledge of Education. I have completed Two MA and PhD graduate studies in Japan and the UK. I have taught Japanese at a prestigious grammar school in Kent.
With a long-term teaching career, I know how to deliver an effective lesson to improve students’ performance.
In my lesson, you can speak Japanese as much as you want! Because practice is the key to successful learning and a shortcut to becoming a fluent speaker. Even if you have full knowledge, it could be practically pointless when you cannot use it in a real situation.
I deliver pacey, articulate, and intensive lessons with lots of fun elements. I can customise lessons depending on your goal, interest, and level so that the format will vary. In 2024, absolute beginners are very welcome, too!
Absolute beginner course has about 48 lessons /30 minutes (=24 lessons/ hour). I mainly use my handmade presentation slides created for standardised tests based on the grammar school's curriculum. You can gradually increase vocabularies and practise grammar in an organized way. When you complete this course, you will be able to speak, read, write, and listen to basic Japanese.
I am available before 5pm on weekdays, but this does not always apply to every student. So, please contact me to find out the detail.
Your first lesson is about 20 minutes, which is set for getting to know each other.

My name is José María de Lucas Sacristán, though most know me as Chema Sacristán. I've been a professional drummer since 2004. I'd like to share a brief biography of my career in the U.K. In 2002, at 19, I realized my love for music and moved to Bristol, U.K., where I lived for four years. Bristol exposed me to all sorts of music, including rock, jazz, world music, and more. I played my first shows and worked with over five different local bands, gaining valuable experience. In 2006, I moved to London to study at Tech Music Schools, known as "Drum Tech," where I completed my higher education and earned a BMUS in Popular Music Performance (Hons), licensed by West London University. After completing my degree in 2011, I worked exclusively as a performing drummer and drum teacher, giving private lessons in my own studio, Oktopus Music Services, in North West London. In the past nine years, I've had the privilege of performing, recording, and writing with some of the best musicians in the London and U.K. scene, such as Kevin Glasgow (one of Europe's best bassists), Robin Banerjee (Amy Winehouse's guitarist), Roberto Manzin (Zucchero), Felipe Martíns (Emeterians), Juan Whist (The Voice National Spanish TV), and many others. I've showcased in most of London's live music venues and with the best U.K. and European entertainment agencies, such as Scarlett Entertainment, Full Stop Entertainment, and more. After 20 years of professional experience, I've decided to focus fully on teaching drums and performing. I am an experienced teacher of history with over ten years of experience teaching in a range of secondary schools across the UK including grammar, independent and state schools. Tom taught a lesson on quadratic sequences. He started by establishing the student’s confidence on the subject and then shared his screen to display a well prepared series of whiteboard slides. The student was asked to identify the relationship between a series of numbers leading to establishing the nth term. These initial sequences provided the base for the future slides, which contained further, more complex sequences for the student to solve. At each stage, Tom encouraged the student to break down the workings to ensure errors were avoided – he then annotated the whiteboard accordingly. Tom’s manner was easy going and relaxed. The student was actively involved throughout and, to quote Tom ‘did most of the work’ is a very positive way. This allowed for Tom to constantly assess and pitch to the level required. Tom was able to self assess well and commented that, if he were to the lesson again, he would have included more simple questions to start to build up confidence before going on to more complex sequences. Overall a really positive lesson, with a personable and approachable tutor.
