About my lessons:
To begin I like to dive into my students strengths and weakness in the subject area to gain a better idea of how to cater my lessons in a way that would best benefit my students time .I then personalise lessons around my students to hit specific target areas, looking at how to meet exam board objectives, going over how to structure answers to meet top band and then doing practice exam questions. I also implement active recall each week to continually reinforce my student memory and go back over past material .Practice exam questions and active recall have been proved to be one of the most effective ways to retain information and are key in achieving higher grades. And to end each session off I give a student a small, manageable task to complete before our next session to further consolidate their understanding.

I tutor because I want to teach students what they can achieve with the power of English and to share my love for the subject with them, as well as helping someone to achieve to their higher potential.

I am currently studying psychology at University of Birmingham; I will graduate summer 2025. I also volunteer as a Peer Assisted Study Session (PASS) leader every week at university. This entails helping first year students with psychology coursework. I have enjoyed this role thoroughly as it’s rewarding to provide students with extra support and participate in teaching a subject I find interesting.
Alongside university, I work part time as a teaching assistant in an array of SEN schools in the West Midlands. I have a lot of experience with children with Autism, ADHD and ASD, as well as working with children with a range of more complex needs. As well as supporting classwork, I often resolve disputes in the classroom by listening to the students’ needs and aid in coming to a solution with them. My current teaching job made me realise I have a passion for working with students of all ages and capabilities. Therefore, I am intending to apply for a teaching degree once I have completed my Bachelor’s. I have found the best way to build an effective student-teacher relationship is by being able to create an enjoyable learning atmosphere.
