Hello and welcome to Mr S. Maths!
I teach solely GCSE Maths. I've been teaching and tutoring Maths now for 10 years!
I own Mr S. Maths and I have a unique way I love to teach and tutor. Here's how it works
Step #1] Pre lesson videos. I record prelesson videos the prepare the students for the lesson. This is to get them up to the standard of our live lesson
Step #2] Weekly live lessons. I teach weekly live classes. I have lessons for foundation, for higher (grades 567) and for higher (grades 789). Each class focuses on a topic of the week going over as many exam questions as we can fit in!
Step #3] Weekly test. You will attempt a 10 mark test following the lesson.
Step #4] You will watch the video walkthrough of the test. This will allow you to mark and correct any mistakes
Step #5] You will log your scores to your personal log (that I provide) and this will now become your revision guide!
I have a long and diverse history of teaching and tutoring, spanning various levels and subjects. I have cultivated a deep passion for education and student development. My journey began at the age of 19 when I started private tutoring GCSE subjects (math, physics, chemistry, biology). This continued into my undergraduate engineering studies, where I expanded my tutoring repertoire to include A-level subjects (math, physics, chemistry, English).
Upon graduating, I joined a government organisation in Bangladesh as an engineer. In this role, I was responsible for training programs in automotive and machine tools for engineering apprentices. My move to the UK in 2004 marked a new chapter, where I supported myself through my MSc studies by tutoring GCSE and A-level students in math, physics, and chemistry.
Throughout my professional career in the industry as an engineer, I designed and delivered training programs for apprentices and engineers, covering a broad spectrum of engineering subjects. These included engineering software (CAD, CAM, CAE), engineering math, quality control, lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and ERP (enterprise resource planning) software. Concurrently, I continued private tutoring GCSE & A-level students (math, physics, chemistry) and undergraduate students (engineering math, engineering mechanics, fundamentals of mechanical engineering).
During my PhD studies (2016-2020) at the University of Nottingham, I served as a teaching assistant and demonstrator, teaching engineering design and CAD to undergraduates. Following this, my role at Heriot-Watt University (2021-2022) as a Research Associate in Robotics included tutoring and guest lecturing in undergraduate modules such as Introduction to Robotics and Digital Design & Programming.
Currently, I am working as an engineering lecturer. I teach a variety of electro-mechanical BEng modules, including engineering math, smart manufacturing, project management, engineering design, mechanical engineering systems, and renewable energy. Additionally, I supervise and coordinate final-year research projects.
Feedback from three key sources—students, colleagues, and management-led teaching observations—consistently highlights my effectiveness and dedication as a student-centred educator. I am committed to fostering student learning through not only high-quality teaching but also through unwavering support and mentorship. My goal is to inspire and equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their academic and professional endeavours.
During last more than 10 years I have first hand teaching experience in the University in the UK and Canada. I have PhD in Aerospace engineering and had worked before at Pratt and Whitney Canada which is an aircraft engine manufacturer. Also, I have strong experience on online tutoring on engineering subjects, physics and maths. I can confidently explain mathematical and scientific principles and concepts using diagram and formula on digital white boards. I was also qualified by the Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education Teaching (PGCE). And, I am a Chartered Engineer (CEng) as a member of Institution of Mechanical Engineer (IMechE) in the UK. I have been teaching Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Dynamics, Heat Transfer in undergraduate degree program as well as Physics, Maths and Enigineering Science in Foundation program. Thus, I have both teaching experience as well as practical experience. From my strong experience I am confident on my teaching approach and able to understand well various students thoughts and needs.

