My name is Anisa and I'm a Mathematics undergraduate student at Durham University. Once an intimidated student who grimaced at the subject, I've learnt ways to approach mathematics that allow me to appreciate the logic behind it. Maths doesn't have to be the 'difficult subject' and I'm here to show you and your child that.
My journey in tutoring mathematics has been nothing short of diverse. As someone who wants to share the joy from problem solving and who relishes in seeing their students thrive, there has never been a point in my life where I haven't been involved in tutoring of some form. From the age of 16, through volunteering opportunities and work, I’ve tutored in all sorts of environments - from after school classes and targeted group work to online one-to-one tutoring. My plethora of experience can be viewed in my CV which you can request to see.
My teaching style centres around seamless integration between the classroom and tuition. A core belief of mine is that tutoring can only be as effective as it's organisation, so I go the extra mile to understand what is missing in students' education through communication with their Maths teachers. This has been a tried and proven fact and it guarantees that what students learn outside of school hours perfectly aligns with classroom teaching, which boosts progress by up to 5 months! Furthermore, I love to involve themes of encouragement and independent thinking by carefully crafting questions that allow students to arrive at their own conclusions; this preserves the learning of concepts to ensure they are well consolidated rather than memorised and repeated.
For your child to get a feel for my teaching style, please do book a trial session. Let’s get stuck in and see your child soar through school!

I am a passionate and enthusiastic teacher who has taught in a variety of academic settings across Early Years, Key Stage 1 and 2.
I firmly believe the children are the future and they deserve to be celebrated and receive the best support and guidance from us as educators so they can achieve their full potential.
Adaptability, flexibility and innovation are at the forefront of my lesson planning and teaching style and I have high expectations of both myself as a teacher and how the children apply themselves to their learning.
My teaching style reflects inclusive practice and I have experience teaching a number of SEND and EAL children.
I always strive to do my best for the children and I am a strong advocate for their overall wellbeing. My classroom, whether online or in person, provides a safe and positive environment which nurtures progress and allows the children to develop academically, socially and emotionally while also providing appropriate challenges.

If you are looking for someone who is dedicated to helping every child succeed in whatever they aim to achieve then look no further. I am passionate about helping children learn and am highly qualified to teach children up to GCSE level. I have had experience teaching children with SEND needs also so would be able to prepare a bespoke set of sessions for any individual. I ask any pupil who is looking for tutoring to to complete a short baseline test to give an accurate current picture of where they are starting from. A meeting with parents to negotiate timescale and to establish end goals is essential. I am able to come to a home if this is where the pupil may feel most comfortable or I am currently preparing a fresh space for learning at my residence which is due to be completed mid February. For more information, please contact me. I look forward to hearing from you! Mrs H M.

Following completion of A-Levels in History, English Literature and Health and Social Care, I began my career in education through obtaining a degree in primary education, specialising in the arts and humanities. I have taught children ranging from 4-11 in addition to gaining experience in EAL, SEN and training in BR@P and Prevent. I have further experience as a nursery nurse and a childminders assistant focusing on preparing early years children for school. Throughout this time, I have developed a child-centred approach to teaching by observing the child and tailoring to their individual needs based on personality, learning style and level.

