I am an experienced, fully qualified Special Educational Needs (SEN) teacher. I care very much about enabling children and young people to reach their full potential despite barriers to learning. Barriers to learning can arise for many different reasons including specific learning difficulties , difficulties with concentration and focus, diagnoses such has ADHD and ASD and emotional and mental health needs such as anxiety. I have experience of how education can sometimes stop working for a child and of the potentially massive impacts of this. My aim is to offer an affordable tutoring service to families who face these challenges. I have set up this business in memory of my late father from whom I learnt so much about the value of education. My primary specializaton is helping children gain entrance to their preferred secondary school by tutoring and supporting them to pass the entrance exams. I also tutor mathematics and English for ages 7-13, which is in high demand at the moment due to gaps in knowledge caused by the Covid pandemic. I speak Spanish to C1 level.
I spent 6 years working in all age groups in primary school as well as 5 years working with adults teaching English as a second language. I have had much success teaching mathematics, English, eleven plus and secondary school entrance exams to children aged 7-13. I have a high pass rate aiding children to pass their 11 plus exam.

I offer one, one and a half, and two-hour lessons, using questioning techniques to encourage deeper thinking and help students achieve top grades in English. My experience includes teaching a wide range of texts such as Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, Much Ado About Nothing, The Sign of the Four, A Christmas Carol, An Inspector Calls, and poetry from the Power and Conflict and Love and Relationships anthologies.
