Hello and welcome to Mr S. Maths!
I teach solely GCSE Maths. I've been teaching and tutoring Maths now for 10 years!
I own Mr S. Maths and I have a unique way I love to teach and tutor. Here's how it works
Step #1] Pre lesson videos. I record prelesson videos the prepare the students for the lesson. This is to get them up to the standard of our live lesson
Step #2] Weekly live lessons. I teach weekly live classes. I have lessons for foundation, for higher (grades 567) and for higher (grades 789). Each class focuses on a topic of the week going over as many exam questions as we can fit in!
Step #3] Weekly test. You will attempt a 10 mark test following the lesson.
Step #4] You will watch the video walkthrough of the test. This will allow you to mark and correct any mistakes
Step #5] You will log your scores to your personal log (that I provide) and this will now become your revision guide!

I have a long and diverse history of teaching and tutoring, spanning various levels and subjects. I have cultivated a deep passion for education and student development. My journey began at the age of 19 when I started private tutoring GCSE subjects (math, physics, chemistry, biology). This continued into my undergraduate engineering studies, where I expanded my tutoring repertoire to include A-level subjects (math, physics, chemistry, English).
Upon graduating, I joined a government organisation in Bangladesh as an engineer. In this role, I was responsible for training programs in automotive and machine tools for engineering apprentices. My move to the UK in 2004 marked a new chapter, where I supported myself through my MSc studies by tutoring GCSE and A-level students in math, physics, and chemistry.
Throughout my professional career in the industry as an engineer, I designed and delivered training programs for apprentices and engineers, covering a broad spectrum of engineering subjects. These included engineering software (CAD, CAM, CAE), engineering math, quality control, lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and ERP (enterprise resource planning) software. Concurrently, I continued private tutoring GCSE & A-level students (math, physics, chemistry) and undergraduate students (engineering math, engineering mechanics, fundamentals of mechanical engineering).
During my PhD studies (2016-2020) at the University of Nottingham, I served as a teaching assistant and demonstrator, teaching engineering design and CAD to undergraduates. Following this, my role at Heriot-Watt University (2021-2022) as a Research Associate in Robotics included tutoring and guest lecturing in undergraduate modules such as Introduction to Robotics and Digital Design & Programming.
Currently, I am working as an engineering lecturer. I teach a variety of electro-mechanical BEng modules, including engineering math, smart manufacturing, project management, engineering design, mechanical engineering systems, and renewable energy. Additionally, I supervise and coordinate final-year research projects.
Feedback from three key sources—students, colleagues, and management-led teaching observations—consistently highlights my effectiveness and dedication as a student-centred educator. I am committed to fostering student learning through not only high-quality teaching but also through unwavering support and mentorship. My goal is to inspire and equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their academic and professional endeavours.

During last more than 10 years I have first hand teaching experience in the University in the UK and Canada. I have PhD in Aerospace engineering and had worked before at Pratt and Whitney Canada which is an aircraft engine manufacturer. Also, I have strong experience on online tutoring on engineering subjects, physics and maths. I can confidently explain mathematical and scientific principles and concepts using diagram and formula on digital white boards. I was also qualified by the Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education Teaching (PGCE). And, I am a Chartered Engineer (CEng) as a member of Institution of Mechanical Engineer (IMechE) in the UK. I have been teaching Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Dynamics, Heat Transfer in undergraduate degree program as well as Physics, Maths and Enigineering Science in Foundation program. Thus, I have both teaching experience as well as practical experience. From my strong experience I am confident on my teaching approach and able to understand well various students thoughts and needs.

I believe I have a strong educational background. I received 75% first class for biomedical sciences in UCL. I have good organisation skills: I always plan and prepare resources to provide the best learning experience for the students. I try to be friendly, patient and become an active listener. Also, I am usually very interactive with students to build their problem-solving skills. I can personalise the teaching style to fit each student’s different learning style and pace of learning. I have tutored students (age 6-18) for 5 years for mainly maths, sciences and piano but I have tutored English before up to GCSE level. I have also helped A level students with their university admission for medicine/science courses + Oxbridge. I did remote teaching during the Covid pandemic thus I am comfortable and knowledgeable at using online platforms and I usually tutor with an iPad as well. I like taking new challenges. I always enjoyed taking new roles during study (such as Course Rep and student quality reviewer) and learning new skills (such as how to use photoshop, procreate and solidworks). Hence I believe I would take on the challenge well with my hardworking and positive attitude. I am also available immediately thus able to start the lesson as soon as possible.

I have over four years of experience tutoring both online and face-to-face. During this time, I have taught piano to children as young as three and worked intensively on exam preparation, including English tests and the ISEE, often with only three months’ notice. I am a university trained Maths teacher, who has worked in many local Derby schools. I am currently working at Derby College teaching A-level and Core Maths 3 days a week. I have tutored several GCSE students, who have achieved a passing grade. I am available for lessons throughout the day on a Wednesday and Friday during term time. Tutoring online would be best for me, but I am able to travel up to 5 miles if this is not possible.

I am a polite, patient and friendly DBS-certified University lecturer, with a passion for teaching. I also offer Online Tuition; however, I highly recommend having lessons face-to-face (once we are out of lockdown). In the interest of maintaining high-quality tuition, I much prefer to not have every lesson online, but instead using my online services as a method of continuity. I believe (and have witnessed!) that everybody learns differently, and effective teaching comes from incorporating these differences; so, I will provide an environment for learning that is completely malleable to my tutees` needs. Fundamentally though, mathematics requires both an understanding of a topic and sufficient practice, so each session will split the time between these two. I encourage my tutees to steer each session towards their needs (and interests) - for example, particular difficulties with one topic or more detailed explanations and applications of another - which will not only ensure that they maximise the efficiency of their learning but also will build their own confidence in their abilities.

I have 5 years of tutoring experience in different countries and places.