I am a dedicated, hardworking and enthusiastic individual who has experience across the entire primary age range from Year 1 up to Year 6. I also have experience with 1:1 support for behavioural and emotional issues. I am currently a Year 4 Classroom teacher. Throughout my time at my current school, I have proven to be a valuable member of the team who brought a passion and infectious positive attitude that has contributed to creating a warm school atmosphere.
During my time at my current school, I have been able to work independently and as part of a team to create a balanced and broad curriculum that matches the needs of the children in my class. I have been able to capture the interest and attention of the children through a wide variety of texts that have been carefully selected to ensure there is a range of themes and conventions covered including “family and friendships”, “Social and Racial issues” “key historical events such as the Anglo-Saxons and the www.*** ; Throughout our reading journey in Year 4, the children have shown their interest in each text through the emotion in their voices when answering questions and making predictions, the work they have produced and how they ask me as their class teacher to keep reading and not close the book.
Furthermore, I have been able to teach effective units of writing that have been carefully sequenced and planned to ensure that the children have all of the skills they need to write an effective end of unit independent piece of writing. Throughout each unit, I am also able to adapt the sequence of lessons as the unit progresses to ensure that the children are fully confident in the grammar, structure and organisational features of the text before they write independently. To ensure that there is a wide coverage across the curriculum the children are exposed to a wide variety of writing types including: descriptions, poetry, story writing, letters and instructions. Each of these pieces of writing have started with a hook to capture the interest and curiosity of each child in the class.
I have also been able to plan alongside schemes that are in school and been able to plan a Maths curriculum independently for different year groups. At my current school, I have been able to work alongside the Power Maths and White Rose scheme. Through these schemes I have also been able to use my teacher's judgement and assessment for learning techniques to adapt and add to the schemes to ensure that each child is fully “fluent” in any given topic before moving onto problem solving and reasoning questions. Here it is important that the children have the necessary mathematical skills to challenge these problems but also have the ability to break problem questions down especially those that are “two steps and three www.*** ;
I have also been able to quickly build up professional relationships with both staff and parents. I strive to ensure that I work as an effective team member and continue to contribute exciting and fresh ideas to create a broad and engaging curriculum for all.
Previous to this I have worked in a number of different schools with a variety of backgrounds during my time on supply. An example of this would be teaching on a long term placement through supply placement. I was teaching in a mixed Y4/5 class at a school in Middlesbrough. The class was 100% EAL with a high proportion of SEN needs. Although it was a Y4/5 class, they were only working at aY1/2 level. Through the placement I have been able to demonstrate effective behaviour management strategies due to the fact that it was impossible to stick to one strategy. This required me to constantly adapt my strategies to the needs of the class on a regular basis. Furthermore, through quality first teaching, exciting and engaging lessons and an excellent understanding of each of the children’s needs I was able to make accelerated progress and work towards closing the gap from their KS1 trajectory to where they should be in terms of age related expectations. During my time at the school I was also able to work with a variety of external agencies in order to aid the provision of the children and ensure that each of their needs was being met.
I am looking to take the wider variety of skills that I have obtained and the experience that I have gained from a wide variety of schools and year groups to contribute to outside teaching projects.

Hello and welcome to my TutorExtra profile. I'm Emma, an experienced Primary School teacher with a specialism in Early Years. I am described as caring, nurturing and welcoming teacher and individual.
I have taught in mainstream primary schools for nearly 10 years and prior to this, I was a Nursery Nurse for a near by council, working for SureStart with children aged birth to five. Within in the Primary School sector, I have worked with all Key Stages but my preference and comfort zone lies within EYFS and KS1. I am an Early Years Lead teacher, which means I'm responsible for the Early Years department within my school and I also lead the phonics and early reading curriculum throughout school too. I am a believer in hands-on learning; using resources wherever possible to support the children's understanding, to deepen concepts and most of all have fun is something I'm passionate about.
Please get in touch if you'd like to find out more!
I look forward to hearing from you

I have been teaching for the past 18 years. I have worked in primary schools across County Durham and have considerable experience in teaching across all the primary phases. I have lots of experience teaching pupils with autism, adhd, dyslexia, dyscalculia and emotional and behavioural problems. My approach is that learning should be fun, creative but also providing the essential skills all children need to make good progress. I am adept at planning sessions that cover the national curriculum requirements , but at the same time making sure I meet the child where they are in their journey of learning. I have a caring, nurturing approach but set high standards of achievement with all my pupils.

I graduated with a first in Primary Education (with QTS and a specialisation in Mathematics) in 2017. Whilst I spent most of my childhood in Germany, I have dual nationality and grew up bilingual speaking both German and English at home.
I started teaching and supporting others in subjects that interest me when I was a teenager. Aged 15-17 I mainly gave English tuition to the (German equivalent of) GCSE students and below, with an occasional Maths lesson in the mix. I then moved to England to complete my A-levels, where I was promptly employed by school to teach German language practice. I ended up teaching all the pupils doing AS and A level German in small groups in preparation for their various oral exams.
As I enjoyed teaching, I decided to pursue a career as a teacher (after taking a gap year of running the stable management in a small, family based tourism business in Spain).
During university I had 3 long term and many short term placements in different types of schools. My favourite by far was in a PRU (pupil referral unit), where I got to work in a small class with children often working years behind what the national curriculum requires. It’s here that I realised how much more I enjoy teaching one on one or small groups than whole class settings, as they allow me to get to know the individuals’ needs and abilities better.
Most of my placements concluded with the feedback that I am outstanding at supporting and stretching students with intervention sessions. I love to challenge people (young and old) to give their best. It’s amazing what difference a little bit of patience and support can make when tailored to individual needs. This experience in particular is what has driven me to start private tutoring again, which I have been doing as my main occupation for the last year.