I specialise in working with students on a 1-on-1 basis, easing and tackling individual areas of difficulty at their appropriate pace – something that can be difficult to receive in the standard school environment. My teaching approach is adaptive upon students’ own learning attitude, thus, presenting resources in various ways. It is focused on fostering a comprehensive understanding of the fundamentals of a topic, before applying that knowledge to solving questionnaires. I also specially aid with exam preparation to share my own unique methods of working and exam techniques/tips. Ultimately, I aim to develop one’s self-esteem and perseverance to fulfil their own aspirations.
I have taught a wide age group from 5 to 24, which my past tutor sessions were based on creativity of my hobbies such as art, which always worked absolutely well since when I was a GCSE student.
I have many experiences working with children, especially with spending my work experience as an assistant in a primary school class, I was able to interact and deal with various situations to keep the children calm, focused and motivated. As a school tutor, I utilised my organisational skills to collect resources and investigated various methods of teaching to find the most efficient way to deliver difficult contents, suiting the students’ own learning attitude appropriately. I evolved my communication competency whilst discovering the students’ difficulty and preferred revision methods, also.
I am someone who has academically succeeded highly through UK national curriculum. I have passion towards mathematics thus, I have participated and have been awarded many times for UKMT, and moreover, for Chemistry and Physics Olympiad challenges as Gold and Bronze respectively. I held responsibility as a School Ambassador and School tutoring, volunteered to be a Reader Leader who helps those who struggle reading and understanding the story with success. I aid in writing model answers for GCSE & A-Level exam questions as well. Not only am I self-disciplined and persevered but I enjoy hobbies that are based on creativity: DIY craft and art, piano, dancing, sport, ballet, balancing my work and leisure. I am also fluent in English and relatively fluent in Korean with a basic level of French language. My experiences in life, living in various different countries allowed me to interact and adapt into many different societies, overcoming many barriers. I believe I have a strong educational background. I received 75% first class for biomedical sciences in UCL. I have received 8A*, 3As and B for my GCSE and I got an A for physics and I graduated with A*A*A* for Maths, Chemistry and biology for A level. I have good organisation skills: I always plan and prepare resources to provide the best learning experience for the students. I try to be friendly, patient and become an active listener. Also, I am usually very interactive with students to build their problem-solving skills. I can personalise the teaching style to fit each student’s different learning style and pace of learning. I have tutored students (age 6-18) for 5 years for mainly maths, sciences and piano but I have tutored English before up to GCSE level. I have also helped A level students with their university admission for medicine/science courses + Oxbridge. I did remote teaching during the Covid pandemic thus I am comfortable and knowledgeable at using online platforms and I usually tutor with an iPad as well. I like taking new challenges. I am a university trained Maths teacher, who has worked in many local Derby schools. I am currently working at Derby College teaching A-level and Core Maths 3 days a week. I have tutored several GCSE students, who have achieved a passing grade. I am available for lessons throughout the day on a Wednesday and Friday during term time. Tutoring online would be best for me, but I am able to travel up to 5 miles if this is not possible.

I am a polite, patient and friendly DBS-certified University lecturer, with a passion for teaching. Being lecturer means I not only have all the academic understanding and knowledge required to be a fantastic and thorough tutor, but I can also sympathise with my tutees about the quirks and difficulties of educational mathematics and tailor the experience to make sure they reach their full potential. I will also motivate my tutees in their study of mathematics and demonstrate how it is both a beautiful subject in its own right and an invaluable tool in the real world. The courses I offer tuition in are: - A-Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics. Outside of my teaching, I enjoy cycling, playing badminton and cooking. In addition to providing tuition in Loughborough, I offer home tutoring in areas within 5 miles of Loughborough (at a marginally higher cost). I also offer Online Tuition; however, I highly recommend having lessons face-to-face (once we are out of lockdown). In the interest of maintaining high-quality tuition, I much prefer to not have every lesson online, but instead using my online services as a method of continuity. I believe (and have witnessed!) that everybody learns differently, and effective teaching comes from incorporating these differences; so, I will provide an environment for learning that is completely malleable to my tutees` needs. Fundamentally though, mathematics requires both an understanding of a topic and sufficient practice, so each session will split the time between these two. I encourage my tutees to steer each session towards their needs (and interests) - for example, particular difficulties with one topic or more detailed explanations and applications of another - which will not only ensure that they maximise the efficiency of their learning but also will build their own confidence in their abilities.

I am a qualified science and maths teacher who has taught and tutored GCSE science for the past 4 years. Over that time I have helped students achieve over their target grades all the way up to grade 9s on their triple science awards.
Experienced as a tutor with various age groups. Have worked with as young as Year 5 and as old as Yr 11. Now that I am studying my Economics and Finance degree at Loughborough University, I'm hoping to extend my teaching skills to A level students as well. As the tutor, I will make sure to plan every tutor session prior to the event in order to not waste any time and in return, I expect my students to complete any homework I set for them as the homework will always be based off whatever was covered in the lesson in order to strengthen their skills.
