I'm a tutor whose goal is to make your least favourite subject your strongest subject. Although you might still dislike it, rest assured, you will be good at it!

We have dedicated staff who are well experienced and trained to teach various year groups. In SLASA, we have a warm and friendly atmosphere to encourage children to learn in a safe environment. All of our courses are personalised to meet the National Curriculum and Curriculum for Excellence.
We pride ourselves with teaching children the most efficient ways of learning and boosting their confidence in their school work. We tailor our teachers according to their subject specialism so that they can teach our students with the best knowledge possible. We have previously helped children with entrance exams into Nottingham High School and other private schools within Nottinghamshire as well as help with SATS, GCSEs and A levels. Our dedicated help has proven to help children with low self-esteem and learning difficulties around other children in order to improve their confidence as a young person. We have many locations all over Nottingham providing home tuition, grouped learning and 1 to 1 sessions according to your needs.

Currently, I am working in a local secondary school teaching Mathematics up to GCSE level. I have been teaching there for over 5 years. Within these 5 years, I have also worked within the pastoral team.
I also have experience of teaching GCSE Business Studies. My degree is in Business Management, so I do have the knowledge to teach up to KS5 in this particular subject.
In previous schools, I have worked with small and large class sizes, specifically to ensure that they achieve a Grade 4/5 in their GCSE subject. I also have experience of working with pupils with SEMH and SEN.
I have been tutoring for over two decades outside my day job as an Actuary.
In A level Mathematics I got the highest mark in the England and Wales (100%) so know what it takes to reach the top.
However, I don't just focus on those with an aptitude for mathematics but also those who are struggling and want to reach next level. I helped SEN students as well as those who wish to get ahead of their peers.
I have helped adults get into higher education as well as a young year 4 maths prodigy excel through to year 8 maths work.
Online or in-person both work with the latter being my preference. I live in Leicester LE3 but can drive to you if reasonable. I cover all Key Stages up to and including GCSE.

I believe I have a strong educational background. I received 75% first class for biomedical sciences in UCL. I have received 8A*, 3As and B for my GCSE and I got an A for physics and I graduated with A*A*A* for Maths, Chemistry and biology for A level. Throughout my secondary school, I have been nominated several times as the top in the year for several subjects like Maths, Chemistry and Physics. I have also contributed to Maths and Biology Olympiad achieving silver for both. I have good organisation skills: I always plan and prepare resources to provide the best learning experience for the students. I try to be friendly, patient and become an active listener. Also, I am usually very interactive with students to build their problem-solving skills. I can personalise the teaching style to fit each student’s different learning style and pace of learning. I have tutored students (age 6-18) for 5 years for mainly maths, sciences and piano but I have tutored English before up to GCSE level. I have also helped A level students with their university admission for medicine/science courses + Oxbridge. I did remote teaching during the Covid pandemic thus I am comfortable and knowledgeable at using online platforms and I usually tutor with an iPad as well. I like taking new challenges. I always enjoyed taking new roles during study (such as Course Rep and student quality reviewer) and learning new skills (such as how to use photoshop, procreate and solidworks). Hence I believe I would take on the challenge well with my hardworking and positive attitude. I am also available immediately thus able to start the lesson as soon as possible.

I have experience of both phonics assessment and SATS experience. The bulk of my career has been teaching in London schools and more recently I have taught in schools in Leicestershire, Derby and Nottingham. In all schools I have worked in, my lessons have been judged ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’.
It has been a valuable teaching experience which has certainly shaped my professional outlook and provided me with a rich insight into what you can achieve with children. This has allowed me to to develop into a passionate, enthusiastic and dedicated teacher. I am able to plan, assess, reflect and adapt my teaching to ensure that all children have a challenging and enjoyable experience and make excellent progress.
Lesson observations of my teaching have highlight how children are enthusiastic, engaged, eager to learn and are confident when attempting tasks. Tasks are differentiated for all abilities and especially the higher ability who need to be stretched continually. I encourage children to become independent by trying their best, keep trying and never give up. I have found children to have become resilient and not afraid of tackling new concepts or new challenges.

I have a passion for Biology in particular, but am also skilled at Mathematics and Chemsitry; I achieved A*s in all of these at A level and have gone on to study a science-based degree at University. As mentioned above, I am a student at the University of Nottingham medical school. During medical school, I have developed a skill of being able to explain complex concepts in a way easier to understand, and I think this sets me apart from other tutors.
I am also a linguist, as I did both French and Mandarin Chinese for GCSE( achieveing level 9 in both)- I am able to tutor beginner level in these subjects. I have had experience leading children on summer camps for multiple years, babysitting and am keen to use these skills in my tutoring. I have a valid DBS check that I am happy to provide on request. In my spare time, I like to play piano ( which I am also accomplished in with an ARSM performance diploma) and ice skate with the university society.
