I am currently a Medical student at Keele and a graduate from the University of Salford, achieving a 1st in my degree in Human Biology and Infectious Disease. Achieving the highest mark within my university. I was responsible for a programme known as GEMMS which is for supporting students in their medicine/dentistry applications, assisting them in interview technique and for the entrance exams.
I have mentored and tutored for 5+ years, helping students to achieve grade 9 in maths. I currently tutor Mathematics, physics, biology and chemistry for A-levels and below.
I am a fun person who particular loves his sports. Seeing the improvement and progress a child can make in a short amount of time is always the best feeling and I strive to help you achieve your goals and beyond. Sometimes having that 1 to 1 session can make all the difference in clearing up any worries about a topic.
I begin my classes by asking the student what they want to learn or discuss during the session. If they have a doubt in a concept, I will ask them to explain the same concept to me in their own words and correct them wherever necessary. I will provide some good methods to study or approach that topic. I will conclude the lesson by asking them if there is anything they would like to discuss in our next session so that I could prepare some questions in advance. I will also regularly be assessing your improvement through the use of practice papers to get an idea of where the student is at and how they can further improve. I am an experienced Finance Director and Chartered Certified Accountant with an MBA from Durham University. Durham being ranked 3rd in the UK, 5th in Europe and 10th globally.
My strengths in addition to my extensive career experience and academic accreditations, is that I am skilled at explaining complex accounting, finance and economic concepts in an easy to understand, practical way to finance and non-finance people alike.
The first 1-hour session is free. We would use this session to get to know each other (both you and/or your child) and to understand specific areas where support is needed. I will draw up a study plan to lead up to revision, mocks and final exams, as required, to be shared and agreed with you before we start the fee-paying session. This will ensure maximum benefit from the lessons.
Additional one-off lessons are available on request, as are bespoke laminated memory flash cards and mind maps for that last minute or on the go revision refresher. Additional lessons may for example include revision support or elements of a subject that "you just can’t get". For an additional fee, I also offer an out of hours telephone support service, for the early morning, late night revision when you just need to pick up the phone and ask a question.
With my extensive practical experience in the field of accounting, finance and economics, I will get you or your child over the mental blockers and inspire confidence in exam success with the application real life examples to theory. My teaching technique will embed subject elements into memory for recollection in an exam setting and beyond. I have some excellent revision techniques, invaluable for the run up to the exams I would be delighted to share.
To me, every pupil is individual, and my approach is to take a bespoke approach to those individual needs.

I am currently working at North West Training Council delivering BTEC level 3 and HNC Level 4 Business Subjects also functional skills at level 2 to students on various engineering and construction diplomas and apprenticeships. I am responsible for the delivery of functional skills to students within the College and it is my role to ensure that each student achieves their framework requirements in a timely manner. I carry out initial and diagnostic assessments on all students entering the college, to ascertain their current level of maths and English. This allows me to develop a plan for those who need more support or who need to achieve their required level. Many learners, have underachieved at school, or have low levels of confidence relating to learning and achievement. Through my approaches, I have been able to increase their motivation and confidence levels towards achieving their goals.
In May 2014 I was offered the role of Advance Skills Practitioner. I was very pleased to accept this role and used my experiences to advise other members of the teaching staff on how to improve their delivery and raise the learning experience for the students. During an OFSTED visit in April 2015, NWTC received a Grade 2 (Good) across all areas. This was up from a position in 2013 of Grade 4. The organisation went through another OFSTED visit in August 2018 and maintained its Grade 2 status. During this time, I have continued to mark A level and GCSE Business Studies exam papers for OCR, this has allowed me to keep up to date with developments in business related topics. 2020 was a difficult year for all but it allowed me the opportunity to develop my skills towards online delivery of learning. From September 2020 all lessons involved blended learning with some students in college and some working from home even within the same class. For my part this required me to development new skills to be able to deliver lessons efficiently and effectively. I continue to deliver remotely to one group from a major Food and Drink manufacturer whose students are unable to attend the College. Since 2020 I have been the IQA internal verifier for BTEC and HNC units and in 2021 I successfully presented evidence for three remote external verification IQA visits. I am currently teaching BTEC Level 3 Business Operations, Organisational Efficiency, Communications and Health and Safety. At HNC Level 4 I am teaching Professional Engineering Management and Organisational Efficiency. I am also delivering on the Fire Emergency and Security Systems qualification as well as workbooks (continuous improvement and quality assurance) for the Food and Drink qualifications.
In addition to my teaching I also work as an A Level Examiner. This has helped me to enable students to master exam technique and achieve excellent grades. I currently teach GCSE Business, A Level Business, BTEC National Business and A Level Economics.
I am an experienced teacher of both Economics and Business studies offering tutoring both in a face to face environment and online. My students consistently achieve A*, A and B grades each year, with many improving by 2 grades or more during the time I work with them. I am also an experienced examiner for a range of different specifications. I have experience of teaching and tutoring for all examination boards.
I have many years’ experience in tutoring on a one to one basis having worked in both education and work-based training. My experience results from my time working within two primary schools over several years during which I was heavily involved in setting curriculum standard across English and Maths.
In addition, I have an exceptional knowledge of the current changes in GCSE, KS1, KS2 and KS3 syllabuses and can teach a broad range of subjects covering Primary to Adult education. In addition to a teaching qualification I currently hold a TEFL certificate for teaching English as a foreign language. Having current experience in the education sector working as an Educational Consultant for School Libraries I have a good knowledge of the current curriculum in both English and Maths. This along with my teaching experience provides me with a sound basis for teaching these subjects and has furnished me with a large amount of expertise in the relevant fields.
As much as possible I like to make my lessons fun so that my pupils learn without knowing in an enjoyable and relaxed way. I believe this makes way for a productive session which is both interactive and encourages learning and an approach I believe mirrors my personality which is easy going, relaxed and methodical. Therefore, facilitating students to make great progress and achieve the best results they possibly can.
I have been working with cubs aged 6-10 for 3 years now and have been able to build my emotional intelligence and patience skills to a level where I could teach subjects I am proficient in. I have been told by peers that I am a great tutor (high school)
